Work continuing at Drive, from Thursday 21 April

Equine bridge safety screen project update

Roads and Maritime Services is installing safety screens on the equine bridge across James Ruse Drive, near Oak Street. This work was scheduled to be completed in January but has been delayed due to minor changes to the design.

Work completed so far includes removing existing steel railings and building new railings and safety screens offsite. The next stage will involve installing the new railings and screens.

This work will continue to be carried out until the end of May 2016, weather permitting. Our working hours will be from 7am to 6pm between Mondays to Fridays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

In addition to day work, there will also be 12 night shifts until late May. Our night work hours will be from 7pm to 5am.

James Ruse Drive and Hassall Street Pinch Point Program update

This project was scheduled to be completed in January however due to delays, the work is expected to be finished in June 2016, weather permitting. Night work will continue from 8pm to 5am, excluding Saturdays. Minor activities that will not impact traffic will be carried out from 7am to 6pm between Mondays and Fridays.

Work completed so far includes extending the right turn bay from James Ruse Drive into Grand Avenue. We will continue to carry out work that includes:

• Widening the road north of Hassall Street • Installing new traffic light posts • Relocating utilities.

The next stage of work will include:

• Building a dedicated left turn lane from James Ruse Drive into Hassall Street • Resurfacing the • Installing a new pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights • Landscaping.

How will this work affect you?

We will make every effort to minimise noise by arranging the noisiest work to finish by 11pm. We have included a map to help explain these two projects.

Traffic changes

There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs.
