Book of Remembrance Remembrance2020-2021 A 5781 BETH TFILOH CONGREGATION Baltimore, Maryland 1 Remembrance 2 Book of Remembrance Yizkor Dates 2020-2021 • 5781 Yom Kippur ............................................. September 28, 2020 Remembrance Shemini Atzeret ...........................................October 10, 2020 Pesach - 8th Day .................................................April 4, 2021 Shavuot - 2nd Day.............................................May 18, 2021 1 This book is dedicated in loving memory to our teacher, friend and spiritual leader RABBI DOCTOR SAMUEL ROSENBLATT 1902—1983 who unselfishly devoted his life in service to the Beth Tfiloh Congregation and all its members. 2 MEMORIALN SERVICE The Significance of Yizkor One of the foremost generators of moral strength in man is filial piety, that feeling of loyalty that children entertain for the memory of their departed parents, that bond which binds together the inhabitants of two worlds—the world of the living with that of the dead. It is because it taps this well-spring of human emotions that the memorial service on the Day of Atonement, Yizkor, which is dedicated to resurrecting from the limbo of the past the personalities of loved ones who are no more, retains its universal appeal. No one who is imbued with the least particle of reverence for his or her forbearers will miss this opportunity on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar year for expressing what is in his or her heart toward those dear souls to whom he or she owes so much of his or her life and being. We know that what we are today is due chiefly to the way in which they who came before us conducted themselves. -

Press Release April 6 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For more information, contact: RKR-CB (505) 250-3105 [email protected] NEW CD “SHOTGUN” BOB ANDREWS AND SPECIAL GUESTS April 6, 2012 (New Orleans, Louisiana)--Released just in time for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the CD “SHOTGUN” is brand new music featuring Bob Andrews playing with some of the best musicians in New Orleans. SHOTGUN was inspired by a book by RKR- CB (also called SHOTGUN to be released April 20, 2012) which is a curious mix of images of the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods juxtaposed with edgy graphic art and an eclectic short story. Known throughout New Orleans and the world as a keyboard player, Bob Andrews instead plays guitar on all tracks of SHOTGUN for a new sound that reflects a merging of Bob’s British rock and R&B roots with New Orleans funk and blues. The songs are fresh, edgy, and innovative. The music and the intriguing lyrics capture the energy of New Orleans with sultry and vivid flavors of lust and love in a rollicking zest for life. SHOTGUN brings together diverse and talented musicians including Alex McMurray, Johnny Sansone, Cornell Williams, Jermal Watson, Calvin Johnson, and Red Priest. SHOTGUN was recorded at Piety Street Recording by Wes Fontenot and mixed by John Porter. Development of the SHOTGUN CD was partially supported through a grant from the Threadhead Cultural Foundation. SHOTGUN is the first in a series of collaborative projects by RKR-CB to promote New Orleans musicians in tandem with a companion book. The next RKR- CB book/CD project, “INVISIBLE LOVE” will be released later in 2012. -
