“Spiritual Streams in Romania” (A central part of the later written text to the lecture from Friday 24th February 2017 in Bucaresti, Romania)

This weekend we want to look on the cosmic laws and forces into the social processes. In our lecture now we want to connect it with the actuality of the Romanian spirit. Anthroposophical seen, out of the zodiacal and planetarian we find the background for any science. We can say the mental or astral soul-reality of existence is the planetarian reality and the pure spiritual reality of existence is the zodiac- and fixed star reality. The stars which we see are only the little physical part of it! Our soul- and spiritual realities are the cosmic realities! So we can understand why we come to the core of individual- and social life with such theme.

A main esoteric order in all individual and social impulses on earth can be seen in spiritual streams, that live in this inner realities, in this cosmic world. This spiritual streams are on earth connected with high developed initiated man, which have gone through so much development and sacrifice that they ripened to become so-called Masters or Bodhisattvas. And here we should not forget that as part of the evolution we have also evil antistreams, as challenging forces that help us at last to overcome them and have as result a higher ripeness, which Steiner described the first time in history in a very exact and differentiated form. About them we partly worked in our training-course at the fifth meeting when the issue was conflict- management and dealing with obstacles and the evil. In 2017 we have to face this forces in international politics more direct again!

Someone now may think: What relevance do have Bodhisattvas with today’s social reality? But if we see that the core of the social impulses are the inner cores of man and of social organizations, then we can find quick to the background of spiritual streams. We have both, good and evil spiritual streams, which as the true inner fountain and force in the inner intentions behind the social strivings among people and groups are working, the good ones need a higher ideal and striving of man, the evil ones are gratis! We should see that like a pictorial truth- every fountains and man and organizations which work out of them, more or less conscious - all around the world and here in Romania.

Because of the special international recognition of Romanians young protests and protesters, that seemed to be an exception in the worldwide growing news about nationalistic symptoms, we can combine our weekend-theme with the big social organism, -psychism and – pneumatism of Romania. Steiner said little symptoms in history are more important for to see the true history then the catchy big powerplays. Is maybe the mood in the young romanian generation more important than that of Donald Trump?

Looking back on our fine Folkspirit-of -Romania-Work from October 2012 to April 2013, we can remind, how we could grasp the very specific empathic character of the Romanian spirit. The following Spiritual-Organizational-Development-Work since autumn 2013 until now was also

1 understood as a tool to work more out of the true Romanian Spirit – always meant non- nationalistic, the country seen as an individualized empathic voice in the international choir!

Something from the true Romanian spirit appeared to the world in February 2017

In this looking onto the scripture of this time, it seems Romania is calling one more time to be seen! So let’s try to deepen somehow here insights.

A short look on the situation today in the beginning of 2017 with Trump-Primitivity in the West, growing nationalism in the Middle European countries, hardened mood in the Russian east, corruption-mood in Romania and young people with fantasy full and empathic Europe- open demonstrations here in Bucaresti and all over Romania.

The Board picture (see next picture) shows at the left side main words to the typical etheric, astral and spiritual impressions we can have from Romania. On the right side we see main tasks of the needed social healing that’s needed in Romania and – sure – worldwide. In the middle we see a try to bring into picture something from the main imprinting spiritual streams of Romania - as I can grasp it, out of our work and out of many concrete observations over the last 10 years. In the center we see the try to characterize the Skythianos-Path of seeing and working with that what goes from eternity to eternity. It will be described more now. The circle in green shall characterizes the Master Jesus stream with it’s strong togetherness of brotherhood and individual striving. Then we see the foggy grasping clouds and manipulative- and pulling-down dragons from down-under, a no-good cloud that, as we see, cannot overwhelm the brotherhood and the consequent walking through the middle. On the right we have the symbols for the Buddha-Stream and the Rosicrucian-Stream.

Not to forget: Above we see the rays of that what comes from zodiac-area as a spiritual inbreathing, what we have to do, when we work in an inspirational way in a social pneumatism. Pneumatism as an in-breathing of inspirations, ideas and higher motivation. As an example: We talked about this daily in-breathing in a greeting-practise every morning and evening – this is already and inspirational act. And then we practiced again and again this inspirational in-breathing through wards a calm meditative communication – with stepds like this; 1. a good prepared question, 2. time to contemplate on it, 3. deep listening to the outspoken content of everyone that speaks then – and 4. the inner completing time of recalling what has been said really. And in the left on the board we see the names of the archangels of the planets, which is in a reality experience able first as a deep world of soul force coming from the whole planet area, not only from the little physical planet. This basic soul force, mostly of every planet, is living in the social psychism, in the soul- and process-interactions – which can happen in the high form of a social warmth sculpturing - as Joseph Beuys named it.

