Nov. 18, Parshat Toldot, 29 Cheshvan 5778

Toldot Times & Numbers: RIGHTING THE "BIRTH-WRONG" One day when the twins are 15, Esav comes back from the Candle Lighting- 4:18pm hunt empty handed, exhausted and hungry. He heads for the Mincha- 4:20pm kitchen and finds Yaakov cooking up some red lentils. On that Shacharit- 9:00 am day, their grandfather Avraham has died and Yaakov is Teen Minyan- 9:45 preparing a special mourner's meal for those sitting Shiva. Junior Congregation- 10:15 Esav eyes the food and makes a desperate attempt to get a Tot Shabbat- 10:15 bite. "I'm exhausted," Esav cries. "Give me a swallow of this Mincha -4:15 red stuff (and some of the red wine too.)" Yaakov sees this as Shabbat Ends- 5:26 pm the perfect opportunity to right a wrong. You see, Yaakov was supposed to be the B'chor but Esav was born first, so he's got NO MITZVOT IN THIS PARSHA the rights of the firstborn coming to him. That includes a NUMBER OF PESUKIM:106 double portion of the family wealth and, more important, NUMBER OF WORDS: 1432 special brachot from his father. Yaakov knows that he is NUMBER OF LETTERS: 5426 meant to have the brachot and to be the B'chor. After all, what would Esav do with a bunch of brachot? He barely believes in Hashem! This hunting dry-spell is Yaakov's ticket to birthright Israel destiny. So here's what Yaakov does...

through "Sure I'll give you some of my delicious stew, Esav," Yaakov CHESED says, "but I want one little thing in return - your birthright."

the . ages Our free ongoing class for "No problem," replies Esav. "What do I need that For Grades for!? Now shovel the 7red stuff down my throat!" and grades 8-12 continues with up. Price: Yoni this Wed. 11/21 at So Yaakov feeds Esav and walks off with a 5:45pm. Dinner and snacks pretty sweet deal - the privileges of the first born.

Esav heads back out to the fields to hunt, all the while making served. This Week’s Class: fun of Yaakov and the birthright. If Yaakov was not a you could say he got the last laugh, but a Tzadik like Yaakov ENTER Alexander! doesn’t laugh at another’s misfortune- nor should we.
