Practice for the Lackagh Church Choir has resumed on Tuesday nights in the church at 8.30 p.m. and will continue weekly. This is a great time of year for new members to join as this is when new material is learned and plans put in place for the coming year. Once again, this year we plan to expand the repertoire and to improve our vocal, musical and sound quality. No previous experience or levels of musical ability are required to join.

You just need a willingness to join in with the group, attend practice regularly and most of all - enjoy yourself!

Anam Cara is holding its monthly parent evening on Thursday 19th September from 19:30 to 21:00 at The Family Centre, Castlebar, Mayo. This event is free, open to all bereaved parents and each Anam Cara support group has a bereavement professional present to answer any questions parents may have and signpost them to other services that are available in the area.

Annagh Boys & Girls N.S’s are hosting a 5k Road Race (Walkers welcome!) on Saturday 21st September at 12.30pm in aid of the Annagh N.S Development Fund around Brooklodge, Ballyglunin. The course is AAI certified, with AAI Approval. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Male and Female on the day, plus spot prizes. The Brooklodge 5k Road Race will be run adjacent to the Abbert River and bordering the picturesque Blake’s Castle Estate passing Ballyglunin Railway Station famous for its part in the film “The Quiet Man”. Group Water Scheme Notice. The local group water scheme has now been “Taken in Charge” by Galway County Council. The scheme covers the areas of , Lackagh Village, Waterview, Ballybrone, Ballyglass, Monard, Part of Coolarne, Lackaghmore, Lackagh Road, Lackaghbeg, Knockdoebeg east and west, and part of Cahernahoon. Should anyone living in these areas have any issue with the water, or require a connection to the scheme, they should now contact Galway County Council water services department directly 091-476401. The Trustees are no longer responsible for any matters regarding supply or maintenance of the scheme.

The " Hair hurling balls Earliest artifacts of our national game" exhibition will run until May 2014. It features 14 hurling balls made from matted cow hair with a plaited horsehair covering. All the balls have been dated to the late seventeenth century or earlier. The earliest was made in the second half of the twelfth century, 800 years ago!