So we see here in the upper part how the spiritual streams are going through the social realitys, how they work in a social organism in its pneumatism and psychism. Also we see below how it’s attacked all the time from Dragonclouds, that – at last – can help to resist and go on more upright, more clear, more connected in brotherhood too.

On the left side then – from the board it’s right - we see the main sentences for the spiritual-, astral- and etheric character of the Folkspirit of Romania – as we found it on that three weekends. Spiritual: Christlove with an embracing gesture, Astral: mild empathic and mystical sensitivity, Etheric: horizontal wide and eternal airiness. See here:

Seeing this strong easy carrying and playful etheric specialty of Romania is impressing me again and again when I step out of the airplane coming from Germany, where all seems much more compact than in Romania. And then driving through Romania we can recognize so much sweet soul mood playing over the land. Experiencing this reality can be painful at last: Over the huge fertilizer-fields of industrial agriculture you can already see the emptiness, the soul is gone – this you find sadly so much in Germany too. Now astral emptiness it’s enlarging over Romania too. See the reality: They steal your Soul, they will make your country empty – the 3 many fine soul-atmosphere will fade, beginning over this big fields. The diversity of butterflys, but concrete the sweet diversity of Elemental beings, also many christic Elemental beings are dying forever. We see it like with bound hands. Do we ask: Who is binding our hands? And why? If we could see more the truth of the soul of our countries we would react quicker. Seeing it is like as if we see the most wonderful soul of a child – and see how they cut out it’s soul in front of our eyes – so you have to do something! I don’t talk here of overdoing the care for a country or primitive nationalism - that’s no answer, never - I speak about starting social healing, a healing that starts with honoring and leads to organizational and ecological development. It’s is possible, because we have medicaments, we have methods worldwide, that work. Methods worked out by Steiner, by Otto Scharmer, by Frederic Laloux, methods of Spiritual Organizational Development.

So on the right side on the board from us we see the main – here a bit programmatic – sentences of what we worked on, as a base for a Social Healing in our Spiritual Organizational Development courses in four tasks: 1. Working out of healing spiritual fountains, 2. working out of spiritual communication, 3. working out of healing times and process-methods, 4. working out of healing physical spaces in our buildings and rooms and in nature, out of inspiring nature-spaces too.

If we want to come to healing social processes we need more concrete: 1. a work out of healing spiritual fountains - in the higher selves of the individuals, - in the group-spirit, - in the Genius Loci. We have to find with this 2. to a healing communication with deep listening, silence, imaginative-, inspirative- and intuitive awareness – and we need 3. to embed this in enough healing times with methodical processes, planned early for the days, the weeks, the month and the years in our organisations. The third is to see the strong influence from the physical around us: if it’s cold and empty the most of us tend to be unmotivated, is it with inspiring material, forms and colors, we are motivated and satisfied. All this social healing seems easy, but it’s a long way of changing habits with spiritual methods. We are here in the course for to deepen the knowledge about methods and the ability’s to work out of it, especially in Romania

The Romanian young movement – from how it has been perceived – is a role-model in this moment in the world, a spark in early spring 2017. The Press reacted worldwide on this. I know 4 that there are aspects of hidden background-strategies of Securitate-directions beside the government in Romania and aspects of a merciful hearts for imprisoned Romanian politicians that can bring you in a perspective that can make you think, that such demonstration- enthusiasm is some kind of naive. The point for me here is, that the spirit which had been brought over into the world from young Romanians nowadays is very much like the spirit, we found in deep searching for the folk spirit of Romania. And think: it’s the first time ever that Romania appeared in the global world not with a grey mood of Ceausescu, poorness etc.. The first time appeared a picture of Romania to mankind which showed something from the true Romanian spirit.

