  • Time to Go Racing with the New Aston Martin Vantage GTE
Time to go racing with the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE • Aston Martin Vantage GTE to make its racing debut at Spa-Francorchamps • Team confident car is competitive and reliable ahead of season • Aston Martin Racing begins historic Super Season with world class driver line-up Tuesday 1 May, Spa-Francorchamps: The new Aston Martin Vantage GTE will make its long- awaited debut in the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Super Season at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps this weekend (3-5 May). The Aston Martin Vantage GTE is based on the critically-acclaimed Aston Martin Vantage road car, the most performance oriented sports car to come from Aston Martin’s ‘Second Century Plan’. Powered by a 4.0-litre, V8 turbo-charged AMG engine developed and optimised by AMR, the Vantage GTE is the first all-new GT car Aston Martin has introduced to the FIA WEC GTE category in seven years. Following an extensive 10-month testing and development programme that has covered 35,000km and 14 different circuits, the team is confident that it has a competitive and reliable car capable of repeating Aston Martin Racing's 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours glory in June and contending for the overall Super Season GTE Pro title. Aston Martin Racing also boasts a world class driving line-up in 2018. The GTE Pro roster includes three-time Le Mans winner Darren Turner, who is joined in the #95 car by 2016 FIA WEC GTE Pro champions Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen. Meanwhile, 2017 Le Mans winner Jonny Adam shares the #97 entry with DTM and Spa 24 Hours race-winner Maxime Martin (B) and Formula 1 test driver and Formula E racer Alex Lynn (GB).

Communications Motorsport Eva -Maria Veith Tel: +49 173 9393522 E-mail: [email protected] www.audi -motorsport.info World Endurance Championship visits Audi’s largest market • Final sprint in FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) • China is Audi’s largest sales market • Audi victorious in 6-hour race at Shanghai a year ago Ingolstadt, October 27, 2014 – The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is wound up to a high pitch. Within the space of three weeks, sports car fans have been thrilled by the lead in the manufacturers’ championship changing twice. Following two one-two victories in succession, Audi had taken the top spot in the standings at the season’s midpoint. Although the brand had to relinquish its lead in the race in Japan, it remains in striking distance of the leader of the standings. Now the World Championship decision is coming to a head, as the sixth of eight WEC races is on the agenda at Shanghai on November 2. The brand with the four rings is separated by merely eight points from leader of the standings Toyota in the manufacturers’ classification, while the brand’s advantage over the third-placed brand, Porsche, is 66 points. A total of 132 points are yet to be awarded until the finale. The WEC round in China has special significance for Audi for several reasons. The track is regarded as very challenging, the team achieved victory there last year, and the ‘Middle Kingdom’ has evolved into the largest sales market for AUDI AG. In China, the company delivered 415,704 automobiles between January and September – 16 percent more than a year ago.

  • F1 Advent Calendar 2012 (Day 15) – Ten for Twelve
F1 Advent Calendar 2012 (Day 15) – Ten for twelve Hello and welcome to the F1 Advent Calendar 2012. This is our mini series taking a look at the highs and lows of the season Just gone, the key moments that made it a pretty incredible year. Today we are moving towards the rear of the grid where an intense battle was playing out. This is Day Fifteen - Ten for twelve. The talk from Caterham ahead of the 2012 season was all about moving forward and away from the other new teams they started their time in Formula One with. Two tenth place season finishes in a row had seen them with a cash inJection, and the hope was for them to take a leap forward and start scoring points. The double retirement in Australia wasn’t exactly the start they were looking for, but a 13th place in Mon- aco for Kovalainen and a similar result in Valencia for Petrov meant the team were keeping a comfortable hold on their tenth place. Then came the Singapore Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton put in a pretty fabulous lap to secure pole position on the Saturday, whilst all eyes were on the Williams pair. Pastor Maldonado was proving his pace in the car by hauling the Williams up to second place on the grid, whilst Bruno Senna crashed out in second qualify- ing, finding his way towards one of those pesky walls. The Ferrari drivers were split, with Fernando Alonso up in fifth, and Felipe Massa in thirteenth. Lining up on the front row of the grid, after a minute of silence paying tribute to Sid Watkins, Hamilton pre- pared for the lights to go out and the race to begin.

