June 9Th – August 21St 2015 24th June 9th – August 21st 2015 Welcome to Summartónar is organized by Felagið Føroysk Tónaskøld SUMMARTÓNAR 2015 (Association of Faroese Composers) in collaboration with WELCOME Norlurlandahúsið í Føroyum (The Nordic House) This year we celebrate the 24rd Summartónar festival Felagið Føroysk Tónaskøld (Association of Faroese Composers) organizes the annual Summartónar festival all over the Faroe Photography by Ditte Mathilda Joensen Islands. With its focus on composition, the Summartónar festival is a ALDUBÁRAN (FO), ALDA MAGNA (FO), ANDERS HJULER (DK), continuous, vital dynamo in the development of Faroese music. The 2014 festival programme reflects its role as a platform for new ANDREAS TYKJÆR RESTORFF (FO), ANNA KatRIN EGILSTRØÐ (FO), works by Faroese composers, many of them first performances. In the ARNOLD LUDVIG (FO), ARNOLD LUDVIG SEXTET (FO/DK/FR/TOGO), past few years, Summartónar has also presented improvised music, BENJAMIN (FO), BENGT FORSBERG (SE), BIEDERMEIER DUO (FO), as well as contemporary folk music. He studied piano at the Tartu Music High School and graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory as a composition student of Mart Saar and Heino Eller.
