Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck 2014 Program July 10 & 11 fyooru r rt ars Fantasies Greetings Friends, E Haijin Choi, violin Welcome to the 27th season of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck! Adam Liebert, violin Barbara Corbató, viola As I view what our Artistic Directors, Jenny Walvoord and Andrew Le, have in store for us this Aaron Tubergen, viola season, I am struck with the creative talent they bring to our program year after year, giving us Judith Vander Weg, cello a wonderful mix of the new and the old. They are instrumental in keeping chamber music vibrant and alive. The line-up of artists is excellent as are the pieces they will play. Andrew Le,

But CMFS is also vibrant and alive because of you, our appreciative audience. You are one Phantasy Quintet reason our artists love to perform here. They love to see your enthusiasm and to talk with you during the reception after each performance. Without your generosity as underwriters and as Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) donors at all levels, Chamber Music would not exist. You purchase tickets (which cover only a fraction of the costs of producing our concerts), you come to the annual Benefit (this year, June Phantasy for Piano Quartet 1, at The Old Schoolhouse and Gardens in Douglas) and bid on auction items. You volunteer for receptions, help with mailings, and tend to other special needs we may have. You share Frank Bridge (1879-1941) your enthusiasm for chamber music with others. 3 3 Our Board of Directors is a volunteer and working Board. You may enjoy knowing some of their roles in making CMFS a reality. Please give any of us your feedback — we are ready Intermission to listen! Sally Zenas sells and mails you tickets and takes care of the lobby desk before performances. Joy Muehlenbeck arranges for volunteers and puts them to work in a variety String Quartet “American” in E-flat Major, Op. 97 of tasks, including our intermission coffee service (donated by Uncommon Grounds), pouring wine (from Wine Sellers of Saugatuck), and making our delicious hors d’oeuvres for our Allegro non tanto receptions. Patrick Coyle is responsible for our new Website, Jane Dreyer takes care of all Allegro vivo printing, Doug Walvoord is Vice President and fund raising director, Michael Tischleder is Larghetto Treasurer. Joan Conway is Artistic Director Emerita and helps our Artistic Directors Jenny and Finale: Allegro giusto Drew. Judy Oberholtzer is Chair of the Benefit Committee and Paul Austin is Education v Director, responsible for our Dinner with Musicians program (in which you are invited to Antonín Leopold Dvorák (1841-1904) participate) and our educational programs for local school children and migrant children during the summer. Jim Motiff is Secretary of the Board, Communication Director (responsible 34 for the mailing list and all mailings) and is President, pro tem while Mary Ann Quick (President) is on leave.

CMFS is proud to have been awarded grants this year from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (Doug Walvoord is the grant writer), Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck and the Holland/Zeeland Community Foundation (David P. Roossein Classical Music Fund). This recognition, plus the financial support from area businesses and from so many of you in in its 27th year! our audience, is vital for our continued success and we are very thankful to have this support.

So, as we look forward to this season we are mindful of the large number of people that make July 10 concert is underwritten by Judy Oberholtzer in memory of William Oberholtzer our program and the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck successful.
