People Helping People

A Message From Our Worthy President

Hello Brothers, Happy Holidays I would like to thank Valerie for doing the dance lessons to raise money for her charity, and the dance lessons will start up again next year. We will be having our pasta dinner on Wednesday December 2nd and steak dinner on Saturday December 5th. On December 19th, we will be having a Holiday dinner come on out and have some awesome food. On December 31st we will be doing casino night. This year we are supporting our community by having a toys 4 tots

barrel at the Aerie stop by to show our support to fill the barrel we need all toys by December 15th. Just a reminder if you have not finished your shopping for Christmas we have Aerie shirts that would make a good present. The Aerie will be closed on December 24th and 25th for the holiday. I hope you can come down and support our charity events as our motto is People Helping People. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

Fraternal yours Lori Payne, Worthy President

A Message From Our Madam President Hello Sisters, It is hard to believe this year is almost over. I just have to say thank you to all the Sisters who take time to come out in this cold weather (also the parking is not the best) to attend meetings, give us your ideas and suggestions to help make us better. Welcome to our re-enrollee sister Janet Haugen. We are so happy you came back. The holidays are a busy time for all of us. Between work, shopping, gift wrapping, cooking, running errands and everything else we have to do it is hard to make time for those who are less fortunate than we are. Isn’t it wonderful to be an Eagle? We do make the time to care for others, donate food for the needy, toys for children and help wherever and whenever we can. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year. Let’s remember those who are not with us and more importantly all they did for us. Until next time Sisters and Brothers just remember you are loved and appreciated so much. Fraternally and always with love, Carla, Madam President VOLUME 5 ISSUE #11 ALAMEDA EAGLES Page 2

What to put in the Barrel:

 PROTEIN: this is the most expensive item for the food bank to buy, and it is essential to good health, especially for children’s growing minds: tuna, canned chicken, canned SPAM, canned ham.

 FOOD THAT YOUNG AND OLD ENJOY: imagine you have no teeth, you can still enjoy oatmeal, cream of rice, cream of wheat cereals

 FOOD THAT MAKES A SIMPLE MEAL: crackers and soup, pasta and pasta sauce, stews, chili, noodles.

 FOOD THAT IS ENJOYED BY MANY CULTURES: rice, beans, lentils, dried peas, pasta

Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) has been in business since 1985 ... with a vision toward a day when they can go out of business. ACCFB is a hub of a vast collection and distribution network that provides food for 240 nonprofit agencies in Alameda County.

In 2014, the Food Bank distributed 25 million meals -- more than half of the food was fresh fruits and vegetables.

Since moving into the a permanent facility near the Oakland Airport in 2005, the ACCFB has lead the National food bank movement for a ban on the distribution of carbonated beverages, the Food Bank has ramped up distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables by more than 1,000%.

Through a network of 240 strategically placed member agencies - food pantries, soup kitchens, child-care centers, senior centers, after-school programs and other community-based organizations around Alameda county -– the Food Bank distributes enough food for 380,000 meals weekly.

NO FRESH FOOD IN BARREL - PLEASE
