In response to the ever-increasing threats to terrestrial biodiversity, protected areas such as national parks have become the main tool for nature conservation across the globe. However, a closer look at protected areas shows that compliance with regulations is a significant challenge, compromising the ability of conservation efforts to fulfill their goals and protect the ecosystems as intended. If protected areas are to remain a central conservation tool, more empirical research is needed to identify and understand drivers of noncompliance. This thesis takes an in-depth look at Bjeshkët e Nemuna National Park in Kosovo. Home to over 255 endemic species, the park was established in 2012 to protect the country’s most biodiverse region.

Natural heritage of a country is one of the most important assets of it. National Parks, forest ecosystems, nature monuments and water resources, despite they are habitats for many rare species of plants and animals they cover on themselves many phenomena and rare interesting geological, morphological, hydrological and landscape characteristics which are also important sources for economic development, social welfare, education and recreation. However, uncontrolled and unplanned using of these values and natural resources can bring unrecoverable damages which will consequently have both, extinction of rare plants and animals and damage the rare natural phenomena. Considering this fact, Kosovo’s institutions have put in their priorities the protection and conservation of rare natural heritages. Today, Kosovo has about 11.5 % of its territory protected by law, under which are included the protected areas of different categories such as national parks, nature reserves, nature parks, protected monuments and other natural areas of special importance. Also, with the aim of ensuring efficient management and sustainable development of these values except the respective legislation in the field of nature protection and biodiversity are drafted strategies, action plans, spatial plans and programs even for nature of Kosovo in general or for certain areas in particular.

Abstract White Drin River and the environment around it, are very important to human kind, thus we, as a society, need to take good care of White Drin River and keep it is as clean as possible. Water quality in the basin of the White Drin River comes from anthropogenic activities, mainly from urban leaks and discharges from sewage, agriculture, as well as discharges from industry and the various factors that carry out their activities in White Drin river basin. In this study is presented the current situation of the White Drin basin, especially in thirteen locations where other tributaries flow into it, as the river Klina, Mirusha, river Ereniku and river Lumëbardhi Prizren, in order to assess the quality of the Drin river basin. This study analyzed the physical and chemical parameters, such as air temperature, water temperature, pH value, turbidity, total hardness, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, consumption of potassium permanganate, nitrates, nitrites, iron, manganese, ammonia, phosphates, etc. Water samples were analyzed in physical - chemical laboratory, with methods such as: volumetric methods, atomic absorption method (AAS), spectrophotometric methods, photometric methods, etc.

It represents the most important branch of the economy in some developed countries but also in some transition countries. Tourism is an important export product and employment generator. So it is beautifully complex because it involves a wide mix of phenomena and reports that arise at the time of the traveler. Tourism is associated with many activities that include not only economically but also social, cultural and ecological aspects of life. In Kosovo tourism is an important branch of the economy. This industry in the country has realized 8 - 10% of the country's social product. All factors that have had a direct impact such as: hotel, gastronomy including factors that have had an indirect impact such as agriculture, construction etc. are included. Therefore, the qualitative planning of space is one of the most important prerequisites for the long-term and sustainable development of tourism in Kosovo. In order to develop sustainable tourism in Kosovo, many national parks have become operational. Alp Mountains, National Park and Sharr National Park. Both play a role in tourism development on the one hand and environmental sustainability on the other. These represent good potentials for tourism development and environmental sustainability.
