The BIG EAST Conference attracts the interest of fans in nine of the nation’s largest media markets including New York, Chicago, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Washington, D.C., and Milwaukee.

Founded by Dave Gavitt in 1979, the BIG EAST reorganized in 2013, entering a new era by returning to its basketball-focused heritage. The BIG EAST continues to differentiate itself as one of the nation’s elite basketball conferences, sending each of its ten teams to a postseason tournament in 2019, including four to the ncaa tournament. In 2020, the University of Connecticut will rejoin the BIG EAST as the Conference’s 11th team.

The conference's broadcasting contract with FOX Sports continues to provide maximum exposure for both organizations, as the 2018 BIG EAST Tournament delivered the highest conference tournament ratings for FOX Sports. During the 2018-19 season, every BIG EAST Conference Men’s Basketball game was broadcast on the FOX Sports family of networks which includes FOX Sports 1 and 2, as well as its digital streaming service, FOX Sports Go.

As part of this partnership, FOX Sports continues to utilize the BIG EAST with the latest innovations in sports broadcasts, including its widely-acclaimed “All Access” games that features a commercial-free broadcast, both coaches live mic’d and unprecedented access to the team benches and locker rooms.

In 2019-20, Head Coach Dave Leitao is returning an exciting blend of new and returning players. DePaul will be led by Juniors Paul Reed, Devin Gage, and Jaylen Butz, all of whom delivered significant contributions to the team this past season. They will be supported by guards Flynn Cameron, Lyrik Shreiner, and starter Jalen Coleman-Lands, who will be returning to the lineup after a season-ending injury last year.

Joining them will be the #25 recruiting class in the country comprised of Romeo Weems, winner of Michigan’s 2019 Mr. Basketball award and the 42nd ranked recruit in the country, Markese Jacobs, ranked #84 and viewed by many analysts as the Chicago-area’s best player, and all-around guard Oscar Lopez. The Blue Demons will also have three very talented transfer students joining the team: Carte’Are Gordon from St. Louis University, and Darious Hall from Arkansas University, who will both be eligible to play in 2019-20, and highly talented Charlie Moore from Kansas University, who may also be eligible to play next season.

A pioneer and crusader for women's basketball at all levels, Doug Bruno will begin his 34th season at the helm of Blue Demon program in 2019-20.

Coach Bruno represented the United States at the 2014 FIBA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Turkey and captured a gold medal during both the 2012 & 2016 Olympic games, in London and Rio respectively, as an Assistant Coach.

Has led the DePaul Women’s Basketball team to 17 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, a total of 24 appearances since 1988.

Coach Bruno earned his 700th career coaching victory on February 9th, 2018, after the Blue Demons defeated Butler 86-68.

Named the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in three of the last six seasons: 2013-14, 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Named the 2017 WBCA Division I Regional Coach of the Year. DePaul Women’s basketball

Selected to the NCAA tournament during the 2018-19 season for the 17th consecutive year, the Blue Demons are one of only six Division I programs to earn selection into the last 17 NCAA Tournaments, along with Connecticut, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford and Tennessee.

DePaul Women’s Softball program continues to rank among the nation’s elite. They boast 20 NCAA Regional Tournament appearances and have made four Women’s College World Series appearances since 1999.

Coaching legend Eugene Lenti retired after 37 seasons at the helm of the Blue Demons, currently ranked sixth all-time in NCAA history with 1,303 wins.

Former DePaul All-American pitcher Tracie Adix-Zins (2004-07) returned to Lincoln Park to lead the softball program, and The Blue Demons won their third straight BIG EAST Championship in Coach Adix-Zins’ first year.

Four Blue Demons were named to All-BIG EAST awards. Sophomore Maranda Gutierrez is named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as well as being named to the All-BIG EAST First Team alongside junior Jessica Cothern. Sophomore Kate Polucha and freshman Gabby O'Riley were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Home softball games are played at Cacciatore Stadium located at Sheffield and Belden in the heart of Lincoln Park. Former Blue Demon mark Plotkin enters his second season at the helm of his alma mater in 2019. Plotkin was a four-year starter for the Blue demons from 2006-09 and also served as an assistant coach from 2012-13.

DePaul head coach Erin Chastain enters her 13th season leading the women's soccer program in 2019. Over the last five seasons, DePaul is 54-24-21 with a pair of NCAA tournament appearances, a BIG EAST tournament title, conference regular-season title and an All-American recipient.

Home soccer matches are played at Wish Field inside Cacciatore Stadium on the corner of Sheffield and Belden in the heart of Lincoln Park.

Head Coach Marie Zidek returns for her second season at the helm in 2019 after previously serving as an Assistant Coach from 2010-2012.

She will be joined on staff by assistant coaches Erin Higgins and Nick Vogel.
