  • Blower February 2020
The BLOWER JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 3rd place overall in the Motorsport Australia (CAMS) Australian Targa Championship TSD Trophy class. Not bad for 16yrs of age. BATHURST LIGHT CAR CLUB 416 CONROD STRAIGHT MT PANORAMA PO BOX 444 BATHURST www.blcc.com.au FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to my fourty first edition of the Blower, the Club magazine of the Bathurst Light Car Club. Well the year has certainly started with a bang after the usual slow January. A new group of members have taken up the challenge on our management team and a full program of events lies ahead of us for 2020, just check out the calendar. In this edition, we review the minutes of the last few general meetings and of course the AGM, and we look forward to our first tarmac events, rounds 1 and 2 of the NSW Hill Climb Championships. Neville Ling has scored some silverware for his immaculate LC GTR Torana and some of our Khanacross stars have done the same at the first round of the NSW Khanacross Championships with more on that story next time. The wrap from Many Hands Motorsport wrap up of the 2019 season from Steve Brumby not only gave us our cover pic, but some great insight into how the team achieved so much in a very busy year. No wonder our Club awarded them Rally Driver and Navigator Trophy’s, well done to both Steve and Heather. Bathurst Light Car Club thrives on competition, but we cannot conduct competitions unless our members contribute their time and their effort to help organise and run events.

  • Covid-19 Edition 2020
The BLOWER COVID-19 EDITION 2020 Remember when we could do this without breaking the law? BATHURST LIGHT CAR CLUB 416 CONROD STRAIGHT MT PANORAMA PO BOX 444 BATHURST www.blcc.com.au FROM THE EDITOR Welcome to my fourty second and most unusual edition of the Blower, the Club magazine of the Bathurst Light Car Club. Please forgive my “tongue in cheek” cover this Edition I couldn’t help seeing the irony of the picture. We certainly live in a different world these days’, don’t we? I hope this publication helps to restore your faith in the fact that we will be back to pursue our passion for all things motorsport in the days or months ahead, we just have to be strong as a community to get over this thing. You President has provided details of what the Committee is up to in the meantime and you can read and see the results of the NSW Hill Climb events on the following pages. Tony Hanrahan has been busy around the grounds and provides an update on a number of members in action and Scotty Simms has provided a run down of the Gnoo Blas Motorshow. Bathurst Light Car Club thrives on competition, but we cannot conduct competitions unless our members contribute their time and their effort to help organise and run events. If you are a member and you have not put your hand up to help make your Club a success, is it time to give it a go? You might just change your life! Why not apply for a Motorsport Australia Officials Accreditation online while you are waiting to get back into action? I have included the annual calendar of events for members notation, however, there is no doubt that dates for a number of the events will need to be changed.

TE NUPEPA O TE TAIRAWHITI WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2020 HOME-DELIVERED $1.90, RETAIL $2.20 WE asked on The Herald Facebook page how the first weekend in lockdown went . and Gisborne responded. The Alert Level 4 regulations have restricted our movements but not our can-do attitude, creativity or enthusiasm when it comes to getting out (or in) there and doing it. The Herald Facebook page has been deluged with pics of Gisborne people in lockdown action — from baking to gardening; from jigsaw puzzles to board games; from DIY to gutterboard contests. We will be featuring regular pictures of locals in lockdown, starting today. So head to page 2 to see what we’re all up to. And remember — stay home, be kind. ON THE FARM: Helping Fergus Semple FLY MY PRETTY: Hector Bastos tests his with some fencing are Noah Starr and Zoe paper plane. Tombleson. Who are the people in your neighbourhood? This is what a neighbourly chat looks like nowadays during an Alert Level 4 lockdown on a quiet cul-de-sac in Gisborne. Pictured are six households, in their different bubbles, who all meet at the end of their driveways with a deckchair and a cuppa for morning and afternoon tea times. Usually there are more, says Asquith Street resident Sharon Craig. It’s a good way to keep in touch, get some sun and, in Sharon’s case, see the grandkids who live across the road with daughter Esther Theobald and husband Judah. Other neighbours are working from home, including Daryl Gowers, teachers JP and Susan Vorster and Pastor Bruce Whitley, who still holds church gatherings via Zoom video and online conferencing.
