Sunday 23rd August 2020 Matters from Race 18: Race Director Incident Determinations During the Race the RD conducted an investigation at the request of Triple Eight Race Engineering into an Incident at Turn 4 on Lap 35 when Car #18, Mark Winterbottom, overtook Car #97, Shane van Gisbergen, and contact occurred between the two Cars. After reviewing broadcast footage of the Incident and consulting the DSA, the RD determined that there was no evidence of a breach of the Rules by the Driver of Car #18. The Stewards imposed a five (5) second Time Penalty on Car #1, Jamie Whincup, for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 Code of Driving Conduct (Careless Driving) in relation to an Incident at Turn 7 on Lap 33 when Car #1 made contact with the rear of Car #55, Chaz Mostert, as Car #55 was attempting to enter the Pit Lane which caused Car #55 to spin and lose positions.