The spiritual dimensions and spiritual temptations of Romania

Let’s look one more time onto this with a sideview on the Romanian spirit we found 4 years ago and on the spiritual background of it. As I described, always when you come from Germany via flight to a Romanian city, you can have the same effect – if you are aware of it: The air is especially easy (a bit lifted in comparison to compact Germany or clear bigformed Scotland as example), it has playful light ether, in summer forceful warmth ether, it has also a flowing chemical ether here and there in it, in general it gives a horizontal impression. And then you find the – in comparison to Germany - very intense and diverse soulforce over the land, specially feel able towards the evening. It can be described as different forms of friendliness, partly with of a bit melancholic-, a bit passionate-, a bit child joy-alike forms, often with a strong christic pureness, mostly with this unbelievable empathy-ability in it. You can have the impression, that the light and the air are joyful interested towards the surrounding – and that they take-in good moods from the higher spiritual surrounding. It’s like a permanent preparing of a brotherly, often more sisterly, substance. And in its background there is on one side something like a wise huge intentional mood of the dignity-, the ability of waiting, of sacrificing, of overviewing endless times, and on the other side there is a christic form of endless love, nearly a joy, which seems full of endless enthusiasm for the coming revelation of the true self of Romania.

Sure, there is also a double of the Romanian soul, a foggy grey layer, heavy loads of unfinished unordered things, extremes of dark cramping as example in the form of violence. Well, we can learn from the doubles and then connect better our with true spiritual fountains and work out of them!

But it needs to know your weaknesses. Rethink: Once Steiner spoke to Russians about their spiritual Christ nearness, the special ability to bring soul into the spirit – what often is missing in the west. - But he also spoke about the typical dangers for eastern souls. I think it is also a danger in Romania, even if Romanians are more near to the Middle-European spirit than the Russians. Steiner said:

„Through your predestination you are prepared to aspirate soul into the spirit. … Your danger will build that the soul mightiness of your personalities can spread clouds around you, astral clouds, through which you cannot come through towards the objective spiritual. Your fire, your warmth, they can spread around you like a cloudy aura and not let through the spiritual; because you

5 guess you are enthusiastic for the spirit, but because of the enthusiasm the spirit is blocked to find the ways to you … .” (GA 158, 11.04.1912)

At another occasion he described how the East-European soul will feel in the first steps towards the consciousness-soul some kind of “a dullness, a devitalization, an inner tiredness” (GA 181, 09.07.1918).

So here we have to have a special awareness! The “astralisation-clouds” are the danger! Bringing the soul into the spirit with clearness, is a task! And new-awakening again and again is part of it! Two cultural dangers are connected with this, and you see them clearly today: The Americanization and the luciferic try to return to old spiritual and religious forms. Steiner describes in the same lecture: “The second temptation will be that from the east … . … it will be the obligation to know that even with all greatness of this spiritual culture of the east, the man of the present time has to say to himself: We have not to carry the past into the present time, but the new impulses.” (GA 158, 11.04.1912) To hold on to the orthodox religion, so Steiner, is a “staying in the claws of Lucifer” (GA 159/160, 15.05.1915). I understand, the religion or the ritual is not meant here, we can learn from it, but it’s meant what is happening when you turn your soul direction onto that fanatic holding on to old impulses in a time where new impulses are needed! Than you are in the claws of Lucifer, because you are into a stream that goes wrong, and if not balanced goes into evil, and if not balanced then it can become destructive. So don’t be bowed under an idea, see the ideas actual! See how they are needed to be structured in the special situations and fields of the social life. Don’t react on americanisation with luciferic wishes of returning to states of the 4th culture-epoc!

AS we say to the new rising of nationalism and old thinking in America and elsewhere: “Be aware in which claws you are!”, we should look on our own region, of this staying turned backwards here: “Be aware, in which claws you are, dear east, too! What seems a cozy religious- or Eurasian vision is the biggest danger you can have today! Wake up and turnaround from following the phillisters of our time, awake from the warm astralclouds to work clear on new impulses – inclusive learning things from the old ones!”

If we look now, like we did, to the phenomena of the appearance-forms of Romania, based on Goetheanism, which is a longliving new impulse, we find tremendous fresh streams beyond fixed forms and dogmas, especially graspable in the spirit of the landscapes. If we look behind the old forms, if we look behind all the soul-clouds, we can find the true actual Christ- and Michael-connected individual spirit of Romania: streams, fountains, which are waiting still for awakened clear souls of modern people in East-Europe!

After overcoming the folk-double we can wake up for Christs actual presence all around us, and we find after a while which kinds of eternal spiritual streams from the masters that sit around Christ have streamed and stream actual through the Romanian soul - in nature, culture and inside our own eternal individualities too. With the background of anthroposophical studying and spiritual soul-observation we can

6 compare such streams and find the character of the streams that are the most present. This is not a to high striving, Steiner awaited even from young anthroposophist’s that they know to which stream they belong!

