En cada entidad federativa se eligen dos senadores por mayoría relativa del partido político que haya obtenido el mayor número de votos y uno más del partido que le siga en votación. Por ende, hay 96 senadores, tres por cada entidad federativa; los 32 restantes son electos según el principio de representación proporcional, mediante el sistema de listas votadas en una sola circunscripción plurinominal nacional. La Cámara de Senadores se renueva en su totalidad cada seis años, por lo que los senadores electos en el 2018, ejercen sus funciones en dos legislaturas, la sexagésima cuarta y la sexagésima quinta. El presente documento es un álbum fotográfico de los 128 senadores electos para los seis años de ejercicio constitucional. El ejercicio de la LXIV Legislatura del H. Congreso de la Unión, con vigencia de septiembre de 2018 a agosto de 2021. La LXV Legislatura comprenderá de septiembre de 2021 a agosto de 2024. En este testimonio se presentan, en un primer apartado, a los senadores de acuerdo a la entidad federativa que pertenecen y en un segundo apartado, a quienes fueron electos según el principio de representación proporcional. PRESIDE EL SENADOR OSCAR EDUARDO RAMÍREZ AGUILAR En la Ciudad de México a las diez horas con treinta y ocho minutos del día veintisiete de noviembre de dos mil veinte, encontrándose presentes setenta y un ciudadanos senadoras y senadores, según relación anexa, la Presidencia declaró abierta la sesión matutina. El Presidente informó que la sesión se regirá por las normas de la Ley Orgánica del Congreso General de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, las del Reglamento del Senado y por acuerdo aprobado el 4 de noviembre, de forma que las senadoras y los senadores que lo deseen podrán seguir la sesión desde sus oficinas y tener interacción simultánea con quienes estén presentes en el salón de sesiones, para garantizar su participación en el desarrollo de esta sesión. Long interested in Mexican and Latin American affairs and immigration issues, Laufer covered the region for NBC News during the civil wars of the 1980s. His documentary and book Nightmare Abroad, winner of a George Polk and other awards, investigates conditions in Mexican prisons. His book for children Made in Mexico/Hecho en Mexico, published by the National Geographic Society last year in Spanish and English versions, is a look at the economic disparity between the First and Third Worlds. Contributing writers/researchers Pedro Enrique Armendares is Executive Director of the Centro de Periodistas de Investigación, A.C., an independent organization affiliated with Investigative Reporters and Editors which works closely with journalists in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. Formerly an investigative reporter for La Jornada, Pedro contributes to other media Mexican and international media, including radio and television. A frequent lecturer and panelist in journalism workshops and seminars, he teaches Electronic Journalism at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He was a full-time researcher and professor in the International Studies Division of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), and Academic Coordinator at the Mexico City Study Center of the University of California, where he also taught the Contemporary Mexico course.
