April 2016 Work continuing at James Ruse Drive, Parramatta from Thursday 21 April Equine bridge safety screen project update Roads and Maritime Services is installing safety screens on the equine bridge across James Ruse Drive, near Oak Street. This work was scheduled to be completed in January but has been delayed due to minor changes to the design. Work completed so far includes removing existing steel railings and building new railings and safety screens offsite. The next stage will involve installing the new railings and screens. This work will continue to be carried out until the end of May 2016, weather permitting. Our working hours will be from 7am to 6pm between Mondays to Fridays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. In addition to day work, there will also be 12 night shifts until late May. Our night work hours will be from 7pm to 5am. James Ruse Drive and Hassall Street Pinch Point Program update This project was scheduled to be completed in January however due to delays, the work is expected to be finished in June 2016, weather permitting. Night work will continue from 8pm to 5am, excluding Saturdays. Minor activities that will not impact traffic will be carried out from 7am to 6pm between Mondays and Fridays. Work completed so far includes extending the right turn bay from James Ruse Drive into Grand Avenue. We will continue to carry out work that includes: • Widening the road north of Hassall Street • Installing new traffic light posts • Relocating utilities. The next stage of work will include: • Building a dedicated left turn lane from James Ruse Drive into Hassall Street • Resurfacing the intersection • Installing a new pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights • Landscaping. How will this work affect you? We will make every effort to minimise noise by arranging the noisiest work to finish by 11pm. We have included a map to help explain these two projects. Traffic changes There will be some temporary traffic changes to ensure the work zone is safe. Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. The new clearways will replace the existing ‘No Stopping’ and ‘No Parking’ restrictions on Church Street, between James Ruse Drive and Victoria Road, and the existing bus lanes on Church Street will continue to operate with no changes. What is a clearway? A clearway is a section of road where stopping and parking is not allowed during the times shown on the clearway sign. Clearways are put on key arterial roads where traffic is often heavy and congested. They help keep vehicles moving by making all lanes available to motorists. The only exception is the stopping of buses and taxis dropping off or picking up passengers as well as emergency vehicles.

In the first, report which focussed on road traffic volumes, an error was made. The location points of road traffic counting stations were incorrect. Although this error does not affect the general conclusions, details of some of the analysis presented in this version are different to that presented in the original papers listed above. Some data additions have also been made, and so the accompanying commentary has been expanded. James Ruse Drive Improvements
To the householder & business operator JUNE 2013 Dear resident/business operator, RE: James Ruse Drive, Rosehill to Clyde – Night work starting Tuesday 2 July 2013 Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is starting work to improve the flow of traffic on James Ruse Drive from Rosehill to Clyde. This project is part of the NSW Government’s $125 million Pinch Point Program which aims to reduce delays, manage congestion and maintain travel times on Sydney’s main roads during week day peak periods. More information on the James Ruse Drive project can be found at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roadprojects search ‘James Ruse Drive’. The first stage of work will start on Tuesday 2 July, 2013 and will take about three months to complete, weather permitting. Work involves: • extending the right turn lane from James Ruse Drive southbound to Parramatta Road • extending the right turn lane from James Ruse Drive southbound to Prospect Street. Future stages of work will include an upgrade to the James Ruse Drive/Hassall Street/Grand Avenue intersection and restricting right turns into and out of Hope Street. To minimise traffic disruptions, most of this work will be done at night, Sunday to Friday, from 8pm to 5am. The site compound for this project is located at the Arthur Street Granville M4 viaduct underpass. There will be noise associated with this work, however every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise on nearby businesses and residents. Please allow extra journey time as delays may occur while work is carried out. The section of road adjacent to the work area will be partially closed during night working hours to ensure road worker and road user safety.

Pop-up transport Fact sheet for James Ruse Drive to Elizabeth Street footbridge, Parramatta pop-up cycleway Pop-up transport overview The NSW Government recognises that more people than ever are walking or bike riding to work, or for leisure and fitness. The NSW Government continues to encourage people to walk and bike ride as part of their everyday commute. We recognise that not only does it help relieve pressure on our roads and public transport system, but walking and bike riding are healthy, active ways of travelling. By continuing to invest in the construction of new cycleways and infrastructure, we help keep people safe while encouraging more individuals to take up these modes of travel. The NSW Government is delivering pop-up transport changes in response to COVID-19. We are working to ensure safe routes for walking, bike riding and exercise, as well as access to workplaces, schools and other services. As a key public health measure, each of the pop-up cycleways has been identified as a strategic priority, which is necessary to facilitate safe bike riding to support travel during the COVID-19 recovery, along routes where there are missing cycleway links, where there is demand for bike riding infrastructure, where there is a recognised route to key employment areas or where there is a recognised hot spot of congestion requiring more transport choices. The pop-up cycleways are being delivered in response to physical distancing requirements and the need to free up capacity on public transport and roads for people who cannot currently ride, due to concerns around safety and missing bike riding links.

Sodium Cyanide
Cowal Gold Project – Addendum to the Transport of Hazardous Materials Study The approved road transport of sodium cyanide (within NSW) for the Cowal Gold Project begins at the Chullora Railfast Centre (Sydney), where it is then transferred by road to the Camellia Freight Terminal (Sydney) and transported by rail to Dubbo. From Dubbo, it then resumes transport by road to the Project. Barrick (Cowal) Limited (Barrick) has identified an alternative transport route that involves road transport of sodium cyanide to the Maritime Container Services (Sydney), where it will then be transferred by rail to Dubbo. An Addendum to the Transport of Hazardous Materials Study has been prepared to reflect the proposed route for the transport of sodium cyanide from the Chullora Railfast Centre to Maritime Container Services (Sydney).
