CH-RF-ENG-Erosion Control at the Dzhubga-Sochi Road-Sept18 CASE HISTORY Rev 03, Sept 07, 2018 EROSION CONTROL AT THE DZHUBGA-SOCHI ROAD BORDER WITH ABKHAZIA AT THE SECTION OF 4+500 – 18+007 KM EROSION CONTROL Production: Geomat MacMat R1 6822 GN green Description of the site XXII Olympic Winter Games were held in Russia in the city of Sochi from February 7 to February 23, 2014. By the beginning of the event, a large number of sports and infrastructure facilities were built, which continue to function successfully after the Olympic Games. The mild climate of the coast of the Krasnodar Territory and the developed infrastructure attract a large number of tourists throughout the year. The A-147 Dzhubga-Sochi highway is one of the main highway of present-day Sochi, is a part of the European route E97, and is a kind of landmark of the region. The length of the road is 183 km, and it runs along the coastline of the Black Sea along a mountainous territory. The complex geology of the area causes a special approach to the arrangement of transport infrastructure facilities. Condition of the slope before protective measures Problem With the arrangement of the A-147 Dzhubga-Sochi road, a need arose for the greening of steep slopes of the road, which were subjected to soil erosion processes. Initially, a 3D geogrid was installed on the slopes along the automobile road. This material did not live up to its purpose, since most of it collapsed and sagged under the influence of soil erosion and other external factors. The poorly reinforced slope lost its aesthetic appearance, the vegetation could not grow on it. Solution The customer was faced with the task of choosing a technical solution capable of providing a stable herbaceous soil- covering on this site within the shortest possible time. The variable slope from 1: 1 to 1: 1.5 was the peculiarity of the Dismantling the 3D geogrid site. Due to the highly elastic layer of high porosity, MacMatTM R fixes soil particles and promotes growth of vegetation through it, which provides the reinforced slope with its natural appearance. Taking into account the steepness of the slope, it was suggested to use a geomat, reinforced with a double twist wire mesh with an additional zinc coating - MacMatTM R 6822 GN. The green color of the geomat made it possible to provide the slope with an attractive appearance even in the Geomat MacMatTM R mounting process process of construction. The importance of its geology was highlighted when two of the first four international consortia formed to look for oil in blocks off Azerbaijan where no wells had previously been drilled pulled out in the wake of poor results.1 The geography of the area involves the complex problem of export pipeline development and the chicken- and-egg question whether lack of pipelines is holding back oil and gas pro- duction or vice versa.

The bora was reliably reproduced not only in the narrow coastal zone, but also far in the open part of the Black Sea. As a result of modeling we demonstrated that an optimally configured WRF–ARW model with nested grids and horizontal resolution equal to 9/3/1 km quite well qualitatively and quantitatively reproduces the bora events. The details and struc ture of the bora (for example, wind strips and other peculiarities) seen on the SAR images were clearly repro duced by numerical modeling. Coupled analysis allowed us to conclude that these two alternative methods of investigating this dangerous meteorological phenomenon are highly effective.
