World Youth Day 2011 takes place from Aug 15-22. A group of young people from our diocese will be among the expected 2 million pilgrims in Madrid. A limited number of places are still available. Children’s Playground for Lackagh Parish Community: A meeting will be held next Thursday evening 3rd Feb. at 8:00pm (after Mass) in the Mortuary Chapel to look at the possibility of providing a playground for the young children of our Community. Parents are asked to attend the meeting.

Save our Bogs/Preserve our Future: a Meeting of Turf Cutters and Contractors Association will take place at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone THIS Sunday 30th Jan. at 3p.m. to preserve the right to cut turf for our own use in our own bogs. It is important that a large number of people attend this demonstration rally as a show of force, so close to the General Election. Anyone with an interest in turf cutting is asked to attend this very important meeting. Guest speakers and RTE will be present on the day. VOTE Cosa Beaga – All Ireland Talent Competition RTE 1 THIS Sunday 30th January: Our Neighbouring Parish Abbeyknockmoy Set Dancers Club is representing the West on Sunday the 30th January on RTE1 at 6.30 p.m. This is a great achievement for such a young group of dancers who range in age from 8 - 13. As the public vote makes up half the overall score, we need your help to promote the group and spread the word as regards voting on the night. They will not be allocated a number until the show begins and you cannot vote until all of the acts have performed.
