PELGURAND Nature protection and recreation 1 Tallinn aims at obtaining the title of the European Green Capital by the year 2018. Achieving that goal requires a lot of responsible work so that the city would meet many environmental demands: green areas must be appropriate for everyone and be a part of the public domain; air quality and noise pollution, garbage disposal, water consumption and wastewater purification need to comply with standards. e image of a green capital is illustrated by environmentally friendly and safe beaches with excellent water quality and the functional infrastructure of natural values that allow city dwellers to spend a pleasant holiday here. Green areas in urban environments need to be preserved and used well. is is something we all have to work for in the name of the title of the Green Capital. Arvo Sarapuu Deputy Mayor of Tallinn 2 Whimbrel elgurand is situated in Tallinn and is a part of Kopli Peninsula. Kopli got its name from hundreds of years ago, when the people of Tallinn used to herd their animals in the woods and pastures of the area. In the past, this was Pthe location of a fishing village and a brickyard. Most of the stone roofs of medieval Tallinn were made from the blue clay from Kopli. There have been several large factories, assembly plants and ports (Bekker Port, Meeruse Port, Vene-Balti Port etc.) on Kopli Peninsula. The water near Kopli Peninsula was considered to be polluted for a long time. At the moment, industrial enterprises employ efficient purification devices and wastewater from housing estates is led to the disposal plant of Paljassaare. In case of rain water, there are mandatory filters for sand and oil, guaranteeing the standard quality of water. According to the bathing water directive of the European Union, the quality of swimming water is estimated as very good, good, satisfactory or deficient. The Health Board has estimated the water of Pelgurand according to the requirements of the directive to be very good. Remember and respect the rules of conduct while at the beach. 2. Preserve nature. 3. At the beach, behave and act so that you yourself would like to go back. 4. Playing ball may disturb other holiday-makers – it is only allowed in places where others are not nearby. 5. Put your rubbish in the litter bin. We are very thankful if you pick up trash even left there by others. 6.     VVEESSKKIIMMEETTSSAA--MMUUSSTTJJÕÕEE SSEELLTTSS 2 0 2 0 | I N F O K I R I N R 4 TEIE KÄES ON VESKIMETSA-MUSTJÕE SELTSI JÄRJEKORDNE INFOKIRI, MILLEGA TOOME ASUMI ELANIKENI INFOT SELTSI TEGEMISTEST JA UUDISEID ASUMIS TOIMUVA KOHTA 2020. aasta juunis täitus Veskimetsa-Mustjõe Seltsil neli aastat aktiivset tegutsemist. Hea meel on tõdeda, et selts on endiselt tegus ja seltsi kuuluvad aktiivseid liikmeid, kellel on entusiasmi ja motivatsiooni asumis kogukonda kokku tuua ja seista meie naabruskonna elukeskkonna eest. Seltsi esindajad on aktiivselt suhelnud ametkondade ja linnavalitsusega asumi heakorra ja liiklusohutuse teemadel. Veskimetsa-Mustjõe Selts, nagu palju teisedki asumiseltsid, on kujunenud Tallinna linnaplaneerimisel ja juhtimise usaldusväärseks partneriks, kelle arvamust küsitakse ning kel on võimalus edastada kohalikke muresid, ootusi ja ettepanekuid ametkondadesse. Veskimetsa-Mustjõe Selts on korraldanud alates 2016. aastast kogukonnale suunatud ühisüritusi, millest on saanud juba traditsioon: Talvekohvikupäev, "Teeme ära" talgud, Puhvetipäev ja Külapäev. Käesolev aasta on olnud igatepidi eriline ja teistmoodi. Kuna sel aastal jäi talv ära, ilmaolud olid kesised ja ettearvamatud, siis olime sunnitud talvekohvikupäevast sel aastal loobuma. Ootasime talgupäeva, ent viirusega seotud kriisiperiood tegi plaanidesse muudatuse. Traditsiooniliselt juuni lõpus toimuv Puhvetipäev oli välja kuulutatud, ent kuna oli teadmata, millised on selle hetke võimalused rahvarohket üritust korraldada, võttis selts vastu otsuse Puhvetipäev korraldada

