12 | RAILPORT SCANDINAVIA RAILPORT SCANDINAVIA | 13 THE NEW GOTHENBURG INTERMODAL TERMINAL An intermodal terminal is built in the port area. The terminal became operational in December 2017.

The new intermodal terminal is located next to the port’s ro-ro and container terminals. From the terminals, trailers and containers are transported to and from a variety of destinations all over Europe and the world. The terminal has the capacity of serving six trains simultaneously. Both trailers and containers can be handled at the intermodal terminal although the focus is on trailers. The operator is Sandahlsbolagen Sweden AB.

14 | RAILPORT SCANDINAVIA RAILPORT SCANDINAVIA | 15 NEW CROSSDOCKING TERMINAL A new, rail connected crossdocking terminal is being built beetween the container- and roro terminals. The new terminal, ”Sveaterminalen” will become operational during the first half of 2020.

The new crossdocking terminal will consist of a 45,000 sq.m. terminal area, including a 360 metres long, 21,600 sq.m. area production tent, ensuring weather protected crossdocking operations. The production tent will be fully rail connected. The terminal will also include a yard consisting of four tracks for short-time parking that will be coordinated by the Gothenburg Port Authority. These tracks will serve the port’s total railway system.
