August 12, 2017 ACCESSIBILITY GUIDE In an effort to provide a positive experience for all, AFRAM is a fully accessible event and this Accessibility Guide is designed to help everyone experience the festival fully, regardless of ability. FESTIVAL DATES & TIMES: Saturday, August 12 from 10am-8pm; Druid Hill Park in the Bowl GETTING TO THE FESTIVAL: MDOT MTA - Ride the MTA Maryland to the Baltimore AFRAM Festival! Public Transportation is the most cost-effective way to get to the event. The Mondawmin MetroLink Subway Station is within walking distance to the Festival, and is open until midnight, seven days a week. The closest MTA Bus Lines to the Mondawmin Station are LocalLinks 22, 26, 29, 79, 82, 85, 91, and CityLinks Navy, Yellow and Lime. If connecting by light rail is more convenient, Light RailLink trains operate 7 AM until 11 PM on Saturday August 12th and 11 AM until one hour after the festival ends on Sunday, August 13th. Take the Light RailLink to Cultural Center Station on Howard Street, then transfer to the CityLink Lime, or Yellow, Line Bus on North Eutaw Street. You may also explore new BaltimoreLink routes online and plan your trip at BaltimoreLink.com. Our friends from Washington D.C. can use public transportation to get to the African American Festival by taking the new MARC Train weekend service to Penn Station. Exit Penn Station onto St. Paul Street, walk two blocks south to bus stop, at Preston Street to board the CityLink Yellow or Lime Line. Check the website mta.maryland.gov/marc-train for complete schedule listings. Use your CharmCard, Monthly Pass, Weekly Pass or purchase an MTA Day Pass or round-trip ticket at the start of your trip to the African American Festival. MTA services are accessible for individuals with disabilities. Driving and Parking – Free parking is available in the park at limited locations (first come first serve). Street parking is available in surrounding neighborhoods. To park in an ADA parking space, vehicle must have valid government issued disability placard/plate clearly presented in vehicle. Bike Parking – Free parking is available at bike racks located near the Baltimore City Department Recreation and Parks administration building located at 3001 East Drive. AFRAM is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Wheelchair Accessibility: The venue will be on a grassy field with minimum paths to navigable for people in wheelchairs. AT THE FESTIVAL: Guest Services is the one stop shop for all things AFRAM. Once the festival is open to the public on Saturday at 10am until 8pm, festival-goers can visit the location next to the stage for general festival information and lost and found. Accessible portable toilets are available: o Safety City o Basketball Courts o Above the Food Village Accessible eating areas are located at: o Picnic tables will be located throughout the festival site. ATMs Information: o None available on site. Service Animals are allowed at the event. Service animals must be under the control of their owner, on a leash, and alongside of its owner at all times. Disruptive or dangerous animals and their owners will be asked to leave the site. First Aid/Medical Assistance will be located in the City Services Command Center (left of the stage on the soccer field.) Medics are roaming throughout the festival site to assist with issues. All emergency situations should be directed to 911. The festival does not provide wheelchair rentals. There is not an area to store medications. Please note: The festival site is very crowded and difficult to maneuver. Festival- goers should know how to operate their mobility devices in a safe and courteous manner.
