I lusted after the various sports games advertised in the magazines until my mom finally relented and bought Strat-O-Matic Football for me in 1972. I got SOM’s baseball game a year later and I was hooked. I would get the new card set each year and attempt to play the in-progress season by moving the traded players around and turning ‘nameless player cards” into that year’s key rookies. I switched to APBA in the late ‘70’s because they started releasing some complete old season sets and the idea of playing with those really caught my fancy. Between then and the mid-nineties, I collected a lot of card sets. -

HISTORIA DE LA LIGA MEXICANA Desde el momento que se fundó la LMB, el beisbol fortaleció su popularidad en México, y los primeros cimientos para su edificación comenzaron el 24 de febrero de 1925 con la unificación de las Asociaciones Mexicana y del DF, dejando un solo organismo que rigiera el beisbol de aquel entonces. Los directivos Ernesto Carmona y Eduardo R. Rodríguez, llevaron por buen camino el beisbol, todavía en sus categorías primera fuerza (profesional), segunda (semi), tercera, cuarta, juveniles y hasta infantiles. Pero el 11 de marzo, desde Nueva York, llega una información en donde se dice que Hal Chase, ex pelotero de los Medias Blancas de Chicago de 1919, y que radicaba en Agua Prieta, Sonora, estaba planeado fundar la Liga Nacional Mexicana de Beisbol, pero esa Declaración, sólo quedó en eso. Pero la visión, conocimientos y sobre todo, estar al día con los reglamentos del béisbol organizado, de Alejandro Reyes y Ernesto Carmona, y tras reunirse en varias ocasiones con propietarios de clubes, empezaron a edificar el circuito. Tuvieron que pasar muchos obstáculos difíciles, sobre todo cuando el 26 de mayo se preparó un "cuartelazo" contra la Asociación Mexicana, pero lograron sofocarlo, pero quedó un enemigo fuerte: la Liga Cismática, la cual desaparecía más adelante. Reyes y Carmona siguieron con su arduo trabajo para la fundación de la Liga Mexicana, y una establecidos los reglamentos, "Fray Nano" Reyes quedó como presidente, además de ser propietario del famoso parque Franco Inglés, era titular de la Asociación de Ampayers, periodista, y en algunas ocasiones se ponía los arreos para cantar bolas y strikes, o bien, auxiliar en las bases. -
