WASHINGTON

November 18, 1975

Dear Mrs. Ford,

Here are the thank-you letters for some of the

gifts from the YWCA International Fair. There will be more

coming.

On theee (3) of the gifts I am awaiting information

as to the donors.

Five of the gifts were evaluated by the State

Department as being over $50 ••.••.• and therefore falling within

the provisions of the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act of 1966.

I am disputing four of these evaluations and checking further to

verify.

Enclosed is the "blue" card on the yerba-mate

pot. Please let me know if you would like this gift sent over.

Eventually it will have to be accessioned as a display piece for

the President Ford Library and Museum. Please return the

"blue" card when you are finished with it.

Many thanks, ) 1~ . L Marge W~ein I t ,

-- ~- THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON

June 24, 1975

Dear Mrs. Ford,

I realize this is all past history now -- but thought perhaps you would want to see the listing of the gifts given and received on the European trip.

In the future, please be assured that the memorandum of suggested gifts will come to your attention before departing on the trip. Mz~ Gift Unit ,, DEPARTMENT OF S T ATE

Washin&ton, O.C. 20520

MEMORANDUM TO THE PRESIDENT THE WHITE HOUSE

Subject: Gifts for Possible Presentation on Your and , Mrs. Ford's Trip to Europe .

Attached are lists of those gifts which I would recommend for ·presentation should gift exchanges develop on your tripo All of these designated gifts have been generously donated by the· artists/craftsmen/firms for your and Mrso Ford's presentations. Additionally, we have prepared a supply of undesignated contingent gifts, many of which have:also been donated with the remaining having been purchased prior to your becoming President.

Thus your gifts on this t~ip will not have incurred any expense to the taxpayers at this time.

I would suggest that should you wish to present inscribed photographs, use of shots taken together with the intended recipients during your visit would be especially meaningful. A supply of silver frames with Presidential Seals will accompany the other contingent gifts.
