He again sends some spies to the place of Rama and Lakshmana. Those spies were got caught by Vibhishana and the monkeys start harassing them. But the compassionate Rama gets them released and the spies reach back Lanka. garcin de tassy Origin and Diffusion of Hindustani [translator’s note: Presented here is the translation of a memorandum entitled ìOrigine et Diffusion de líHindoustani Appelé Language Générale ou Nationale de líIndeî (Origin and Diffusion of Hindustani, Called the Common or National Language of India) by Garcin de Tassy (1871) published in the transactions of the Royal Academy of Science, Arts, and Belles-Lettres of Caen, France. Written in the last decade of his life, this brief memorandum contains some of his observations and conclusions based on over half a century of involvement with Indian languagesóespecially Urdu, which was gener- ally called Hindustani during his time. Most of his peer academy members, to whom this communication was directed, probably did not know much about Urdu. Consequently, he includes some explanations and background information that would seem too elementary nowadays. Nevertheless, some of his remarks still seem fresh and surprising. Even his digressionary remarks, which are dispersed throughout the note and which often seem factitious, contain much information about the historical and cultural factors influencing the development of Urdu. The note also reveals de Tassyís passionate at- tachment to Urdu and his angst over the Urdu-Hindi controversy which, he thought, was going to lead to disastrous religious and political strife in India.] We can only make conjectures about the exact dates of Indiaís invasion by the Aryans and the diffusion of their language; the language was called Sanskrit (well-formed), in contrast to the language of the natives and its various dialects that were together given the name Prakrit (ill-formed) by the scornful victors. -

THE VISHNU PURANA the Vishnu Purana Has Twenty-Three Thousand
THE VISHNU PURANA The Vishnu Purana has twenty-three thousand shlokas. Skanda Purana has eighty-one thousand shloka and Markandeya Purana only nine thousand. The Vishnu Purana also has six major sections or amshas, although the last of these is really short. Maitreya and Parashara Once the sage Maitreya came to the sage Parashara and wanted to know about the creation of the universe. And this is what Parashara told him. In the beginning the universe was full of water. But in that water there emerged a huge egg (anda) that was round like a water-bubble. The egg became bigger and bigger and inside the egg there was Vishnu. This egg was called Brahmanda. And inside Brahmanda there were the mountains and the land, the oceans and the seas, the gods, demons and humans and the stars. On all sides, the egg was surrounded by water, fire, wind, the sky and the elements. Inside the egg, Vishnu adopted the form of Brahma and proceeded to create the universe. When the universe is to be destroyed, it is Vishnu again who adopts the form of Shiva and performs the act of destruction. Let us therefore salute the great god Vishnu. There are four yugas or eras. These are called krita (or satya), treta, dvapara and kali. Krita era consists of four thousand years, treta of three thousand, dvapara of two thousand and kali of one thousand. All the four eras thus pass in ten thousand. And when all the four eras have passed one thousand times each, that is merely one day for Brahma. -

These forms of antiquity incorporate the milieus from which short story developed.It is still a developing branch of literary study.A critical enquiry is made in this paper to trace out the development of short story as a special genre of literature.
