La definizione da dizionario del termine “autoctono” deriva dal greco autóchthon, che significa qualcosa o qualcuno “che proviene dalla propria terra”. Nel nostro caso specifico, le materie prime che provengono da ben delimitate aree o regioni per produrre le specialità che offriamo. Perche crediamo nei prodotti autoctoni? Quando le materie prime (elementi) vengono coltivati in regioni diverse da quelle di loro provenienza raramente danno gli stessi risultati. Ciò avviene a causa del rapporto millenario che si é instaurato tra l’uomo, la sua storia, la sua cultura ed il territorio. Un’area o “terroir” ha caratteristiche uniche che influiscono sugli elementi locali. Ciò garantisce la qualità e il carattere dei prodotti autoctoni. Al giorno d’ oggi le regioni di produzione sono di solito suddivise in due macro-aree: il Nuovo e il Vecchio Mondo. Grosse differenze sussistono tra queste due aree. L’Italia, ad esempio, da sola , con più di 400 vitigni autoctoni recentemen- te catalogati e non riproducibili all’estero, al momento produce più vini “originali” di ogni altro stato al Mondo. Lo stesso dicasi per formaggi e altre decine di prodotti o elementi della ns dieta millenaria ed unica al mondo. Cavallotti, 22-20089 Rozzano Milano - Italy Mobile 338.45.34.114 - [email protected] - www.e-ventimediterranei.it FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA Nota soprattutto per i vini bianchi e i passiti, come il Ramandolo e il Picolit, il Friuli Venezia Giulia è una regione ricca di vitigni autoctoni dai nomi curiosi: ribolla gialla, schiopettino, refosco dal peduncolo rosso, terrano. Il paesaggio vira dal mare ai monti e le influenze microclimatiche incidono sulle caratteristiche dei vini. Tra le principali zone di produzione ci sono i Colli Orientali, il Collio, l’Isontino, il Carso, il basso Friuli e l’area della Doc Grave. Fondata dai Romani come colonia militare nel 181 a.C. Aquileia nei secoli successivi assunse un volto nuovo con l’arrivo del Cristianesimo. E’ tra i più importanti siti archeologici dell’Italia settentrionale. Ha una basilica di grande valore architettonico, edificata inizialmente nell’anno 313 d.C. e composta da due aule parallele. Tra il 1021 e il 1031 fu realizzata una ricostruzione per desiderio del patriarca Popone e fu costruito il campanile a cuspide, di 73 metri. Nuovi interventi in stile gotico si ebbero dopo il terre- moto del 1348. Successivamente sovrapposizioni rinascimentali. Cavallotti, 22-20089 Rozzano Milano - Italy Mobile 338.45.34.114 - [email protected] - www.e-ventimediterranei.it BORGO MAGREDO La storia di Borgo Magredo ebbe inizio nel 1989, quando Genagricola acquisì un’Azienda di oltre 200 ettari sulle Grave del Friuli, nel Comune di Spilimbergo. Gli agronomi dell’Azienda intuirono da subito le ottime potenzialità vitivinicole di questo territorio, e dedicarono parte dei terreni alla coltivazione della vite. Si procedette da subito con metodo, instau- rando una profonda e duratura relazione con i Vivai Cooperativi di Rauscedo, per identificare i cloni più adatti a questo tipo di terreno, estremamente ricco di ghiaia e sassi (i famosi “claps” tipici delle Grave), e si iniziò un graduale reimpianto delle viti, secondo logiche moderne e in grado di valorizzare sia i vitigni che le peculiarità del territorio. In 20 anni si sono reimpiantati oltre 200 ettari di vigneto testando anche cultivar sperimentali per questi territori, come il Pinot nero (diventato poi un grande classico) oppure il Moscato rosa. Sul fronte enologico, la cantina di Borgo Magredo fu dotata delle più raffinate tecnologie per la vinificazione e l’affinamento: vasche d’acciaio in grado di mantenere le temperature desiderate in fase di vinificazione, presse pneumatiche per la spremitura soffice delle uve, tutto l’occorrente per garantire una produzione eccellente. Nel 2004, quando vengono formalmente istituite Le Tenute di Genagricola, Borgo Magredo è ormai un’affermata realtà produttiva, capace di esportare l’eccellenza dei vini friulani in tutta Italia e in oltre 30 paesi nel mondo. Ma il percorso di crescita dell’Azienda non si arresta: continuano gli investimenti sui vigneti e la ricerca enologica, che spinge l’Azienda a collaborare col prestigioso Winemaker Donato Lanati, i risultati non si fanno attendere. Nel 2011, Borgo Magredo è pronta a rimettersi in gioco con una linea di prodotti innovativa: nuova nei contenuti, perché i vini sono il risultato di questi (quasi