The Master Jesus Stream in Romania

We can find in the core of this described open empathic community-building stream of Romanias soul, the Master Jesus Stream. Steiner told about the character of Master Jesus, told that he is c0nnected to „the more intim in the human soul“ (GA 264, Esoteric Hour Berlin, 26. Juni 1906) and with „the principles of brotherly love which grow into the future“ (GA 264, Esoteric hour, Köln, 12. February 1906). And: “He (Master Jesus – D. K.) is the inspiratory of them, which want to understand that self-developing christianity; he had inspired into the esoteric schools them which had to care continuous the teachings of Christianity. He is standing behind the great figures of the Christianity, always teaching what truly the grand event of Palestine is meaning.” (GA 114, The Gospel according to Luke, Dornach 2001, S. 137) Who is connected with the Master Jesus-Stream finds more easy to feel deep and to experience deep love to Christ and to the inner I of others. From Steiner’s research we know that Master Jesus has been incarnated in the pre-Christian times as the great initiated Zarathustra, became later the nathanic little Jesus and appeared as example in the middle-age as the so-called “Godfriend from the Oberland” and stayed in Steiners time in the Carpathians.

One side of this stream of “the more intim in the human soul” and “the growing of brotherly love” is findable in Romania easily in the perceivable unique soul-abilities, that can bring soul and empathy in clearness into the spirit. One side of this stream is findable in the “germs” that Steiner saw in the Orthodoxy “for the future”. Here one connection to the Master Jesus stream is findable in the true dedication to Christ that leads through tears, which is described – in connection to the everlasting heartprayer - as the 6th step of 9 steps of prayers which orthodox monchs should learn authentically. You can find it still described even on a youtube-film, where Father Cleopa from

7 the Shiastria-Monastery is describing it - not so long before his death. We can think how this permanent everlasting heartprayer flowed and flows through the Carpathians with it’s many monastrys!

The letters from Master Jesus in the 14th century – when he was incarnated as the “Godfriend from the Oberland” - are full of this tears of being touched by Christ. He wrote how all members of his Brotherhood had to go through crisis’s and how they broke down in tears some when, when they saw the grace of God and Christ. This shared individual expertness and experiencing the spirit together leads to that strong brotherhood-love: „All our brothers have in themselves - out of being in love with god - only one love, and their hearts are together in this lovely devotion and flown into eachother, right as if they were one heart and owned with eachother one single heart“ (The Godfriend from the Highland, Wilhelm Rath, Chapter the brotherhood in the Highland).

Later, in 1379 and -80, the Godfriend united first with 7 brothers and then with other masters from Europe – him and 12 with him - around a natural fountain in the high mountains and they fought back the evil, that wanted to come over Europe, so that the evil had to wait for three years. They have been able then to face direct the spiritual world, evil and holy spiritual beings. Here we see how the Master Jesus Stream has naturespirit-connectivity, united with the strong brotherhood-connectivity – and how it is able to work directly with the actual spiritual realities.

Now its meaningful for Romanians that Steiner told to Friedrich Rittelmeyer that Master Jesus was incarnated in Steiners time in the Carpatians! The other track of the Master Jesus Stream in Steiners time gives a perspective of aspects to the workstyle of this stream in our time: Steiner reacted to a group of young anthroposophist’s around Wilhelm Rath, who wrote the famous research-book about the “Godfriend from the Oberland” later, a group that was obviously strong connected with the Master Jesus Stream; and he builded with them the so called “Youth Circle”. A karmic group that meditates for each other three times a day and looks still today for individualities which belong to this stream. This is a social organism, that is mainly a selfless brotherhood, where many don’t even know each other personal, but vitalize, atralize and spiritualize a huge pure and social building that brings higher beings and forces into the earth-culture! Steiner told them that such groups can be an incomparable and tremendous help on earth in our time and in the future. In connection with this Steiner wrote a Memorandum for the young Anthroposophists, where he mentioned again and again a new form of “Livingcommunitys” that work without much outwardly forms, out of “familiarity”, in “experiencing the spirit together” with the aim of “selfperfection”. We can understand the Master Jesus Stream and the example of the “Youth-Circle” as a model for modern karmic group building!

