• South Coast Hwy upgrades ‒ Cheynes Section Stage 1 ($7m) – completed in 2017. ‒ Cheynes Section Stage 2 ($5m) – completion in May 2018. ‒ $30m commitment (18/19 to 20/21): widen, reconstruct + passing lanes. 6 Key Projects • Chester Pass Road – Amelup ($11.5m) ‒ Work in progress. ‒ Anticipated completion in June 2018.

What is it?

Major road transport project that will:

• Provide high standard, unimpeded road access to the Port of Albany.

• Substantially enhance safety and amenity on urban road network.

• Allow rationalisation of land use within the City of Albany.

• Underpin the economic viability of the Port of Albany. 10 Albany Ring Road

Why is it required?

• Port of Albany only viable port option on this section of south coast.

• Transport routes to port becoming increasingly constrained.

• Security of transport route is required – development encroachment.

• Road safety issues on urban road network.

• Environmental and amenity impacts on residential areas. 11 Albany Ring Road

Stage 1 • Chester Pass Road to Albany Hwy (7km) • New single carriageway. • Completed in April 2007. • 1,000 vehicles per day / 26% HV’s.

Stage 2 & 3 • Albany Highway to Princess Royal Drive (11km) • New single carriageway (on existing road alignments) • 1 x grade separated interchange (ie bridge). • 17 x at-grade intersections. • Realignment of 4km of rail. • Cost Estimate of $172m. 12

• Preliminary design for Stage 2 & 3 complete.

• “Hardship” land acquisitions undertaken.

• $35m committed from State Government.

• Submission made for Federal funding ($172m) as part of 2018/19 National Partnership Agreement for Land Transport Projects.

• Strong Business Case developed. BCR being finalised (>1.3).

• Proposed delivery methodology is via a Design & Construct Contract model.