quaranta!!) anni di studio e ricerca le vigne hanno raggiunto la piena maturità e sono in grado di fornire uve capaci di esaltare le caratteristiche di ogni singolo varietale. I vini di Borgo Magredo si propongono in una nuova veste, originale, di grande fascino, che getta un ponte tra classicità e futuro. La perfetta commistione tra una cultura enologica secolare e uno stile di beva contemporaneo: questo l’obiettivo dell’Azienda riassunto nel design delle bottiglie. Dalle uve della tradizione viticola friulana, grandi classici del territorio, vini di “taglio moderno”, con cura e dedizione ar- tigianale. Dieci referenze dalla forte connotazione varietale, tutti vinificati utilizzando solo uve di proprietà dell’Azienda, la qualità senza compromessi ha il coraggio di porsi con tono scherzoso ed originale, sganciandosi dagli stereotipi di serietà che troppo spesso ammantano il mondo di Bacco. The singularly complex geological structure of Riquewihr’s terroir is principally composed of marine sediments from the secondary era ; these of Family Tradition vary from limestone to clay, from gypsum to Triassic marl. Traces of basalt even point to past volcanic activity. It has taken several generations of the Hugel family to understand and fully domesticate this tremendous mosaic of soils by adapting the most suitable vine varieties and methods of culture. The clay-marl slopes of the Schoenenbourg have been Sporen renowned since the Middle Ages for producing “the Postig noblest wines of all the country“. The characteristic laminated Jurassic clay of the Sporen gives great depth to Gewurztraminer. To complete the trio, the predominantly chalky and very “Burgundian“ soils of the Pfl ostig provide perfect conditions for the Pinot family of grapes to fully express themselves. Such diversity is further enhanced by granitic deposits that will give future vintages a potential that is as yet unexplored. Prepared by Professor Miguel Angel Llano Irusta ( [email protected] ) VEGA-SICILIA GROUP Executive Summany The current of Vega Sicilia Group began in 1982, when David Álvarez acquired the winery and the vineyards from the Venezuelan businessman Miguel Neumann. Since that year, the Álvarez Mezquíriz family has developed a policy of harmonisation of present innovative techniques required by the wine sector with the traditional winemaking process. The vineyard area has been extended and a modernisation process has taken place both in and out of the winery. From 1982 to 1985 Jesús Anadón (that began to work on Vega Sicilia in the 50´s) was the General Manager The retirement of Jesús Anadón meant the leaving of a man who assumed his responsibilities as director and oenologist of Vega Sicilia in a highly personal way. On his departure, Pablo Álvarez took full possession of the general management of the winery; the oenology area was taken on by Mariano García, who had been Jesús Anadón´s assistant since joining the company in 1968. 1998 saw the incorporation of Xavier Ausás into the technical management of the winery group after working for six years as oenologist in Vega Sicilia. Xavier, together with his sister Mercedes, and Begoña Jovellar, is the father, master and educator of the company´s wines. In 1993, Vega Sicilia founds Tokaj Oremus. The personality of the Álvarez family adds to the historic tradition of both wines. Pablo Álvarez, managing director of Vega Sicilia, is also responsible for this new project.

The Drinkward Peschon 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley is a delightfully fresh, vibrant, non-grassy style of Sauvignon Blanc from the superstar team of Lisa Drinkward and Françoise Peschon (Françoise was named the San Francisco Chronicle’s 2019 Winemaker of the Year). Only 62 cases produced. The Carte Blanche 2012 Pinot Noir, Nobles Ranch Vineyard, Sonoma Coast offers a rare opportunity to experience a cool climate Pinot Noir in its sweet spot of development at 8 years of age and enjoy the added aromatic and flavor nuances that only come with bottle age. Only 250 cases produced. Dry Creek Valley is ground zero for some of the best old-vine Zinfandels in California and the Elyse 2014 Zinfandel was produced from vines dating back to 1913. It is a beautiful wine balancing precise berry and spice character with old-vine intensity. Only 570 cases produced. The Acoya 2017 Red Blend from Napa is a rich and flavorful blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 16% Syrah and 4% Malbec.
