Former Manager/CEO, Doris Cunningham, spent 42 years serving the community with Members Choice WV Federal Credit Union. Mrs. Cunningham was a pioneer of the credit union movement in West Virginia. She dedicated her career to enhancing the credit union difference of providing high-quality at no-to-low costs. In memory of Mrs. Cunningham, Members Choice is honored to offer two $1,000.00 scholarships to deserving high school seniors! In order to qualify for the scholarship, the senior must be a member of the credit union by no later than December 31, 2020. Applicants must also plan to attend a professional education program at any accredited trade or vocational school, 2-year community college or a 4-year university as a full-time student (12 hours minimum). Each year we come together to celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day to raise awareness about what it means for members around the world to have a credit union as their financial partner. This year's global health crisis has been trying for many communities around the world, but credit unions stayed true to their cooperative principles and stepped up during this time of economic uncertainty. Hope is a global resource that everyone has a right to feel and experience. This year's ICU Day theme “Inspiring hope for a global community” reflects how credit unions contribute to a brighter future by providing financial empowerment to people all over the world through financial services, education and support. Normally, we look forward to celebrating ICU Day each year at the credit union with our members. However, due to COVID-19, our ICU Day celebrations will be a little different this year than the have been in past years. As we take a moment to pause and reflect on the year of 2020 as a credit union, we feel fortunate and grateful for our membership. Through our members continued use and confidence in Members Choice, our credit union has not only survived but has thrived. All of the uncertainties that we have faced in 2020 as a community, nation and world, have been a reminder as to why the credit union exists. Times like these are why we take pride in our cooperative spirit of people helping people.