However, who has a feeling for the character of this stream, can clearly grasp that this mellow empathic spirit in the Romanian air has the most familiarity with the spirit of the Master Jesus stream! All country’s have specific relations to archangels and specific streams of high spiritual figures. One impression of the Romanian spirit, even in the landscape-atmosphere, is a strong streaming and nearness of the Master Jesus Stream from the spiritual world. It’s not mainly connected with the Orthodox Church, it’s obviously mainly connected to all open souls that are ahead of their time.

I would say Places of this nearness in Romanian Landscapes are the Bucovina in a more heartful way, the Paltinis-Area - where Steiner once had been in the Holy Nights 1888/89

– in a more marianic climate, and the Retezat in a more clear minded way- influenced from the special spirit of Arsenie Boca, whom we can call a romanian saint of the 20th century that appeared as if he has a special connection to the archangel Michael and to Master Jesus.

He was a spiritual person that struggled in his life with the question, in which way he should work. Traditional he was a monk. He – already a famous monk - asked as example once the famous Romanian writer Lucian Blaga in this direction, who adviced him to go on as an orthodox monk, for the Romanians need him like this. He stayed also in contact with anthroposophist’s. The atmosphere of his nearly anthroposophical paintings in the Draganescu Chapel near here, southwest of Bucaresti, give a different atmosphere then the normal orthodox church-paintings, it’s not only the atmosphere of traditional orthodoxy but has also somekind of a penetrating Master-Jesus-Mildness with a michaelic clearness that allows an actual transparenz towards the spiritual world.

Observed impressions of connections to Master Jesus are findable near the tomb of Saint Paraskeva in Iasj, where we can experience a strong spiritual warmth-flow - a bit compareable with that which some western european people may know from St. Odilie from the Odile Mount near Strassbourgh, from which R. Steiner mentioned that a huge christian force streamed from there through the whole occident. Steiner mentioned that the Pope Nikolaus had to hold back the east-spirit because before a heart-christianity had to come the scholastic clearness into the west-church and the western consciousness of Europe. But from the 20th century on, specially throughwards the consciousness of Anthroposophy, it’s needed to integrate the eastern heartchristianity (see Book two Helmuth von Moltke, the Letters from Rudolf Steiner to Eliza von Moltke published from Thomas Meyer). Can we see in the Holy Paraskeva as a counterpart of the Holy Odilie in the east and bring them and the Easteuropean and Westeuropean spirit together today? How? I think this question is urgent today for to build a basic spiritual bridge again between East-, Middle- and West Europe again.

Another strong etheric impression of a connection to the Master Jesus Stream is findable if we bow our head - in the right authentic devotion - over the little tomb of the Holy Filoftei in the famous Monastrie Church of Curtea de Arges. What unique and unusual pure, wide and simple and always actual lifeforce is staying there!

The Skythianos Stream in Romania

But beside the Master Jesus Stream we find in that longtime-overviewing dignity another Bodhisattva-Stream strong in the spiritual world over Romania. It’s the stream of Skythianos, the Bodhisattva that – following Steiner – will rule the East-European-Epoch in the next 6th culture-epoch. Sergej Prokofieff gathered much quotes from Steiner to this theme in his book “The spiritual Fountains of East Europe and the future Mystery’s of the Grail” and he added his interpretations too. The still more hidden Skythianos-Stream – I worked on this theme with some dedicated friends in the beginning of February this year – is a stream of „… that Mysteries, which … connect man innernes directly with the nature-existance, with the spirit of nature-existance” (GA 232, Mysteriesdesign, 21. December 1923). It is a stream in which we learn to stay with I-am-force face to face with the spiritual world directly around us. It’s 10 connected with the old sectrets about the TAO, the spirit as the worlds-breath, the knowing to be one with the whole of the nature – inclusive the spiritual beings (see GA 54, 16.11.1905). And we stay then in a spiritual substance which we can characterize as an eternal wind in which we can stay upright and overview nature, destiny and the global world in an interconnected way. Its a way that is strongly connected with the spiritual eye for our direct nature-spirit-surrounding, seeing the spiritual beings in the nature and seeing the Christ around us, - always in connection to eternal times and the global space. Something that is experience able also strongly on that Saturnway that Steiner described in England and the end of his life (Lievegoed called it “Saturnway”), where we are with trust forces of karmic connection able to stay directly in an intuition-space with others! The Master Jesus Stream seems to have microcosmical brotherhood in its foreground, and the work out of it. The Skythianos-Stream seems to have in the foreground the individual mastership of facing the macrocosmic greatness and –powers – and the work out of it. In connection with Skythianos we often find motives of an eternal overviewing, a very hidden acting, an access to the huge spirit as a world breath and a strong musical inter-connectivity, a breathing connection in the interaction between spiritual- and earthly configurations – all in the real eternal time-stream.

