SAFETY/SECURITY COMMUNICATIONS. The Communications Center received 648 calls for police service, 31 fire calls and 62 EMS calls for a total number of calls received of 741. There were 11 male inmates and 8 female inmates housed in our jail.

FIRE. Fire companies made 31 fire calls and 55 EMS calls. Of the EMS patients, 43 were transports and 12 were non-transports. They performed 5 building inspections. The Fire Marshal’s Office conducted 16 building inspections, 2 fire investigations and performed 3 plans reviews. The City Emergency Management Team continues to meet to respond to the impact from Coronavirus (COVID-19). On Tuesday, TN-TF1 was activated as a Type 4 Water Rescue Team to deploy to Louisiana for Hurricane Laura, which made landfall on Thursday as a Category 4 Hurricane. Administrative Chief Keith Saunders, Lieutenant Steven Mosby, and IT Director/Reserve Fire Lieutenant Tony Fischer deployed with the team. They remain working in the Lake Charles and Calcasieu Parrish in Louisiana, which was the hardest hit area. They are conducting wide area searches of the damaged buildings and neighborhoods, including providing support for survivors. Congratulations to Wayne Hampton and Nick Signaigo! They were promoted to Lieutenant following a very competitive promotional process. They fill open Friday, September 4, 2020 positions due to retirements of Tony Hulbert and Mike Pohl.

WEEK AHEAD INVESTIGATIONS. The Investigations Division had 29 reports assigned, cleared 22 reports, Tuesday, September 8, 5:30 p.m. (Digital) issued 0 warrants and made 0 arrests. Beautification Commission, PR- Sanders Tuesday, September 8, 6:00p.m. (Cancelled) Board of Zoning Appeals, CC POLICE. The Uniform Patrol Division issued 192 traffic citations and 106 warnings last week. Thursday, September 10, 6:00 p.m. (Cancelled) They also investigated 19 crashes and completed 30 offense reports. Twenty-Nine (29) Environmental Commission, PW- Janda arrests were also made to include 27 adults and 2 juveniles.

WEEK BEYOND AMENITIES Monday, September 14, 6:00 p.m. (Digital) ANIMAL SHELTER. Shelter activities included posting Cassanova on Petfinder and Adopt-A- BMA Meeting Pet. Donations were picked up from Memphis Pets Alive. This week ended with one dog and Thursday, September 17, 3:00 p.m. (Digital) twelve kittens one dog is on stray hold, one kitten is on stray hold and eleven cats/kittens are Senior Citizens Advisory Commission, PR- Sanders in foster care. Thursday, September 17, 5:30 p.m. (Digital) Neighborhood Preservation Commission, KR- Gibson ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. Code compliance opened 17 cases, closed 7 cases, conducted 42 inspections, issued 19 notices and 10 permits. Staff participated in two webinars - one on recycling education and a second on code compliance. The Planning Division: presented 2 agenda items at the September 1 PC meeting; prepared 1 agenda item for the September 14 BMA meeting; organized and conducted 1 interdepartmental Sketch Plan meeting for a proposed project; conducted 1 pre-application virtual meeting; met with a Planning Commissioner to discuss proposed zoning ordinance amendments; processed 8 administrative applications (2 building modifications, 2 landscape plan revisions, 1 plat review and 3 zoning verification letters); conducted 30 informal/cursory reviews; answered residents'

and potential applicants' questions via email and phone.

FARM PARK. Farm Park staff continued daily maintenance requirements for livestock and the Farm Park as a whole. The garden box grant project was completed. Four new garden boxes

were built. These new raised beds will be planted with annual flowers and vegetables – at a ACR Administration Conference Room good working height for children and special needs individuals. The Garden Association CC Council Chambers weeded in main and herb garden. They also harvested , squash, cucumber, peas, CCC Civic Club Complex FS4 Fire Station No. 4 yellow beans and herbs. The Farm Park staff sent satisfaction surveys out to 2020 Farmers GAC Germantown Athletic Club Market vendors. GCC Germantown Country Club GCL Germantown Community Library GHCC Great Hall & Conference Center FLEET. Daily Fleet Availability is 98.1% for this reporting period. GMSD Germantown Municipal School District GPAC Germantown Performing Arts Center GENERAL SERVICES. Fleet- Staff repaired light outages, sealed roof leaks around HHS Houston High School penetrations and reset limits for east side bay door. Fire Station 3- Staff cleaned the roof IT IT Training Room JRP Johnson Road Park drains and gutters. Fire Station 4- Staff set up dehumidifier unit in the weight room/bed hall KR Klein Room area. Germantown Athletic Club- Staff cleared roof drains and repaired indoor pool lights along MP Municipal Park with resetting cycle studio speaker. The call out was placed on RTU1 and RTU3 faulting after PC Pickering Center storm tripped the power. Germantown Performing Arts- Staff met with Osborne /GS to verify PR Parks and Recreation graphics in the ABS system, the exhaust fan motor was removed for replacement, and staff PD Police Training Room cleared roof drains and verified power to the Neshoba entrance sign. Library- Staff replaced PS People Street PW Public Works Complex batteries in the security system panel and repaired bookstore lights. Municipal- Staff TG Tennessee Genealogy Society constructed driver license kiosk walls, cleaned roof and roof drains, and adjusted the temperature for the Admin restroom sinks. Parks- Bob Haley Football- Staff repaired lights inside and outside of the building and restroom stall door hinges. Bob Haley Baseball- Staff removed a bad fan motor and replaced broken electrical cover plates. Cloyes Park- Staff repaired pole light outages and cleaned building lighting. Greenway West- Staff painted over graffiti on the men’s restroom door (vandalism). Public Works- Supervisor assisted Johnson Control with annual sprinkler system inspection. Tennessee Genealogy- Staff set up dehumidifier units, adjusted thermostats, verified that air conditioner units were operating properly, and changed filters. Staff received new electrostatic disinfecting back sprayers and completed daily spraying of high traffic areas throughout the city offices.

