La industria pesquera, fun- damentalmente del atún, constituyó su principal fuente económica. Las excavaciones han sacado a la luz el conjunto urbano romano más completo de toda la península ibérica, con monumentos de extraordinario interés como son la basílica, el teatro, el mercado y el templo de Isis. En ninguna otra parte de la península ibérica es posible extraer tras la visita una visión tan completa del urbanismo romano como en Baelo Claudia, gracias a la riqueza de hallazgos y al complemento de su museo monográfico. ABSTRACT The Straits of Gibraltar has been historically an important maritime axis of connection between the Mediterranean and Atlantic areas of the Iberian Peninsula. For this reason, most of the archaeological research has focused on the coastal settlements but its archaeological landscape remains mostly unknown. In this paper we present recent intensive surveys carried out in which a wide range of sites was detected, dating from the eighth BC to the fourteenth AD. We will present the study of the ancient landscape from the long-term perspective. Previous to the Roman expansion, the Pre-Roman Bailo-La Silla del Papa was an urban central place that created a dense network of subordinated settlements.

Moya Quero * Licenciado en Historia Resumen: Los Batallones Disciplinarios de la comarca del Campo de Gibraltar se enmarcan en la represión franquista, desde el final de la Guerra Civil (abril-mayo de 1939), hasta el final de la II Guerra Mundial en 1945. Dentro del contexto de Segunda Guerra Mundial, el nuevo estado español fortifica la Frontera Sur y para ello utilizaran mano de esclava de los presos. Esta represión tendrá un objetivo militar con la construcción de las fortificaciones; un objetivo económico con explotación laboral y expolio personal y un objetivo político de sometimiento y sumisión del vencido. Palabras claves: Batallones disciplinarios - represión franquista - Segunda Guerra Mundial - presos. Abstract: The Disciplinary Battalions of the region of Campo de Gibraltar are part of the Francoist repression, from the end of the Civil War (April-May 1939), until the end of World War II in 1945. Within the context of World War II , the new Spanish state fortifies the Southern Border and for this they will use the slave hand of the prisoners. This repression will have a military objective with the construction of the fortifications; an economic objective with labor exploitation and personal plundering and a political objective of submission and submission of the vanquished. The conservation contribution this year of £40 per person was supplemented by gift aid from those eligible, plus a cash donation of 10€ from one group member, leading to a donation of 620€, about £525, given to GOES. This is our third donation to GOES, the three donations totalling 1646€. The total for conservation contributions from all Honeyguide holidays since 1991 is £83,447, to February 2013.

Sebastiani, SSCOL The seaward trajectory of the northern mole of the Claudian harbour at Portus would appear to be indicated by the standing structures excavated in 1957 at its eastern end. Whilst 800m of the mole is visible, its full length has never been explored, in part due to the north-south runway of Leonardo Di Vinci airport constructed between 1958-61. In 2007, the then Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici di Ostia conducted a programme of deep cores in the area of Pesce Luna, immediately to the west of viale Coccia di Morte. An analysis of this material indicated the northern mole turned southwest towards the conjectured area of the Claudian lighthouse. As part of the Portuslimen ERC-funded research, in April 2016 a large scale ground penetrating-radar (GPR) survey was conducted, with the aim of mapping anomalies in the north-western area inside the Claudian harbour. The earlier cores (Morelli et al, 2011) had indicated an overlying accumulation of approximately 6m, therefore the survey was conducted using a 200MHz frequency GSSI antenna towed by a quad bike or pulled by hand in constricted areas.
