21 other news The wheels on the bus go round and round Wild/Mild Hogs Riverland Adventure

All week, the heavy rain Adelaide had been experiencing threatened to put a dampener on the latest tour of duty – but, Saturday morning, on request, we struck luck, although some of the gang professed to have connections up above, the rain went and albeit cold, we headed off for an overnight adventure that was loads of fun. Starting off our meeting spot was Taste at Gawler for a breaky together, then via Walker Flat Ferry a visit to Banrock Station was next on the Agenda where, yep, we ate and drank more – some of us purchased local wines and nibbles. Sadly for Humphrey & Cookie a snapped throttle cable would end their tour on two wheels – the bike was loaded up into the Copyworld sponsored motorbike trailer towed by Liam aka Roadie in the Whiteline Racing Ute – not that they were complaining much, at every opportunity when we would arrive somewhere frozen they would point out the warmth in the ute with the heaters going !! Our home for the night was the Big 4 Caravan Park at Renmark where we had just fabulous cabins on the river edge and were greeted by the local community of Pelicans and ducks. The boys had a look at Humphrey’s bike to see if it was something that could be fixed, but without the parts and being a Saturday night there wasn’t much could be done. Everyone got tidied up and Neville from Paringa Pub picked us up in their courtesy bus taking us in for dinner. We all enjoyed the local hospitality and with the crows game on the tele and the fact they won made for an even greater night. Book maker Bob the Builder ran a high stakes $10 punt on the footy with Richard, aka Iceman winning. The next morning we headed to Renmark Country Club for breakfast where we were entertained by local Frank and his ‘individual’ house boat, then out to the Woolshed to sample the unique ‘lemonade’ and other brews. We decided to head home via Morgan and Kapunda, stopping at the iconic Overland Corner hotel – certainly a popular spot – there were at least 150 other road and trail bikers there. Last stop was Kapunda for the good byes and final drink together. Was an excellent trip and special thanks to Sharpie for getting us all motivated and organized !!
