He was hired at the Mercedes Style Center, but he moved to Milan in 1958 to work in Gio Ponti’s Studio. Shortly thereafter he began productive collaboration with Marco Zanuso and they designed revolutionary electronic products such as the Doney (1962), Algol (1964), and Black (1970) televisions for Brionvega. Sapper brought the accuracy of German engineering to Italian design: his most famous product, Artemide’s Tizio lamp (1972) is proof. He has worked for Alessi, Castelli, Fiat, IBM, Kartell, Lorenz, Magis and Siemens and he has been awarded the Golden Compass Award a staggering ten times.
