Our combined GT Club weekend away to Valla Beach in Nambucca Heads has gone for another year and I must say the weather wasn’t kind to us at all, as there were cyclonic (as I call it) winds and the temperature was freezing. In the 30 years Sharron and I have been going to Valla we haven’t been that cold. It was ridiculous. Lucky for us we packed our jumpers and trackies but the downside was not a lot of partying was done outdoors. One of our members broke her ankle/leg and ended up in hospital. Jenny we hope you have a speedy recovery and we hope you come back to Brisbane very soon. Thank you to all those Queenslander members who dressed up on the Saturday night. It was so good to see a lot of our members made the effort. Also, congratulations to all club members whose cars won trophies for the Show n Shine. A special trophy was all presented in honour of the late Jeff Lawlor from the Inverell Club. His wife Lisa presented a trophy to the outstanding car that Jeff always admired and loved and lucky the GT came this year and that trophy was presented to Peter and Cheryl Harrington for their XW HO. Well done to you both. This year’s Christmas Party is being held on the 24th November at the Capalaba Junior Rugby League Club. Please check this month’s newsletter for further details. It is important that you register for catering purposes. Please see Jo Taylor or go to our Facebook page and nominate how many family members will be attending. As our jet setters are back this month (Val and Paula) I personally want to thank Helen Burley for stepping into Paula’s shoes and typing our minutes and Peter Harrington and Kevin Martin for stepping into Val’s shoes and selling our raffle tickets at our last meeting. So enclosing if you can’t make this meeting you can contact me by mobile, home or by email [email protected] with any suggestions, complaints or compliments regarding the club. See you all there. Cheers for now. Mick. October club run Fort Lytton As this was a run central to most members it was easier to just meet at the location itself. It was a nice day but a bit warm with a slit breeze. It was a very small attendance for a run that was so close to a lot of members, some members drove down from Glass House Mountains to attend. The Fort is an interesting place to walk around not over large area but has a few small museums in out buildings. I jumped in on one of the tours and heard a bit about the mines that were put in the mouth of the river and how they would be detonated if needed. One of the guides opened up the powder room for the big gun and gave a bit of info on how they did things and getting the ammo up to the gun above. Will defiantly go again but will do a guided tour next time. It is all free they just ask if you could kindly put a donation in the box. Check out the website for days when cannon firing is on plus night re- enactments. For those that did attend it was and interesting day with friends see a bit of Brisbane History. By Jo T An interesting day well worth the trip to visit specially doing a guided tour you get more information about things. The BLOWER JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 3rd place overall in the Motorsport Australia (CAMS) Australian Targa Championship TSD Trophy class. Not bad for 16yrs of age. BATHURST LIGHT CAR CLUB 416 CONROD STRAIGHT MT PANORAMA PO BOX 444 BATHURST www.blcc.com.au FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to my fourty first edition of the Blower, the Club magazine of the Bathurst Light Car Club. Well the year has certainly started with a bang after the usual slow January. A new group of members have taken up the challenge on our management team and a full program of events lies ahead of us for 2020, just check out the calendar. In this edition, we review the minutes of the last few general meetings and of course the AGM, and we look forward to our first tarmac events, rounds 1 and 2 of the NSW Hill Climb Championships. Neville Ling has scored some silverware for his immaculate LC GTR Torana and some of our Khanacross stars have done the same at the first round of the NSW Khanacross Championships with more on that story next time. The wrap from Many Hands Motorsport wrap up of the 2019 season from Steve Brumby not only gave us our cover pic, but some great insight into how the team achieved so much in a very busy year. No wonder our Club awarded them Rally Driver and Navigator Trophy’s, well done to both Steve and Heather. Bathurst Light Car Club thrives on competition, but we cannot conduct competitions unless our members contribute their time and their effort to help organise and run events.
