Hello to all club members.

Our combined GT Club weekend away to Valla Beach in Nambucca Heads has gone for another year and I must say the weather wasn’t kind to us at all, as there were cyclonic (as I call it) winds and the temperature was freezing. In the 30 years Sharron and I have been going to Valla we haven’t been that cold. It was ridiculous. Lucky for us we packed our jumpers and trackies but the downside was not a lot of partying was done outdoors. One of our members broke her ankle/leg and ended up in hospital. Jenny we hope you have a speedy recovery and we hope you come back to Brisbane very soon.

Thank you to all those Queenslander members who dressed up on the Saturday night. It was so good to see a lot of our members made the effort. Also, congratulations to all club members whose cars won trophies for the Show n Shine. A special trophy was all presented in honour of the late Jeff Lawlor from the Inverell Club. His wife Lisa presented a trophy to the outstanding car that Jeff always admired and loved and lucky the GT came this year and that trophy was presented to Peter and Cheryl Harrington for their XW HO. Well done to you both.

This year’s Christmas Party is being held on the 24th November at the Capalaba Junior Rugby League Club. Please check this month’s newsletter for further details. It is important that you register for catering purposes. Please see Jo Taylor or go to our Facebook page and nominate how many family members will be attending.

As our jet setters are back this month (Val and Paula) I personally want to thank Helen Burley for stepping into Paula’s shoes and typing our minutes and Peter Harrington and Kevin Martin for stepping into Val’s shoes and selling our raffle tickets at our last meeting.

So enclosing if you can’t make this meeting you can contact me by mobile, home or by email [email protected] with any suggestions, complaints or compliments regarding the club.

See you all there. Cheers for now.

Mick.

October club run Fort Lytton

As this was a run central to most members it was easier to just meet at the location itself. It was a nice day but a bit warm with a slit breeze. It was a very small attendance for a run that was so close to a lot of members, some members drove down from Glass House Mountains to attend. The Fort is an interesting place to walk around not over large area but has a few small museums in out buildings. I jumped in on one of

the tours and heard a bit about the mines that were put in the mouth of the river and how they would be detonated if needed. One of the guides opened up the powder room for the big gun and gave a bit of info on how they did things and getting the ammo up to the gun above. Will defiantly go again but will do a guided tour next time. It is all free they just ask if you could kindly put a donation in the box. Check out the website for days when cannon firing is on plus night re- enactments.

For those that did attend it was and interesting day with friends see a bit of Brisbane History. By Jo T An interesting day well worth the trip to visit specially doing a guided tour you get more information about things. Traffic Camera

A man was driving when he saw the flash of a traffic camera. He figured that his picture had been taken for exceeding the limit, even though he knew that he was not speeding. Just to be sure, he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. Now he began to think that this was quite funny, so he drove even slower as he passed the area again, but the traffic camera again flashed. He tried a fourth time with the same result. He did this a fifth time and was now laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past, this time at a snail's pace

Two weeks later, he got five tickets in the mail for Driving without a seat belt !

You can't fix stupid

Two Thai girls asked me if I'd like to go bed with them. They said it would be just like winning Lotto! I agreed, and they were right.

PLEASE READ IMPORTANT SIVS CLUB REGO SCHEME

Impromptu events have been approved as part of the Queensland Special Interest Vehicle Concession Scheme (SIVS) guide. Our club has had to develop a policy to implement Impromptu Events for our Club.

Please read the Falcon GT Owners of Qld Inc’s policy below and please visit the Queensland Government web address below to review the changes to the SIVS. Copy and paste the address into your web browser. http://www.qld.gov.au/transport/registration/fees/concession/special-interest

Falcon GT Owners of Qld Inc Policy relating to Impromptu Events

An impromptu event is an event that has been initiated by a club member, involves one or more vehicles, and is supported by an incorporated vehicle club.

(Reference: http://www.qld.gov.au/transport/registration/fees/concession/special- interest/restrictions)

It may be an event initiated by one or more members of the club at short notice. Some examples may include using the car at a wedding, funeral, school formal, fete, business promotion, cruise or social event for no reward.

For a financial member of the Falcon GT Owners Club of Qld to register an impromptu event, the following process is required.

1. The member posts details of the proposed event on the Falcon GT Owners Club Of Queensland Inc’s Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/899066586794358/ ), as soon as practical before the event, with the following information: a. The purpose or reason for the event b. The date of the event c. Where the event is taking place d. The name of the member proposing the event.

2. Posting of these details would deem the event is approved. (see dot point 3 below)

3. If, for some reason, the proposed event does not comply with the conditions as outlined by Queensland Transport, in particular, everyday use, driving to & from employment, for reward or not posted before the stated date/time of the event, the event is not approved by the Falcon GT Owners Club of Qld Inc.

