The Town of Snow Lake is a mining community of 1300 people. Snow Lake is situated mid-way between Thompson, and The Pas. The town is 685 kilometres north of a n i t oWinnipeg. b a The Hudson’s Bay Mining and Smelting facility is a prominent feature in the Town of Snow Lake. The mine employs a large number of residents from the town and its surrounding communities. Although mining has traditionally been the main component of the local , M economy, the Town of Snow Lake is quickly developing a strong tourist industry. Located adjacent to the town itself, Snow Lake is characterised by excellent fishing opportunities and natural beauty that attracts tourists from all parts of North America. The Town of Snow Lake is truly is an outdoor-lovers paradise. Nature lovers will delight in the numerous species of birds, animals and vegatation found along the regions many area’s hiking trails. History enthuisiasts can explore ancient Aboriginal Pictographs that are approximately 1500 years old. The Grass River Route will provide canoeists with an insight into the life of the early voyageurs and fur traders, along with many opportunities for spectacular fishing.
