Mark Plotkin - Head Coach (Fourth Season) Former DePaul standout Mark Plotkin will begin his fourth season at the helm of the DePaul men’s soccer program. He was named the seventh head coach in program history on Dec. 21, 2017 by athletic director Jean Lenti Ponsetto. He played for the Blue Demons from 2006-09 and most recently was associate head coach at Colgate University.

Plotkin secured his first career victory as head coach against then-No. 14 ranked Western Michigan and finished out the season with a 5-9-3 record, including a 2-1 double OT win over BIG EAST foe Providence and a 1-0 defeat of Xavier.

In addition to being a four-year starter at Wish Field during his playing career, Plotkin also served as an assistant coach during the 2012 and 2013 seasons for DePaul. During his playing career, Plotkin helped the Blue Demons to four consec- utive appearances in the BIG EAST Championship tournament, including semifinal appearances in 2007 and 2008. Plotkin was a driving force behind DePaul winning the BIG EAST Division title and earning the first program appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2007. He finished his career in 2009 tied for fifth all-time in games started with 74.

Cole Bushue - Assistant Coach (Fourth Season) Cole Bushue begins his fourth season as an assistant coach of the men’s soccer team since starting with the program on January 22, 2018.

Bushue has a diverse background that features a range of coaching and administrative experiences in the world of soccer. Prior to joining the DePaul staff, Bushue worked as a talent identification manager with U.S. Soccer where he managed the scouting network for U.S. Soccer for all youth national teams, men and women, from U14 to U20.

Before joining the U.S. Soccer staff, Bushue spent two years with the Sockers FC Chicago organization as the director of player personnel and college placement. He also spent two years with Libero as its chief scout and director of United States player operations. During that time, Bushue worked directly with MLS, NASL, and USL clubs on potential transfer targets and free-agent signings as well as analyzing scouting film and game video of players.

Tyler Keever - Assistant Coach (Fourth Season) Tyler Keever enters his fourth season as an assistant coach with the men’s soccer program after beginning his tenure on January 22, 2018.

Prior to DePaul, Keever spent two seasons at Colgate where he assisted the Raiders in goalkeeper training, opponent scouting, video editing, on-and-off campus recruiting, individual player development, and day-to-day operations. He helped guide Colgate to its sixth-ever Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance during his first season with the Raiders in 2016. He assists in many of these efforts for the Blue Demons as well.

He mentored the Colgate goalkeepers that secured nine shutouts on the season, good for a shutout percentage of 0.41 that finished the season ranked 37th in all of Division I. The Raiders went 13-7-2 overall in 2016, tying a program record for wins in a single season. In 2017, Keever mentored a squad that made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament after winning a seventh-ever Patriot League title, finishing with a 12-11-1 record, where the coaches were named the North- east Region Staff of the Year.

Chris Leer - Volunteer Assistant Coach (First Season) Chris Leer joins the Blue Demons as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2021 season. Leer begins at DePaul after serving as an assistant coach for the Northwestern men’s soccer program from 2019-21. In Evanston, Leer assisted with all as- pects of the Wildcats’ men’s soccer program. Leer helped the Wildcats to a 8-8-2 record and a fourth-place Big Ten finish in 2019. Six players were voted to All-Big Ten squads during Leer’s two years with the program.

Prior to his time at Northwestern, Leer spent five seasons as an assistant at UC Davis, his alma mater. Leer also held an assistant coaching position with the Augsburg women’s soccer program in Minneapolis from 2012-14, prior to securing his role back at UC Davis.

Leer earned his masters in education from the University of Minnesota in 2013 and graduated with a bachelors of arts degree from UC Davis in 2011.

As a player, Leer was a four-year letter winner for the Aggies from 2006-09, helping UC Davis to a pair of NCAA Division I Tournament berths in 2007 (First Round) and 2008 (Second Round) while earning All-Big West Honorable Mention honors as a senior. He finished his Aggies career with 13 goals and seven assists (33 points), tying for second on the team in goals (5) as a sophomore and finishing second on the team in both goals (4) and points (12) as a senior, starting all 19 matches.