4. Members who have their vehicles registered under the Special Interest Vehicle Concession Scheme should refer to the most recent conditions and restrictions as the Department of Transport policies take precedence over those of the Falcon GT Owners of Qld Inc. (https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/registration/fees ) Brisbane’s Northside Run Areas The following venues are SANCTIONED for any club members that would like to go for a drive if you are on Club Rego. Rocky All Ford Day, 6th October 2019

Eight cars, Brian & Val – Grecian XW GT, Alan & Lisa – XC Cobra, Tony & Michelle – Brambles XW Ph 2, Brian & Andrea – Monza XY GT, Barry & Carol – Electric Blue XY GT, Garry White AU XR8 ute, Rod – Kinetic XR6 Sprint and Mick & Vicki – Candy Apple Red XW GS Fairmont, headed out from the City Gates Caltex on our way to the first ever All Ford Day organized by the Early Falcon Car Club.

First stop about 1 ½ hours into the trip was Flaggy Rock for a home made pie etc, the ice creams were nice. Today looks like the Monza’s turn to fail a battery, a quick jump start and back on the road. Another incident free segment to The Caves Hotel for a bit of a cool-down, it’s a pretty hot day and getting hotter the closer we get to Rocky, another jump start for the Monza and we ended the trip at a fellow club members motel, The Golden Fountain Motel. Some of us were in other motels as the city is booked out for cattle sales, All Ford Day and other long weekend stuff. A bit of a quick clean to get the bugs off, then a relaxing cold one followed by dinner at one of the more popular pubs in town, then a night cap and off to bed. Next morning some of us got up a bit early to do a final clean of our cars but were a bit puzzled to note that others were being a bit tardy – daylight savings had kicked off overnight and a few of us were up a b… hour early as our phones didn’t realise they were still in Qld. A few of the other guests didn’t seem too impressed with the early wake up call!! Finally we headed out to the venue, following our host in his very nice XY Fairmont through all the back roads, I reckon he went the long way because he doesn’t get the old XY out very often, he also has a yellow BA GT but we didn’t get to see this one today. The show ran from 9 am to 3 pm and there were some very nice Fords there, the big prize/s were taken out by an beautifully restored ’65 Mustang. There was only about 80 cars there for the first ever Rocky AFD, so the Mackay contingent made up about 10% of the total vehicles on show.

Tony & Michelle took the best 69 – 79 prize, Garry took the best 99 – 09 prize and Rod took the best 09-19 prize (bugs on the bumper and all!), so not a bad effort for the Mackay FGTOC. The venue, The Rocky Sports Club was really good, offering access to all of the club facilities throughout the day, so we decided to head back there for dinner and to watch the grand final.

We all had a sfe but separate trip home, some of us early risers and some not. And to top it all off, some of us got our mug shot in the local rag and Tony even got a TV interview, we’ve got a budding media star in our ranks!!!

Until next time safe travels from the Mackay mob.

GUMLU CAR SHOW 2019

On Sunday (October 20th), the Gumlu State School held its annual Car & Bike Show at the Gumlu State School grounds. The Car Show was held to help raise money for the Aussie Farmers. The Falcon GT Owners Club participated in this bi-annual event and the event attracted over 100 cars and motorbikes and several car club displays. For those who don’t know where we went to Gumlu is approximately one and half hours’ drive south from Townsville, about half way between Ayr and Bowen. Meeting up at the BP Cluden, we departed at 6.15am to travel south along the highway to Ayr to meet up with the Burdekin members. Our GT Club had ten cars on display with some members displaying their cars for the first time. As can be seen from the photos, it was a fine sunny day, with spectators viewing all the cars and motorbikes that were on display. Carol managed to pick up a trophy for 'Grand Champion' of the Show with her 2017 Super Snake and Josip was awarded a trophy for People's Choice 'Best Car - Post 1960' with his GTF Sedan.

One of Club members brought along his drone which took fabulous photos from up in the sky. Please look at the photos attached to this write-up to see some of those photos taken from the drone.

Big thanks to all the GT Club members that attended and helped with the set-up of our display at Gumlu.

A guy bought a new fridge for his house.

To get rid of his old fridge (still working), he put it in his front yard and hung a Sign on it saying: 'Free to good home. You want it, you take it.'

For three days the fridge sat there without anyone looking twice.

He eventually decided that people were too mistrustful of this deal.

So he changed the sign to read: 'Fridge for sale $50.'

The next day someone stole it!

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car which is designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped.

She keeps it in the car trunk.
