Are you looking for a faith-based beginning for your child’s education? If so, our parish grouping will be accepting registrations for Pre-school (age 4 by September) and kindergarten through 8th grade for the 2019- 2020 school year beginning mid-August. We have an exceptional program led by certified catechists and parishioners. Our program fulfills the Diocese of Pittsburgh’s requirements for religious education if your child attends a public, private, charter or home school. Religious Education is a wonderful way for parents to partner with the Church to teach your child about God and our Catholic faith and to receive the sacraments at the age-appropriate time. Please contact Cheryl Kirkland at [email protected] for more information.

A message from Jo Ann McLaughlin-Klemencic, Director of Evangelization For those of you who may not know me, I have served mainly at St. Maurice for the past four years in the areas of youth ministry, social ministry, and evangelization. On Wednesday, July 24, I handed in my resignation to Fr. Frank Almade. My last day in the office will be August 6. This decision was a personal one for me. As you may know, the Lord has blessed my husband and me with two lovable little miracles, our daughters Rosalyn and Melinda. I have played many roles in my life, and my role as a mother has been my most joyful, challenging, and important one. All roles we play in each of our lives are graced yet limited by the most precious of nonrenewable resources: time. My daughters are young, and time is the gift I can give to them and to myself to be with one another at these important beginnings. I am incredibly grateful for the time and journeys I have been on with many of you. Thank you all for the immense kindness, love, and care you have shown our family, including in the sorrow of losing my mother and the joys of the births of our girls. I am ever amazed by the fidelity each of you show to our Lord and your generosity of spirit in all things. It has been a sincere pleasure and gift to serve you and be served by you. I particularly want to thank the parish staffs for all they have taught me the past four years, as well as for their help and support in my ministry work. I also wish to shine a spotlight of gratitude on the youth, parents, and volunteers in our parishes who have supported youth ministry with their time, talent, and treasure. May that involvement never waver and may you youth continue to follow the incredible paths God has in mind for each of you. Lastly, please know that our family will continue to be a part of this worshipping community. We look forward to gathering around the Eucharistic table with you. A youth get-together with Jo Ann is being organized but the date has not yet been determined. Details will be published in the bulletin as soon as they are available.
