Community Living Disability Services Community Living Disability Services Manitoba Family Services and Consumer Affairs Disability Programs and Employment and Income Assistance Community Living disABILITY Services Community Living disABILITY Services Community Living disABILITY Services of Manitoba Family Services and Consumer Affairs provides a range of support services for Manitobans living with an intellectual disability and their families. The program supports eligible adults to live safely and participate fully in the community. Delivery of services is based on the goals that individu- als living with an intellectual disability should have the opportunity to: • lead satisfying, productive lives in their communities • make their own decisions and direct their own lives, with support if needed • stay connected with their families • develop friendships and other relationships in the community Services are co-ordinated through community service workers who are located in regional offices throughout the province. Supports and services are planned around the unique abilities and needs of each individual. Services may include: • assessment, co-ordination, planning, resource development and counselling • protection services to ensure reports of abuse and neglect of vulnerable persons are investigated and necessary supports are provided • residential, day and support services Residential Services Residential services include a range of supports to assist individuals to live in the community. This may include: • independent living with supports – skill development and support for adults to live on their own • family home – supports for an individual to live with parents or extended family • residential care facilities – accommodation, care and supports through an agency or private operator Another model that is available is In the Company of Friends where participants direct their own funding and are linked with volunteer support networks in the community. Day Services Day Services include a range of supports and training to help individuals to participate in the community through one or more of the following activities: • supported employment and follow-up services – support individuals in paid jobs in community settings • vocationally focused services – help develop, maintain and enhance vocational and social skills. These services may be provided in a day service facility or community setting. • personal development services – develop, maintain and enhance an individual’s personal care and social skills, emotional growth, physical development, and community skills.     May 5, 2021 COVID-19 VACCINE BULLETIN #74 Eligibility to be immunized at a super site or pop-up clinic has been expanded to include individuals aged 45 or older and Indigenous people aged 18 and older. Manitoba expects that eligibility will expand to include all people aged 18 or older by May 21. In addition, all adults aged 18 and older who live or work in specified jobs in these priority communities continue to be eligible to make an appointment: • Prairie Mountain Health – Brandon East End and Brandon Downtown; • Winnipeg Regional Health Authority – Inkster West, Fort Garry South, Seven Oaks West, Downtown East, Point Douglas South, Inkster East, Point Douglas North, Downtown West, River East South, St. Vital North and Seven Oaks East; and • Interlake–Eastern Regional Health Authority – Powerview-Pine Falls. All adults who live or work (in any role) in the Northern Regional Health Authority, as well as Churchill, are also eligible. A map and other information about community-based eligibility is available at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/eligibility-criteria.html#community-based. Eligibility also includes people aged 18 and older who: • are pregnant; • are a client of Community Living disABILITY Services; • work in any health-care setting including outpatient settings; or • work as a front-line police officer or firefighter. Eligibility for the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine includes individuals aged 40 or older and people aged 30 to 39 with priority health conditions. A complete list is available online. Appointments People will be able to begin booking second-dose appointments on May 22. Individuals who are immune-compromised or have other prioritized health conditions will be able to book their appointments first.

NEW THh PAS BKIMit KEY TO NORTH ROADS Number 10 highway in northern Manitoba is undergoing a major facelifting. Included are a new bridge at The Pas, re-location of the roadway in the vicinity of Flin Flon, and paving and improvement programs in the vicinity of The Pas. Latest step in this development was the ceremony held Saturda71 October 19, to mark the start of work on the bridge over the Saskatchewan River at The Pas. Transportation Minister Stewart E. McLean referred to the bridge as a "new and vital link" in the northern road system of the province. Participating in the ceremony were Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs John B. Carroll, Minister of Labour C.H. Witney, Mayor Harry Trager of The Pas, and Chief Gordon Lathlin of The Pas Indian band. The $1.63 million bridge is to be made of steel and re-inforced concrete and will be about 1,200 feet long. The new bridge is to be finished in the late fall of 1969, and will improve truck service into the north, which is now handicapped by load restrictions on the present obsolete bridge. Tenders have been opened for the grading of the last portion of the re-location of No. 10 highway at Flin Flon. Low bid of the six submitted is $259,746 from Pneumatic Drilling and Blasting Limited of St. James. This covers 1.5 miles and includes blasting and removal of 47,000 cubic yards of rock, with work to be completed by next summer.
