Important News from Israel: Not Rockets. Not Politics. It’s Flutes!

On Sunday, Jan. 12, 10:45-11:30 am, come to a free concert with “4 Flute Flight,” the high school jazz ensemble from the Thelma Yellin School of Arts in Givatayim, Israel.

The school was founded 45 years ago in memory of Israeli cellist Thelma Bentwich Yellin, who immigrated to Israel in the 1920s from England. It was her dream to establish a high school that would nurture the special talents of artistically gifted students.

It is a national school drawing students from all over the country. Students are offered a rich and challenging academic program with courses in six majors: dance (ballet and modern dance), classical music, jazz, drama, film, and visual arts. All the students matriculate at the end of the 12th grade and are qualified for entrance into all universities, both in Israel and abroad. Bringing the “sounds of modern flute to new heights,” The 4 Flute Flight ensemble 4 Flute Flight is “one of the freshest world-jazz combos was established in 2009 and performing worldwide today.” combines four unique flute voices with an energetic, acoustic rhythm section.
