Thank You: Ability West would like to acknowledge receipt of €788.80 being the proceeds of their recent Church gate collection held in Lackagh Church, and €249.45 in Coolarne Chapel recently. They would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the parishioners for giving generously to Ability West. Ability West based in Salthill, provide a range of personal high quality, community based services to persons with intellectual disabilities and their families. Tuam Cancer Care is a voluntary organisation that offers psychological, emotional and practical support to people with a cancer diagnosis and their families. The approach of the Centre is multi-disciplinary and holistic. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a person living with cancer, a support person or bereaved. All services, workshops, courses and information are provided free of charge. If you would like further information about the Centre and its services, please contact Kathy Kearney on 093-28522. David helps with collecting the baskets at Mass. Well done David. Further Congratulations: to the magnificent Under 14 team who won the All Ireland Féile last weekend in Clare. Well done and a BIG Thank you to the mentors and to the Club for all you do for the young people of the parish. We are all very proud of you. Cake sale THIS SUNDAY (27th June) in Lackagh Museum: in support of the street children in the Philippines will be held after 11.30 Mass in the Lackagh Museum . Deirdre Kelly, 86 Woodlands will be spending July and August volunteering in the Philippines in an orphanage and will use the funds for much needed supplies. PLEASE SUPPORT THIS WORTHY CAUSE. Coolarne Sports and Open Day THIS Sunday 27th June at 2pm which is a few weeks earlier than usual. Once again a great day is anticipated. All the usual events will take place. Please support and have an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. Local Water supply interruption: The local Group scheme is experiencing a water supply interruption in some areas in particular, Lackagh village, Lackagh Rd, Knockdoe, and Monard. This would appear to be due to current very high demand as well as some possible leaks. Would people throughout the area please check your mains to ensure that there are no leaks. In particular, can farmers check water pipes and water meters to ensure their usage is normal. We have undertaken a general survey over the last number of days of the mains network. If anyone discovers a substantial leak in the mains in their own land or notice anything throughout the group area, please contact Feargal Cavanagh at 0879826312 or Danny Monaghan at 091 797226. Benefit Concert “Mid Summer Melodies”: Junior Chamber (Ireland) JCI Galway in partnership with children‟s cancer charity for the West, CD’s Helping Hands are having a benefit concert “Mid Summer Melodies” which is taking place on Friday 2nd July at 8pm, in the Galway Bay Hotel. This night will see spectacular performances from an eclectic line-up including Sean Costello, Frank Naughton , Buck Taylor, Brendan O‟Byrne, Annette Griffin, Darragh McGann, Sheelagh Chadwick, GoGoshka Kinkladze and Keith McDonald. The line-up will be complemented by a special guest MC who is yet to be revealed. Tickets €30 and are available from the Galway Bay Hotel and Zhivago on Shop Street or on the evening at the door. Entry includes a wine reception and a light buffet at 7pm. CD’s Helping Hands is the only children‟s cancer charity in Ireland and provides practical domestic support to families in the west of Ireland who are affected by a diagnosis of childhood cancer. The four primary services offered to families are assistance with childcare, household cleaning, laundry and meal delivery. These essential domestic duties are vital to help support families as they battle through the painful, devastating and heart breaking circumstance that come with childhood cancer. Both weeks cater for all age groups starting at 4 up to the age of 12 /13 yrs. All children are grouped to their age and can enjoy their summer holidays with fun activities in: Computers, Arts & Crafts, Drama, Cooking, Sport & lots fun games, Card Making, Hair & Beauty Day, Jewellery, Making, Quizzes.
