Breeds Prize List WELCOME Thank You to all our Exhibitors! The 2021 Germantown Charity Horse Show is very grateful for the presence and support of our exhibitors. Without you, this 72nd anniversary of our Horse Show would not have been possible. We are extremely dedicated to you! The Germantown Charity Horse Show is known for its hospitality and charity. We take great pride in making sure that your time with us is comfortable and enjoyable. Be sure to stay on the lookout and take advantage of our Welcome Wagon which comes around twice a day serving water, lemonade & sweet tea to keep you refreshed & hydrated. Also, join us every afternoon for wine and cheese. And don’t forget the Exhibitor’s Party! Proceeds from the show and sale of programs go to our benefiting charity, Kindred Place, a counseling and education center for adults and children. Through classes, individual sessions, and group therapy, help families navigate the challenges of parenting and partnerships to build stronger connections, improve communication, and resolve conflicts peacefully. Entries will be accepted online and in the show office until 5pm each day for classes that evening and until 9pm for classes the following morning. There’s an early-bird discount of $10 per entry if made by 1pm. ● We typically sell out of stalls and RV spaces, so make your reservations ASAP. The early-bird deadline for stall reservations is May 14, 2021. Reserve your stalls and RV spaces by emailing [email protected] ● The deadline to enter all evening performances is 5pm each day, however, if you make your entries before 1pm you can save $10 per entry. Entries for morning performances must be made by 9pm the night before with an early-bird discount if made by 5pm. ● Please make your entries using the official GCHS entry forms, which can be downloaded from www.GCHS.org. Be sure to indicate who receives any prize money for each horse and provide their Social Security or Tax ID number. ● All accounts must be closed out in the show office by the end of the show on Saturday night. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) lead line; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. While there is no scientifically accepted definition of the term "breed,"[1] a breed is defined generally as having distinct true-breeding characteristics over a number of generations; its members may be called "purebred". In most cases, bloodlines of horse breeds are recorded with a breed registry. However, in horses, the concept is somewhat flexible, as open stud books are created for developing horse breeds that are not yet fully true-breeding. Registries also are considered the authority as to whether a given breed is listed as Light or saddle horse breeds a "horse" or a "pony".     PREVENT ALL SORING TACTICS ACT OF 2013 (H.R. 1518) Frequently Asked Questions What is the Horse Protection Act and why was it enacted? The Horse Protection Act (HPA or Act) is a federal law that was passed in 1970 to stop the cruel practice of “soring” horses that was occurring in sectors of the horse show industry, primarily the Tennessee Walking Horse and Racking Horse industry. In the 1950s, some horse owners and trainers who wanted to improve their horses’ chances of winning began to sore their horses as a shortcut in place of longer and more conventional training methods. As this practice spread, public concern over the practice led to the passage of the federal law. What activities does it prohibit? The federal law prohibits the showing, sale, auction, exhibition, or transport of horses that have been “sored.” The HPA was passed in 1970 in response to the growing practice of soring of horses to cultivate an accentuated gait on some horses for showing or sale. The Act and its enforcement have traditionally been aimed at those sectors of the walking horse show industry that push for a particularly accentuated gait, known as the “big lick” or “performance” gait, while showing. What is soring? According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA or the Department) the agency that enforces the HPA: “Soring is a cruel and inhumane practice used to accentuate a horse’s gait.
