At last, further people are thanked in the individual parts of this thesis. ii ABSTRACT The aim of this dissertation research was an examination of the homobasidiomycete genus Polyporus as currently circumscribed. Emphasis was on addressing the genus by a variety of tools appropriate to modern monographic studies, without producing another worldwide monograph. In addition to morphological examination, which traditionally was the basis of all fungal systematics, mating experiments with monokaryotic cultures, and contemporary phylogenetic tools were used. For P. alveolaris, P. arcularius, P. badius, P. brumalis, P. ciliatus, P. dictyopus, P. guianensis, P. melanopus, P. tubaeformis, P. tuberaster, P. tricholoma, P. umbellatus, and P. varius a tetrapolar mating system was confirmed. Intercollection mate recognition was tested in P. alveolaris, P. arcularius, P. brumalis, P. ciliatus, P. tubaeformis, P. tuberaster, P. tricholoma, and P. varius. In both P. varius and P. tubaeformis cultures from European and North American collections were found to be compatible. In P. tricholoma, the existence of at least two cryptic biological species entities was found to be contained under the species epithet, whereas in P. alveolaris there may also be cryptic species. The type specimen of P. tricholoma was studied and one of the P. tricholoma cryptic species selected to represent P. tricholoma proper. Sequence analyses of nuclear ribosomal DNA were utilized to elucidate relationships of Polyporus and allied genera. With large subunit (nLSU) data, the genus Polyporus was found to be non-inclusive under current limits. The infrageneric group Polyporellus was transferred into an emended genus Lentinus, which traditionally was a genus of gilled fungi. The thelephoroid-hydnoid fungus Mycobonia flava was transferred into Polyporus. Investigation of relationships of infrageneric groups in Polyporus revealed ITS region rDNA template heterogeneity, supported groups seen in nLSU analyses, and was able to differentiate morphological or biological species. Specific primers and RFLP markers for P. tricholoma were evaluated for identification of cryptic species, but were rather successful in uncovering rDNA copy heterogeneity. As a consequence of molecular data and nomenclatural considerations, a new subgenus Favoliporus was proposed to absorb infrageneric groups Favolus and Admirabilis. Трутовый гриб Piptoporus quercinus (Schrad.) P. Karst. (=Buglossoporus pulvinus (Pers.) Donk) входит в число редких видов макромицетов, имеющих высокий природоохранный статус во многих странах Европы. Этот гриб развивается на старовозрастных дубах (Quercus spp.), и его численность существенно сокращается по мере уничтожения коренных дубрав [2; 5; 13; 15-19; 21; 22]. В Украине вид Piptoporus quercinus известен всего по нескольким находкам, и до недавнего времени был обнаружен на территории двух ботанико-географических регионов страны: Карпат и Закарпатья [1; 4]. В период 2002-2006 гг. этот вид был впервые обнаружен нами в Левобережной Украине: на валежных стволах и пнях Quercus robur L. в различных кварталах Национального природного парка «Гомольшанские леса». Учитывая редкость этого вида в общемировом масштабе, мы считаем необходимым привести подробную морфолого-таксономическую и экологическую характеристику этого вида, описать локалитеты его обнаружения на территории парка, а также мероприятия, необходимые для его сохранения.

In general, fungi will grow in humid environmental conditions, especially during the rainy season on weathered wood, litter and trees. Macro fungi are fungi that form fruiting bodies and can be observed without using a microscope. Macro fungi generally consist of members of the Ascomycota and Basidomycota groups. This study aims to determine which mushrooms are included in the Polyporales order that grows in TWA Suranadi Methods: This research is descriptive exploratory by exploring and describing the macrophages found in TWA Suranadi. Sampling was carried out by the cruise method (Cruise Method). Identification is done by matching observational data in the form of morphological characteristics and environmental conditions using reference books and various scientific journals on macrofungal species. Results: The results showed that there were 7 species from 2 fungal families of the Polyporales order, namely: Trametes sp., Microporus sp. 1, Microporus sp. 2, Polyporus sp. 1, Polyporus sp. 2, Datronia sp. and Ganoderma sp. Conclusion: Based on the identification results, 2 families and 8 species were found belonging to the Polyporales order in TWA Suranadi, namely Trametes sp., Microporus sp. 1, Microporus sp. 2, Polyporus sp. 1, Polyporus sp. 2, Datronia sp., and Ganoderma sp.     POLYPORES of the Mediterranean Region A. BERNICCHIA & S.P. GORJÓN with the contribution of L. ARRAS, M. FACCHINI, G. PORCU and G. TRICHIES The book we are presenting here focuses on the Polyporaceae species of the Mediterranean re- gion, one of the hot spots of biodiversity of the Planet, also including references to polypores of northern Europe. The volume of about 900 pages contains updated nomenclatural information for the polypore fungi found in the Mediterranean and adjacent areas, with 116 genera and 435 species accepted and described, and six new combinations proposed. For most species a complete description is given with macro- and microphotographs, with comments on ecology and geo- graphical distribution. Keys are provided for all genera and species. Since the publication of the book of Annarosa Bernicchia, Polyporaceae s.l. in 2005, new species have been described and a number of nomenclatural changes have been proposed. While maintaining the essence of a classic monograph with keys, descriptions and macro photo- graphs, we have also included as a true novelty microscopical images aimed at ensuring a direct vision of relevant characteristics of fungal structures. Most of these images were contributed by Luigi Arras, Annarosa Bernicchia, Marco Facchini, Marcel Gannaz, Giuseppe Porcu and Gérard Trichies, allowing an entirely new view compared to classical taxonomy books on fungi, mainly based on drawings from the microscope. A fair number of macroscopic pictures were generously granted by several colleagues, whom we thank for their valuable contribution. Text and keys have been written by Annarosa Bernicchia and Sergio P. Gorjόn according to updated taxonomic know- ledge, with comments on between-genera phylogenetic relationships.

Author for correspondence: Alfredo Justo, [email protected] Abstract: The phylogeny of Trametes and related genera was studied using molecular data from ribosomal markers (nLSU, ITS) and protein-coding genes (RPB1, RPB2, TEF1-alpha) and consequences for the taxonomy and nomenclature of this group were considered. Separate datasets with rDNA data only, single datasets for each of the protein-coding genes, and a combined five-marker dataset were analyzed. Molecular analyses recover a strongly supported trametoid clade that includes most of Trametes species (including the type T. suaveolens, the T. versicolor group, and mainly tropical species such as T. maxima and T. cubensis) together with species of Lenzites and Pycnoporus and Coriolopsis polyzona. Our data confirm the positions of Trametes cervina (= Trametopsis cervina) in the phlebioid clade and of Trametes trogii (= Coriolopsis trogii) outside the trametoid clade, closely related to Coriolopsis gallica. The genus Coriolopsis, as currently defined, is polyphyletic, with the type species as part of the trametoid clade and at least two additional lineages occurring in the core polyporoid clade. In view of these results the use of a single generic name (Trametes) for the trametoid clade is considered to be the best taxonomic and nomenclatural option as the morphological concept of Trametes would remain almost unchanged, few new nomenclatural combinations would be necessary, and the classification of additional species (i.e., not yet described and/or sampled for mo- lecular data) in Trametes based on morphological characters alone will still be possible.
