The true Arian is a leader whose chief characteristic is an ardor for work. A female Arian usually craves more scope for her inexhaustible energies and greater opportunities of leading others than can be found in daily domestic routine.

The chief characteristic of the Taurean is the stability of character and purpose. He displays a mulish obstinacy and a strong filial devotion to Mother Earth.

UNION MADE, House Band - The name protesting ready-made uniformity and conformity, Union Made consists of five incredible young men who know their own mind. The Cancerian is intensely romantic. His own strong love must be returned by an equally deep emotion, for he knows no half measures. This love is characterized by a yearning to give while asking for little in return.

The symbol of Libra is the scales, indicative of good balance. The female is basically happy and well-adjusted, and makes an ideal wife and mother. Because they have had wholesome childhoods, they look back in them happily. INTERESTED IN JOINING A&S FASHION BOARD? You May lie Eligible!

The honor of being selected as a member of the A&S Junior or Senior High Fashion Board carries with it opportunities and responsi- bilities that past board members have found most beneficial when pursuing their own education and career goals. They all agree that a year on an ABS Fashion Board is an exciting one. This article is intended to tell you all about the groups' activities, and how you can apply for the 1968-69 Junior or Senior High Fashion Board.

SCENE 8-SCORPIO: the site of a sidewalk political campaign "Step To the Rear" PAULA QUICK, with STEVE CRUZ, NANCY KAPLAN, JOE LOFFREDO, CHRISTINE LANG, ANNETTE GIROUX, SUSAN RAIOLA, and LISA ROSENBERG, with UNION MADE

INTERMISSION

TEEN GO-GETTERS MEET REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP A&S Fashion Board members act as a liason between their schools and Abraham and Straus. Because it is their job to take fashion and other tips to their schoolmates and to bring their ideas and needs back to the store, the representatives must be active, alert girls who have demonstrated leadership ability at school, and in whom others can place confidence. Fashion Board representatives must maintain aver- age or better marks in order that the time spent in participation in Board activities will not interfere with schoolwork. Applicants for A&S Senior Fashion Board must apply in April of their sophomore year, to serve during the Junior year. Applicants for A&S Junior Fashion Board must apply in April of their eighth grade year in Junior Highs which do not have a ninth grade, and in April of the ninth grade year in Junior Highs which do have a ninth grade. Only Brooklyn schools are represented due to limitation of size.

flu It is also necessary that Board members have good taste, an attrac- 7; tive appearance, and he a perfect dress size. (This does not mean that she must be very small, but that she fit perfectly into a given size without requiring alterations) as they hostess at store events and are the sole teen models used by the store to model in public fashion shows throughout the year. To prepare the girls for this, A&S offers them the summer session of A&S-SEVENTEEN Beauty Workshop free of charge, and holds modeling classes especially for Fashion Board members.

ACT III.

SCENE 9-SAGITARIUS: a dock where African and Latin ships are unloading their wares "Jinglo Bah" LINDA ENGH, and THE YOUNG EXPLOSIVES, with RICKY BORDONADO, PAULA ANN ISAACS, and SILVIA RAVELO

"Chinese Bugaloo" LINDA ENGH, and THE LATIN EXPOSIVES, with RICKY BORDONADO, PAULA ANN ISAACS, and SILVIA RAVELO

The chief characteristic of the Sagitarian is his insatiable curiosity. He is vitally interested in people, and revels in wide open spaces.

A&S Junior Journal, mailed free of charge monthly to 33,000 Brooklyn teens, is written primarily by Fashion Board members who submit articles on anything of interest to teen girls, and later thrill to seeing their names in print. They also inform their schoolmates of the latest fashions by writing fashion articles and regular fashion columns for their school newspapers. Thus, Board representatives must possess an interest in journalism and an ability to write. MEETINGS AND EXCURSIONS INTRODUCE REPS TO FUN CITY A full calendar of Fashion Board meetings and group excursions gives Board reps a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the fashion world, the retailing business, and the cultural and recreational attractions of . It has been said that after a year on A&S Fashion Board, the girls know more about their city than do most adults. At monthly meetings, the girls meet well-known and informative speakers, such as an editor or familiar model from a teen magazine, and the chairman of the fashion merchandising department at Pratt Institute.

SCENE 10-CAPRICORN: a medieval castle "He Could Show Me" MARGARET BROWN, with JIM DONLAN, and MATEL STOLER as the Handmaiden

The typical Capricornian takes life earnestly and is generally an enthusiastic upholder of tradition and authority. In the women, there is usually a distinct craving for protection which results in a manner that is often charmingly appeal- ing and confiding.

A most exciting aspect of the Board representatives' term of office is the schedule of monthly excursions that take the girls behind-the- scenes of the fashion industry: to the Capezio Shoe Showroom; the Little Theater of Helena Rubenstein; Simplicity Pattern Company; to the manufacturers' showrooms in the Fashion Market for lunch and a private preview of next season's styles; and to the offices of a teen magazine. Other excursions expose the girls to the city's cultural and entertainment attractions, taking them to Broadway plays, museums and art exhibits; on walking tours of famous parts of the city such as Brooklyn Heights home and studio of renown sculptor Neil Estern; to Rockaway Boat cruise on Sheepshead Bay; and to a dude ranch for a day of horseback riding and swimming.

1 REPS VOTE COMMUNITY SERVICE FAVORITE ACTIVITY A&S Fashion Board members participate in several community serv- ice projects throughout the year, from singing at local hospitals and orphanages, making drawstring bags filled with little gifts for the shut- ins of Welfare Island, and leading carols at Prospect Park's traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony, to teaching the Beauty Workshop to the students of All Day Neighborhood Schools. OUTSTANDING BOARD MEMBERS HONORED AT AWARD PRESENTATION The year's most outstanding contributors to the Fashion Boards are honored at a "Hello-Goodby" party which outgoing school reps attend with the incoming girl (just think, you may be one!) For each ac- tivity in which a representative participates, she is given a cerain num- ber of points as determined by a Point System guide. The Senior Board member who has earned the greatest number of points is awarded a $500 scholarship to the school of her choice. The outgoing Junior Board member receives a $200 Savings Bond. Journalism awards ate presented to outstanding contributors to the A&S Junior Journal and to their school newspapers, and $100 awards are made to the Junior and Senior Board members who have done the most com- munity service throughout the year. BOARD PARTICIPATION HAS REWARDS IN LATER LIFE Fashion Board representatives return year after year to renew old friendships at Reunion Parties held each Christmas. They visit the Teen Coordinators' office to say "thank you" for poise, confidence and experience gained as Board members, which they found helpful dur- ing a college or employment interview, or which inspired and guided them in pursuit of personal ambitions.

SCENE II-AQUARIUS: The Zodiac Museum "Suzanne" ..LINDA RIZZUTO and MARTY AMRANI, and ALTHEA WYCHE

The Aquarian or Water-Bearer loves the whole world. The sign is inclined by nature to exact little and give much.
