To the Chairman, members, and head of the Drikung Kagyu centers across the world, The Vinaya Vastu Sutra says, "Bhagawan Buddha pledged to have summer retreat in the Jetavana Grove of Anathapindaka of Shravasti." Thus, among the Lord Buddha' s several abodes, he mainly retreated at Jetavana Grove for twenty long summers. At eastern Mrigdharni' s Grove located near by Jetavana Grove, he retreated for five summers; in total he spent twenty-five long years in summer retreat there. The two supreme disciples of the Buddha, sariputra and Maudgalyoyanaputra, The Five Ascetics, the Sixteen Sthaviras and Mahaka§yapa, those known as eighty closest disciples also spent many years along with the Buddha there. Many arhats passed into parinirvana there as the ruined stupas of their relics stored are still to be seen at the date. At this holy site, for last few years, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Rinpoche,has been working hard on related measurements for organizing a Buddhist cultural gathering and finally the same has been scheduled in November 2015. The event is witnessing mainly by people from Himalaya region this occasion. The main purpose of this mission is to bring primary prosperity of peace, happiness & brotherhood symphony among the human community joining inter-religious faiths on one platform. During the event, every morning session is scheduled for dharma teaching, sutra reading, and prayer recitation. While in the evening, various traditional culture programs will be presented. The formal "Great Shravasti Buddhist Cultural Assembly 2015" is being held from November 3rd to 7th for five days. Accommodation & meal will be arranged for the audiences.