Kas Transpordiamet või mõni teine linnaamet planeerib uuringuid võimalike Merimetsa ja Harku raba läbimurrete rajamise kohta? Kui ei, siis millal ja kelle poolt otsustati need uuringud peatada? Kui jah, siis miks neid uuringuid tehakse? 2. Kui palju lähevad sellised uuringud maksumaksjale maksma? Kuna volikogu esimehe sõnul on ehitamine/mitte ehitamine juba otsustatud, miks ei suunata uuringutele planeeritud raha näiteks kõnniteede ehitusse? 3. Milliseid rohealade läbimurdeid Tallinna linn hetkel planeerib ja kavatseb ellu viia? 4. Kas te saate kinnitada, et Merimetsa ja Harku raba rohealasid ei hakata lõhkuma magistraalteede ega mistahes teedega? 5. Kas Tallinn vaatab üle ja muudab kõik planeeringud, mis näevad ette Harku metsa äärde magistraal- või muud sõiduteed autodele? Konkreetselt Merimetsa ja Harku raba möödasõiduteid puudutavaid uuringuid ei ole alustatud ning neid ei ole kavas Tallinna linnal ka tellida. Mõlema linnaosa koostatavate üldplaneeringute keskkonnamõjude hindamise aruanded (KSH) on hinnanud möödasõiduteede kavandamised tugeva negatiivse mõjuga looduskeskkonnale. Seetõttu on nii Põhja-Tallinna kui ka Nõmme linnaosa üldplaneeringus möödasõiduteedest läbi roheala loobutud. Merimetsa möödasõidutee osas selgitame, et koostatavas Põhja-Tallinna linnaosa üldplaneeringus on piirkonnale esitatud uus tänavavõrgu lahendus, mis toetub Põhja-Tallinna liikuvusuuringus (2014) esitatud alternatiivile. Tegemist on uue linnaosa tähtsusega põhitänavaga, mis võimaldab täiendava ühenduse loomist Paldiski mnt-ga ning leevendab Sõle tn – Paldiski mnt ristmiku koormust ning lisaks parandab vajalikku juurdepääsu külgnevatele arengualadele (Hipodroomi, Seewaldi, Lääne-Tallinna Keskhaigla territoorium).

Dear Friends from the European student movement, I am most happy to welcome you on behalf of Federation of Estonian Student Unions (EÜL) to the 35th European Students’ Convention (ESC) in Tallinn. EÜL is hosting ESC for the very first time and we have chosen our medieval yet high tech capital as the intriguing venue. The ESC “Inclusive Student Movement” concentrates on the safety and well- being of international students in the society and their inclusion in the student movement. EÜL sees problems with the latter aspects both in Estonia and in Europe at large. Together with globalization the internationalisation of higher education in Europe has increased rapidly. Each year there are more and more students who continue their studies abroad. Unfortunately, different societies are not always welcoming of international people, causing the students to experience discrimination in different forms. Furthermore not all higher education institutions are prepared to offer the necessary support and information needed to make the integration of international students and the overcoming of cultural barriers smooth. In addition, there is also a lack of representation of international students on the local, national and international level in the student bodies. The prior description paints a quite gloomy picture. We see there’s a lot of room for improvement. And there always will be because its like Don Quixote and his fights with the windmills.

We were able to increase our sales 19% and net income 51% through increased passenger and cargo volumes over the previous year. Our hotel business was in operation for the entire fi nancial year and showed satisfactory results. In the past fi nancial year we had 12 vessels operating and a 350-room hotel in the heart of Tallinn. The Supervisory Board of Tallink Grupp AS met 12 times during the past fi nancial year and some of the more substantive issues that were decided upon include the approval of the resolution of the Management Board to choose Aker Finnyards as the Builder of the new cruise ferry New Building 435 at the price of 165 million Euros. The new ferry fi nancing was also approved and delivery should be taken in the spring of 2006.
