Over the last 15 yeaLs, Malaysia's economy has undergone fundamental changes. With the oil crisis of the early 1970s and the country's development of its own petroleum industry,Malaysia found itself in a situationof rapidly increasingrevenues and high economic growth. As the economy expanded, pressures on the transportsystem began to be felt and major investmentsin transportwere subsequentlyundertaken. ii. With the collapse of the oil price and decliningterms of trade for its other exports, Malaysia is now sufferingfrom a rather severe economic slowdownwhich is foriing the Governmentto find ways of meeting its transport requirementswithout relying solely on additional infrastructureinvestments. Strategies are also needed to deal with the problems brought about by the rapid and often uncoordinateddevelopment of the transport system during the past decade. iii. This report,which attempts to respond to these needs, represents the outcome of the first serious dialogue between the Bank and the Malaysian Government on the domestic transport sector in over 15 years. As a sector document it differs from the usual Bank report in that it is a cooperative effort between the Government and the Bank. A team in the Ministry of Transport (MOT) was set up with four full-timeministry staff, supportedby technicalassistance, to fully participatein data collection,analysis and report writing. Consultantswere also engaged by the Bank to produce back- ground papers on specific topics, and these papers combinedwith the MOT team's output form the basis of the report. It should be noted, however, that the views expressed in the report, the issues singled out, and the recodmmenda- tions made, all reflect the Bank's own position. iv. From the beginning, the main objectiveof the report was to identify the critical bottlenecksto transportefficiency given that Governmentwas interested in minimizing

Among these modes, bus transportation continues to be the top choice for intercity travelers in Malaysia. Bus offers more flexibility compared to the other transport modes. Due to its relatively cheaper fare as compared to the air transport, bus is more affordable to those with low income. However, bus transport service today is starting to face higher competition from rail and air transport due to their attractive factors. The huge challenge faced by intercity bus transport in Malaysia is the management of its services. The intercity bus transport does not fall under one management; unlike rail transport which is managed under Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), or air transport which is managed under Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).

A total of 783 complaints were registered with MAVCOM for the period 1 July to 31 December 2019, with 751 complaints on airlines and 32 on airports. This is a decrease of 4.7% as compared to the period 1 July to 31 December 2018, when MAVCOM registered 822 complaints. 98.6% of the complaints received for the period 1 July to 31 December 2019 have been resolved and closed by MAVCOM. Mishandled baggage, processing of refunds and flight delay issues represent 51.9% of the nature of complaints received by MAVCOM during this period. Through the Commission’s review of the complaints for the period 1 July to 31 December 2019, 51.0% of the complaints resulted in the airlines reversing its initial decision and producing a resolution that is more equitable or satisfactory to the consumer than initially provided.

The goal of this research is to identify the heatmap trends of the Klang Valley railway stations which included Kuala Lumpur as urban public transport sectors. It was based on the OSM image layer from the year 1990 to 2019 and studied the growth of railway networks through a polyline pattern analysis.

The success of road construction on soft soils relies on various important factors such as proper planning, analysis, design, construction, control and supervision. For Engineers, the primary boundary conditions are the stability and allowable settlement in terms of serviceability limits both as a function of time. Our current observation reveals that many of the road embankments and culvert foundation failures are associated with geotechnical factors. Majority of these failures are still repeating and quite identical / similar in nature that they are caused by failure to comply with one or a combination of the above factors. This paper presents some of the case histories of the road embankment construction closely related to the geotechnical factors investigated by the Author. Lastly, some simple guidelines on Method of Treatment, Cost and Design Principle to prevent future embankment failures related to geotechnical factors on soft ground are presented. INTRODUCTION Sarawak has approximately 1.7 million ha of tropical peat that covers 13% of the total land area (12.4 million ha.). It is the largest area of peatland in Malaysia. It constitutes nearly 63% of the total peatland of the country. More than 80% of the peats are more than 2.5 m depth.
