AUTUMN TERM 2017 – NEWSLETTER No. 6 Friday 15 December

CHRISTMAS ACCESSORIES FOR NSPCC - We had fun this week wearing accessories to school and also thought about others who are less fortunate than ourselves by donating £1 to NSPCC. The children realise how lucky they are and generously gave £268.

NURSERY - Wow what an exciting count down to Christmas Nursery have had! After putting on a faultless performance in their Nativity play the boys and girls were treated to a top-secret Christmas adventure. Their mission was to find ! After a very lively bus journey spotting various clues en route to Middleton Railway they eventually found him on the station platform where he boarded the train with them handing out presents and singing songs as the steam locomotive chugged down the track. Sadly not everyone on the trip was very well behaved! Two rather naughty and cheeky elves got up to all sorts of mischief during the day - stowing away on the bus, climbing in the trains, hiding in the museum and even eating Mr Ribeiros packed lunch! We are keeping a very close eye on them over the last few days of term to make sure the don’t get up to any more mischief! This time of year is very magical for our children in school and we wish you all a happy, peaceful and exciting Christmas holiday.

RECEPTION - Thank you to everyone who came to the Nativity. The girls all really enjoyed performing for you. While you were in school, you may have seen the in the hall. The girls all enjoyed making a decoration to hang on the tree. It has been a hive of activity in the Reception classrooms, the girls have been very busy helping wrap presents and write cards in Santa’s workshop. Thank you to everyone who helped on our craft morning. The girls loved the Christmas activities. We hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year.

YEAR 1 - In Year 1 we have been learning about how animals survive in winter. We have learned about hibernation, migration and adaptation. We have compared hot and cold climates in Geography and used atlases to identify some of these countries. We enjoyed performing our nativity play and had a fantastic trip to the watch the . Year 1 enjoyed making lots of different Christmas crafts and decorations for our school Christmas tree. We would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

YEAR 2 - The girls in 2GW thoroughly enjoyed performing to their family and friends in their class assembly. The assembly was all about “The Fire of London”. They acted out the story of how the fire began, told some very interesting facts about the fire of London and performed a dance. There was even some audience participation when mums and dads sang “London’s Burning” in a round with the girls. Well done to all!

CUPPA CLUB AT THE RIDINGS - Last Thursday out Year 2 Choir and Mulberry Singers ventured down to the Ridings shopping centre bedecked with festive headgear to provide musical entertainment for Age UK’s cuppa club. The girls sang a fine selection of festive songs to a highly appreciative audience, spreading a Cheer to members of our local community.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
