President’s Report – March 2019

Hello to all club members.

Well summer has gone so we all thought but the last couple of days have been shocking. All I can say is thank goodness for air conditioning.

Last month’s run was to Bribie Island. We were all concerned about the weather especially with the cyclonic winds and rough seas the coastal areas were copping from cyclone Oma. The decision was made by our vice president that our Sunday run was going ahead. It was a lovely day even though the skies weren’t looking promising. A big thank you goes to the organizers of day, the food and our awesomeness chefs for cooking all those sausages, meat patties and onions. But there was one person that stood out that day and that was our newsletter editor for all the running around you did on the day. We won’t say that you left the bread at home so a trip to Woolies to purchase more and then realizing we had no butter when all the salad stuff was being brought out and yep you guessed it (we left that at home too), so off we go again to Woolies to buy butter. It wasn’t your day was it JO ☺. I can’t forget the coffee van. Thank you for making all those coffees. I know our club members appreciated it.

At our next meeting I will be asking for volunteers to get on board the All Ford Day Committee to help organize this event in July. Time is going quick and we need to start as soon as possible. Please think about it as we need new blood and the more people, we have the easier the workload will be.

As mentioned in last month’s newsletter the GT Nationals will be held in 2021. We need to start forming a committee and we are wanting volunteers to put their hands up to come on board. More on this to come at our next club meeting

Also, congratulations must go to our membership officer David Roads on the arrival of his new grandson baby James and big congratulations to Sasha on the birth of her little bundle of joy. I’m sure there are going to be plenty of nanas around for special cuddles.

Don’t forget to check out our newsletter for upcoming events.

Feel free to contact me by email [email protected] with any suggestions, complaints or compliments regarding the club.

See you all at our next meeting.

That’s all for now cheers.

Mick.

A little old Granny enters a lift in a high-rise building. As the lift stops on the first floor, a pretty young lady enters the lift, surrounded by a cloud of perfume. She looks down at the old Granny and says “Chanel Number 5 $200 for 50 ml” The lift stops on the second floor, and another pretty young lady enters the lift, surrounded by an even bigger cloud of perfume. She too looks down at the little old Granny and says “Cartier 50 ml $500”

As the lift stops on the fourth floor, just before the little old Granny leaves the lift, she lets out a ripper fart, and says “Brussel Sprouts from Aldi 200 grams 99c”

Then after brekkie we are heading back down the mountain about 10.30-11ish to Charles Holm Park at Hope Island for a Picnic Lunch (this means BYO lunch, drinks, shade, chairs, sun screen, hat) there is an area for kids/ Grandkids and there is some shade and tables but just in case there all gone when we get there safer to bring some “Motto: Be Prepared!!”. Otherwise you could drive direct to Charles Holm Park and meet us there. This is a nice little spot right beside the Coomera River with some boats and jet skiers going passed. Hope to see you on both or either one of the runs.

Safe Cruising Bribie Island BBQ Run

Morning start out a bit iffy with the weather, as we had had the threat of the cyclone going down from up north, but as all good GT runs the storm petered out. We all meet up as our usual spot at Chermside Woollies, Bob Headed off straight up to Bribie with the club tailer to set up the BBQ ready for the rest to arrive. Tammy, Mark, Keith, Di and a few others were at the park to help Bob when

he arrived. I went to usual meeting spot with my little granddaughter Lillian (2½) in back seat giving me directions on how to get there. After arriving just before everyone was ready to leave, I handed the attendance book around then we jumped in the cars and headed off up the highway toward Bribie. I was tail end Charlie along with Ian Noffkie and his wife by the time we got out of carpark we both got

court at just about every set of traffic lights (not happy Jan). It took until Sandstone Point to catch up. As I was driving over the Bribie Island bridge, I looked over towards the direction we were going and could see rain in coming that way (Yay great!!) then my daughter rang to tell me that I had left all the bread at home (Yah!!, FFFFF). Had to quickly pull into woollies to grab some more bread, my daughter offered to bring it all the way up, but said it’s easier to get more. After getting the bread Lilly and I head towards the park on arrival everyone was settled in and luckily the rain had blown away. The coffee van was setting up and members were already lined up waiting for their coffee, off course Val was first in line, thanks Peter & Ann for bring Coffee van along. Turned out to be a great day not to windy where we were and the breeze kept it a nice cool an enjoyable day. Thanks to everyone that helped keep an eye on Lillian for me and Troy Bourke you did a great job of swing pusher. Both Troy P and Troy B were our official BBQ cookers on the day, thanks guys great job. Also, thanks to Mark and Tammy for bringing the ice creams they went down very well.

The Wide Bay guys did a breaky run to Kape Centro in Childers. We were joined by Maryborough Ford Club. We had 16 cars on the run. Breaky was very enjoyable, they catered for all of us plus the Childers Collectible Vehicle Club were there having breakfast so they joined us for a chat about their upcoming car show. No raffles were done today. Was good to see Andrew Beresford up and about as he was a passenger today and not a driver. With the car scene in Bundy ramping up a bit a couple of the Maryborough guys are going to come to the next Bundy Car Meet on

13th April which has been now attracting a couple of hundred cars and motorbikes of all sorts. With Easter next month Wide Bay will not be doing a run now till May in the Bay.

Deepest Sympathy

It is with a heavy heart that I inform all of you of the sad news regarding one of our members in the Northern region of the Falcon GT Owners Club. Michelle Beasley had fought hard but has lost her battle against cancer. Michelle passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday afternoon (14 Feb), with Wade and the family by her side. All members of the Falcon GT Owners Club of Queensland send our condolences to Wade and the Beasley family. As you all know, Michelle with Wade regularly attended, over the many years, all the Falcon GT Club events that were organized, including the Falcon GT Nationals.

Michelle...Rest in Peace...you will be greatly missed.

The GT Club members would like to pass their condolences onto the family

Falcon GT Club Members (North Qld) Regular Monthly Club Event (March)

On Sunday morning, (3rd March) all North Queensland GT Club members and their families had their regular monthly Club Event for the month. This is a new event added to the calendar when on the first Sunday of the month, all members will meet up at the Puma Service Station/Truck stop in Cluden for coffee/breakfast and general gathering to discuss anything members may have in mind. Due to the recent rain event and flooding in Townsville, this event was the first event of the year where we could finally get the Fords out and take them for a drive.

Once again, it was a great gathering of the Falcon GT Club members from Townsville and the Burdekin with a few members attending for the first time. There was a total of twelve cars with their owners that gathered at the Puma servo and truck stop (near Bunnings), at 8.00am. Future GT Club car runs and potential destinations were discussed throughout the morning while having a coffee and breakfast.

Below are the following members and new members and their cars which attended on the day: Wade B Polynesian Green ED (Tickford) XR8 Paul & Christine B: Wild Violet XA GT Coupe Peter A: Ultra White XY GTHO Bill K: Monza Green XY GT Paul & Aaron K: Surfer Orange XY GT Sam & Tina Di B: Silhouette Black BF GT Jim & Janice J: Victory Gold FGX XR8 Sprint Luke J & family: Yellow XY Fairmont John & Debbie M: Lightning Strike BF (Mk 2) GT Warren K & family: Blue XY Fairmont GT (Sth Afr) George A: Wild Violet XA GT Coupe Ainsley T: Teal Blue XY GT (Replica) Steve R: Drove the work Ute
