Insulaner (Berg) "Mounds of Rubble"

Insulaner (Berg) is a “pile of rubbish” or an “artificial hill” made from the rubbish that was accumulated when Berlin was bombed during World War II. The rubbish was piled high in the center of what is now a park, and has since become a sloping man-made hill. Despite its violent past, today the hill is a favored spot for sledding and skiing during the winter. A by Lienhard Schulz planetarium and observatory sits atop the hill.

"Rising from the rubble"

Rising 115 meters (377 feet) over forest, Teufelsberg offers wonderful panoramic views over Berlin and the surrounding region. Created from the debris which lay all over the city after the World War II, the hill is topped by a futuristic white building which currently abandoned, by A.Savin (Wikimedia but used to be the US army radar base during the Cold War. As it is extremely steep in places, Teufelsberg is also fantastic for sledging down in the winter. The Müggelberge is a series of hills, replete with expansive green forests. This seven-kilometer (4.3-mile) range was formed during one of the Ice Ages. It is broadly divided into two ranges: Kleiner Müggelberg (Small Müggelberg) and Grosser Müggelberg (Big Müggelberg).
