October 2017 The BLOWER OCTOBER 2017 Dan Rupnik/Craig Mainprize at the KK Rally finish line - Pic Tony Hanrahan BATHURST LIGHT CAR CLUB 416 CONROD STRAIGHT MT PANORAMA PO BOX 444 BATHURST www.blcc.com.au FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to my nineteenth edition of the Blower, the monthly magazine of the Bathurst Light Car Club and welcome to all new readers. A bit of a mixed bag this month as we wind down to the final major event of the year – Speed Weekend. Lots of new information for the upcoming year with the draft calendar now out and a reminder to those interested in the history vehicles of our sport that the tribute to the Targa Florio is coming up from the 29th November to the 3rd December. Moves are now underway to have the Bathurst Light Car Club undertake officials training courses in conjunction with CAMS in the Club’s rooms on Conrod Straight with more details to come in the next Edition. Remember it is still not too late to become eligible for the weekend away for two people on the coast, you just have to be registered as a volunteer at a Club event in 2017 as an official to go in the draw for your chance to win. The winner will be announced at the Club Presentation Night and Christmas Party on the 9th December and tickets for the best Christmas Party in town go on sale this month. Next month will feature the October Khanacross which we ran out of time to include here but plenty of pics and good results for our juniors. Till next month readers – safe motoring. Bob Lundie-Jenkins B.A. Editor BLCC Blower ATTENTION ALL BLCC CLUB MEMBERS A register is being developed of the CAMS qualifications of all Club members and we need your help. If you hold a current CAMS Officials license of any kind please send your name, CAMS membership number, CAMS license expiry date and specific qualification with the grade to: The BLCC Competition Secretary at [email protected] The information will assist in the staffing of Club events and development of future Club Officials so please submit your details as soon as possible. 2 PRESIDENT’S REPORT FOR OCTOBER 2017 October has come and almost gone without too many matters of concern – although the month isn’t quite over yet!! For those of you who may have become aware of an incident at the Clubrooms on the day of the Supercheap 1000 this year, I would like to advise that one of the persons staying at the Clubrooms, against the advice of those with him, decided to take his drone up for a (last) look around the circuit. ”Last” is the keyword to the matter - the flight was reported to Police who attended in numbers and confiscated the unit (not returned yet to the best of our knowledge). The message to all is don’t fly drones at any motorsport events as we have emphasised throughout the past 2 years. For the information of those members with vehicles on Historic or CVS Registration Schemes, please be advised that the Roads and Maritime Service, as a result of not being ready/organised to confirm the Logbook Scheme on a permanent basis, have extended “The Trial” for a further 2 Years to expire September 2019. It should be noted also that Maintenance Runs for those members using Logbook privileges, are to be included as one of the 60 days and are not a “free run”. The notation on the top left of log book pages eludes to this irrespective of what is noted on registration papers that are generic to all Historic/CVS registration whether using logbook or not (RMS Rego paperwork has not been updated with the introduction of logbooks to reflect the status of maintenance runs more clearly). As we move toward the end of our events calendar, both on track and off, don’t forget the Speed Weekend both as competitors and officials – Your Club Needs Your Help please. Don’t leave it to somebody else as every little bit of assistance goes a long way (Previous experience is not necessary guidance/training and lunch provided on each day). The Christmas Party/Presentation Night is the final event for the year to be held on the 9th December in the Clubrooms with the usual Happy Hour to get everyone in the mood for a great night. I hope to see as many members as we can attend the evening with tickets highly subsidised as a way of giving a final Christmas present to all members of our Club and to encourage you all to join us to help celebrate another great year. Tickets will be available through Donna Sims in Orange, Dave Robinson and Matt Windsor here in Bathurst from mid-November. Numbers are limited so please be early both to ensure you get a seat/table and further to assist us with catering. 3 By the time you read this article the Khanacross for Sunday 22nd October will have been and gone and hopefully run for the fun of all as intended by your Committee with all having enjoyed the day. The BLOWER JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 3rd place overall in the Motorsport Australia (CAMS) Australian Targa Championship TSD Trophy class. Not bad for 16yrs of age. BATHURST LIGHT CAR CLUB 416 CONROD STRAIGHT MT PANORAMA PO BOX 444 BATHURST www.blcc.com.au FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to my fourty first edition of the Blower, the Club magazine of the Bathurst Light Car Club. Well the year has certainly started with a bang after the usual slow January. A new group of members have taken up the challenge on our management team and a full program of events lies ahead of us for 2020, just check out the calendar. In this edition, we review the minutes of the last few general meetings and of course the AGM, and we look forward to our first tarmac events, rounds 1 and 2 of the NSW Hill Climb Championships. Neville Ling has scored some silverware for his immaculate LC GTR Torana and some of our Khanacross stars have done the same at the first round of the NSW Khanacross Championships with more on that story next time. The wrap from Many Hands Motorsport wrap up of the 2019 season from Steve Brumby not only gave us our cover pic, but some great insight into how the team achieved so much in a very busy year. No wonder our Club awarded them Rally Driver and Navigator Trophy’s, well done to both Steve and Heather. Bathurst Light Car Club thrives on competition, but we cannot conduct competitions unless our members contribute their time and their effort to help organise and run events.
