Field studies were carried out during the years 2006-2008. By using sweep net and light traps a total of 407 specimens of butterflies and moths were collected from six different localities for this study. These specimens belong to 56 diurnal and 31 nocturnal species distributed in 14 families. The distribution of species, according to families, is as follows: Zygaenidae, 2; Hesperiidae, 5; Nymphalidae, 21; Papilionidae, 1; Pieridae, 11; Lycaenidae, 13; Crambidae, 2; Pyralidae, 1; Drepanoidae, 1; Lasiocampidae, 1; Sphingidae, 1; Geometridae, 10; Erebidae, 9 and Noctuidae, 9. The evaluation of literature revealed that all of the butterflies and moths species determined in this study are newly recorded for the Lepidoptera fauna of Zorkun plateau in the Osmaniye province. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. The main collections are those of the authors: V. Specialist in Middle Nevertheless, both countries’ officials emphasize the importance of continued U.S.- Eastern Affairs Turkey cooperation and Turkey’s membership in NATO. Observers voice concerns about the largely authoritarian rule of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Clayton Thomas Turkey’s polarized electorate could affect Erdogan’s future leadership. His biggest Analyst in Middle Eastern challenge may be structural weaknesses in Turkey’s economy—including a sharp Affairs decline in Turkey’s currency—that have worsened since the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic began. The following are key factors in the U.S.-Turkey relationship. Turkey’s strategic orientation and U.S./NATO basing. Traditionally, Turkey has relied closely on the United States and NATO for defense cooperation, European countries for trade and investment, and Russia and Iran for energy imports. A number of complicated situations in Turkey’s surrounding region—including those involving Syria, Libya, Nagorno-Karabakh (a region disputed by Armenia and Azerbaijan), and Eastern Mediterranean energy exploration—affect its relationships with the United States and other key actors, as Turkey seeks a more independent role. President Erdogan’s concerns about maintaining his parliamentary coalition with Turkish nationalists may partly explain his actions in some of the situations mentioned above.

Outbreaks of this pest result in high-density populations of larvae that can cause enormous damage to trees and forests. Studies have identified an influence of larval population density on gypsy moth development, but it is not known how EGM and AGM populations differ in their response to changing larval densities. We examined the effects of varying larval density on three colonies established from one EGM population and two AGM populations. All three colonies exhibited an optimal degree of larval survival and optimal rates of pupation and adult emergence at an intermediate density of five larvae/rearing container. The duration of larval development was fastest at the same intermediate density for all three colonies. Although differences in larval development time, survival, pupation and emergence were observed among the three colonies under the conditions of our study, our findings indicate Citation: Wang, Y.; Harrison, R.L.; that density-dependent effects on the development of different gypsy moth biotypes follow the Shi, J.

It is a critical element in the decisions made by national governments in regard to the flow of trade and to the biosecurity measures imposed to protect countries from the threat of invasive species. Here we outline a novel approach to species delimitation, “tip to root”, for two highly invasive insect pests, Bemisia tabaci (sweetpotato whitefly) andLymantria dispar (Asian gypsy moth). Both species are of concern to biosecurity, but illustrate the extremes of phylogenetic resolution that present the most complex delimitation issues for biosecurity; B. tabaci having extremely high intra- specific genetic variability and L. dispar composed of relatively indistinct subspecies. This study tests a series of analytical options to determine their applicability as tools to provide more rigorous species delimitation measures and consequently more defensible species assignments and identification of unknowns

Bella, P. Parenzan & P. Russo Abstract This study summarises the known records of the Macrolepidoptera species of the “Bosco Palazzi” area near the municipality of Putignano (Apulia region) in the Murgia mountains in southern Italy. The list of species is based on historical bibliographic data along with new material collected by other entomologists in the last few decades. A total of 207 species belonging to the families Cossidae (3 species), Drepanidae (4 species), Lasiocampidae (7 species), Limacodidae (1 species), Saturniidae (2 species), Sphingidae (5 species), Brahmaeidae (1 species), Geometridae (55 species), Notodontidae (5 species), Nolidae (3 species), Euteliidae (1 species), Noctuidae (96 species), and Erebidae (24 species) were identified.