  • Porsche and Michelin Clinch the Season's FIA WEC Drivers' Crown
MEDIA INFORMATION November 21, 2015 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 6 Hours of Bahrain Porsche and Michelin clinch the season’s FIA WEC Drivers’ crown and LM GTE Cups in Bahrain to add to their 2015 Manufacturers’ title The 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) concluded with Michelin’s partner Porsche claiming the top prizes in both the LM P1 and LM GTE Pro classes. Following its return to world class endurance racing in 2014, the Stuttgart brand emerged as the discipline’s team to beat this season despite year-long pressure from fellow Michelin runners Audi (in LM P1) and Ferrari (in LM GTE Pro). By providing tyres developed to meet the specific needs of its different manufacturer teams in this championship which permits open competition between tyre firms, Michelin enabled all of its partners and drivers to fight at the sharp end in the course of the 2015 season. “I would like to congratulate Porsche on its different titles and I am proud of the role Michelin played in its success,” said Michelin Motorsport Director Pascal Couasnon. “We work closely with all of our partners and we were at their side throughout this year’s FIA WEC which was of an extremely high level in both sporting and technological terms. It’s important to remember that this year’s cars marked a big step forward, especially the LM P1 prototypes which boasted power outputs and aerodynamic downforce of an unprecedented level.” The performance, durability and versatility of Michelin’s 2015 range of endurance racing tyres were illustrated by the high grip they delivered in cold weather at Silverstone and Spa, the quadruple-plus stints they permitted in LM P1 at Le Mans, their consistency and also their ability to double stint at the season’s most exacting circuits in high temperatures.

  • Press Release October 31, 2016 No
Press Release October 31, 2016 No. M 220/16 FIA World Endurance Championship WEC, LMP1, Round 8, Shanghai (China), Preview Match point for Porsche in the fight for the manufacturers’ championship Stuttgart. On November 6 the FIA World Endurance Championship is having its eighth and, at the same time, penultimate round of the 2016 season. One year ago in Shang- hai Porsche celebrated an early win in the manufacturers’ world championship. Noth- ing less than the defence of this title is the target for this year’s six-hour race at the Chinese Formula One circuit. So far this season the Porsche Team has achieved five race wins with its two 919 Hybrids and leads the manufacturers’ world championship with 263 points ahead of Audi (204) and Toyota (174). With the current advantage being 59 points, the team could start partying if the gap was at least 44 points after six hours of racing. We very much regret the loss of Audi as a great competitor from the 2017 WEC season on. Porsche will compete in the entire 2017 WEC season as planned. So far Porsche has derived a huge benefit in terms of knowledge and innovations for production cars from the LMP1 programme – this applies in particular to the 24-hour race at Le Mans. To be too relaxed in this year`s fight for the championship would be wrong, warned Fritz Enzinger. The Vice President LMP1 points to last year’s experience: “At the final race in Bahrain in 2015, it was the drivers’ title that seemed fairly easy to get.

F1 Advent Calendar 2012 (Day 2) – Melbourne masterclass Hello, thank you for Joining me for the second episode of the F1 Advent Calendar 2012. We’ve already be- gun our Journey through the key moments of the season Just gone, with a review of the early testing. Now it’s time for the racing to get going, so let’s get to it with Day Two - Melbourne masterclass. We know by now that Australia tends to deliver a chaotic and unpredictable race - one that doesn’t neces- sarily foreshadow how the season will play out, but kicks things off in style. The 2012 race did not let us down, starting with an intriguing qualifying session. The McLaren team were on form, with Lewis Hamilton pipping teammate Jenson Button to pole position. Behind them, a surprising Romain GrosJean showed yet more pace from Lotus. The Red Bull pair were fifth and sixth with Mark Webber ahead, whilst the Ferrari duo struggled considerably - both unable to get into the top ten. Sergio Pérez fell foul to an early gearbox penalty, dropping five places, whilst both HRT drivers failed to complete laps within the 107% time required. We’ve seen the FIA be lenient with the slower teams before, but as HRT hadn’t managed much running in the practice sessions, and were clearly not on the pace, they deemed them not ready to participate in the Grand Prix. It was a sunny evening in Melbourne when the drivers lined up on the grid for this first race. Jenson Button managed to scamper past Hamilton off the line, taking a very early lead and never looking back.