PARKS. Staff is supporting the Suburban Garden Club with two fall planting projects. A planting list was developed and provided to this community gardening group for the library fountain garden – transitioning from installing seasonal annuals to perennial plants that return each year. An order for spring bulbs was also completed. Several thousand daffodils and tulips will be planted in the OG district. The spring show promises to be spectacular.

PUBLIC WORKS. Staff completed the trash route throughout the park system, athletic fields and City building parking lots on both Monday and Friday; Drains and inlets at City parks and building parking lots were inspected and cleaned as needed; Delivered a table and tent to Germantown Performing Arts Center for mask and sign give away; Cleaned the bridge bike lanes along the Connector; Cleaned out the water feature at the Library and cleaned off the sidewalks around City Hall and Economic and Community Development; Cleaned off tennis courts at C.O. Franklin Park, Municipal Park and Riverdale Park; Repaired a broken pole bollard at Cameron Brown Baseball; Cut grass on athletic fields at Johnson Road Park, Houston Levee Park, Bob Hailey Baseball, Cameron Brown Baseball, the Soccerplex, Cloyes Park, Farmington Park and Riverdale Park; Cut down and hauled away 5 dead trees at Howard McVay Park; Removed graffiti from signs and trash cans along the Wolf River Greenway; Picked up trash and debris at Poplar and West Street, in front of Germantown Baptist Church, at the entrance to Johnson Road Park, at Forest Hill Irene Rd and Dogwood, and along east Poplar Pike and Poplar; Cleaned up fallen tree limbs at 2273 Howard, at Village Shops Drive and Poplar Ave, at Poplar Pike from Germantown Road to Southern Ave, on Stout Road, Poplar Pike, Hacks Cross, Poplar Pike at Oakleigh, Oakleigh Cove, Farmington at Exeter, and from the medians on Farmington at Brierbrook; Picked up a downed sign at Greensprings and Malabar; Removed a fallen Mimosa tree at Forest Hill Irene Road and Wolf River Boulevard in front of the Enclave Subdivision; Stabilized street failures with concrete treated base and applied asphalt at Bolingbrook Cove, on Hunters Horn, on Somerset east of Oakleigh and to the water cut at 8463 River Glen Drive; Poured the sidewalk at 9573 South Spring Hollow Lane and 7979 CD Smith; Patched a pothole at Poplar and Johnson Road; Repaired an inlet on the southwest corner of Wolf River Boulevard at Kimbrough Road erosion or rut along the TVA Lines at Houston High School; Installed a new “30 MPH” sign at Beekman Place, replaced a “35 MPH” sign at 8254 Farmington, a “NO PARKING OR STANDING” sign at 7385 Oak Run, and the bike lane signs at 8531 Dogwood, 2028 Allenby and 1887 Allenby; Inspected all sewer lift stations daily and performed monthly flushing and cleaning of City Sewer Mains; Performed lift station maintenance at Blue Grass, Riverdale, Valley, Cordova, and Wolf River lift stations; pulled the pump at Johnson Road lift station; Replaced meters and service lines at 8463 River Glen and at 2538 Overlook Dr.; and repaired the fire hydrant at Poplar Ave and Forest Hill Irene Road. Meter readers read 3,810 meters, performed 167 re-reads, serviced 13 meter boxes and performed 15 leak checks. Water division performed 13 leak checks and replaced 7 meters. There were 109 Tennessee One Call Locates; 6 of those were emergency locate.

RECREATION. Registration begins this week for Community Enrichment programs and will end on September 7. We are offering 5 different small group classes. Recreation staff continued planning for fall programming and worked with sports providers as their fall seasons began. The REACH staff is planning a take home project for Family Activity Night for the month of September. This team also prepared for distribution of the monthly newsletter and snack calendar.

HERE AND THERE. Mayor Palazzolo participated in the following conference calls related to efforts to provide public safety and information during the COVID-19 global health crisis: 8 a.m. regional emergency task force briefings held on Tuesday and Friday, 9 a.m. City of Germantown Emergency Operations Committee briefing led by Chief Selberg on Thursday and the weekly Shelby County municipal mayors briefing held on Thursday. Attended the following general governing meetings and events; National League of Cities forum on Public Health Safety, Land Economics virtual meeting with Park presentation, Planning Commission meeting, Methodist Germantown meeting to discuss healthcare appreciation events, weekly media call, weekly marketing/communications meeting and weekly administration meeting. Made a video on COVID public health safety and the recently adopted budget.
