A Note from Pickett...

Good People,

We have woken up the last few mornings to the splendid glory of God's creation. Cool air is perhaps the greatest greeting any one can ask for. I hope, with this wave of cool mornings, that cooler heads begin to prevail. Cooler heads and warmer hearts. It is up to us as Christians to begin reminding the world what community means. I hope you all find time to enjoy the things you love to do this fall. Build a positive spirit within yourself and share it with the world.

Carolina Downhome Festival On Sunday, October 7th Grace Church will have a special Blues Mass at 10:30AM. Artist: Wes Mackey Wes learned to play the guitar from the seasoned old blues players of the South where he was born and raised. At the urging of his father, he left Yemasee as a young man and began his career in Augusta, Georgia. His first gig paid 50 cents and a chicken sandwich. Not long after, he began playing in back up bands for touring artists including Muddy Waters, , Jimmy Reed, Stevie Wonder, and many others. Wes's life's journey has taken him to Canada where he now calls Vancouver home and is front and center of the music. He has played on stages all over the world, including places such as Iceland, Russia, Malaysia, Honk Kong, and many others. A favorite in Europe, he has toured and performed there countless times and was made an honorary citizen of Provence, France. He recently returned from a two week tour of France ending with a performance in Paris. Wes connects with people through his music and his special way of telling stories through song.