The specific teaching of Skythianos, which his pupil receives consciously or unconsciously, is – as Steiner formulated - “that what goes from eternity to eternity”. The pupil, to whom he mostly is still somekind od hidden – so Steiner, learns to stay with strong I am and willforces in front of the archangels, feeling himself in an eternal stream, like in a spiritual wind, in the spirit as a worldsbreath (Steiners words for this tao-spirituality in GA 54, 16.11.1905). He can see and overview with high consciousness for that what he sees a whole situation. He knows what he sees, why he sees it and what has to happen. It’s a more intuitive state, because he can become what he sees, he is like a wind in it, a wind that experience everything. Concrete it’s also always working in a strong relation to nature, nature-spirit and to the physical body of man - this is typical for the activity in the Skythianos-Connection.

As said this way is connected with the so called Saturnway as Steiner describes in England 1924 for the Artus-Knights and as a new access to the spiritual world. The way to direct intuition, to such seeing like being one with carmical connected persons. We then see the big lines, the macrocosmic destinylines as a wholeness, we can see and overview the becoming of a situation and the solution of that situation – at last always in the whole carmical meaning of it too. This theme is more new to us - and we need to research on it!

Skythianos as the Boddhisattva of the West (so Steiner), inspired the early northern mysterys and there initiated, what is imprinting until now the connection between the west and the east in a special way. Then he inspired the early Scythian culture, later the Celtic and Hybernian mysterys. Following Rudolf Steiner and the Atlantis-researcher Andreas Delor, Skythianos was a hidden teacher of Mani in the 4th century after Christ. He inspired, already after Christ, in the Slavic Mysterys (see Steiner, in GA 158, 09.11.1914). Prokofieff pointed here on the typical shythianic “Breath-Connection” in the Slavic Legend of Swatogor who gives a part of his universal spirit through his breath to the well-known Russian hero Ilja Muromez – who carries the Russian folksoul. And following Andreas Delors research and understanding of Steiners Skythianos also was incarnated in the “Priestking John”, that was a follower of Parzival. A strong breath of Skythianos is findable in the old northern myths like the Edda and 11 specially the “Kalevala” of Finnland, that shows the typical Skythianos character of the huge wind of evolution, the world in singing and the spiritual connection to nature. And it seems Skythianos “parked” the old Atlantian clairvoyance, that he has to carry until they are christianisized, among the north American Indians in the last millennium. This seems evident if we study the global- and nature-near work stream of Daniel Dunlop in England, that Rudolf Steiner called his brother – and accepted him as a spiritual capacity of the west. Dunlop brought the impulse of Summerschools and global congresses for Spiritual Research into Anthroposophy. He could not work on after Steiners death, because he was not supported from Dornach then. In his Dunlop-Biography, Thomas Meyer is pointing on the connectuion between Skythianos and Daniel Dunlop. He wrote afterwards the only more detailed book to the Skythianos-Stream: “I am Force and Claivoyance – The Tao-Impulse in Past and Future” – in 1988! 12

The Summerschool-impulse for Simeria and Retezat in 2014 – which shall go on soon -, the Scotland Summerschools and the Norwegian Summerweeks, that we started in 2016, - and 12 Romanians have been in Scotland -, are trials to follow this direction, that Steiner called a “new stream in Anthroposophy”. If we have an impression of the Skythianos-Stream we can compare and feel in Romania this Skythianos-Stream-Spirit like a background atmosphere, as example in this typical open wind- typ of the elementarybeing-world that is often so special connected with an eternal timeless atmosphere. We can see it in the very old Calushari-dance with its special jumps into the horizontal air, a dance that was so spiritual, that the dancers had to life very ascethic in the preparation-weeks before the dancing-times. They dance it still, especially in Oltenia! We find this stream in the sheperd -typ figure of Romanians, in an eternal silent and longflowing windalike empathic connectivety with nature and the patience and empathy of staying through and look far over the momentary problems into the eternity, into the beginnings and the aims in the macrocosmic spiritual world. At the hermitage of Daniil Sihastrul (romanian for "Daniel the Hesychast"; he lived after 1400 — ca. until 1482) near to the ucrainian border in the Bucovina, and more even in the atmosphere over the plate of his grave in the Voronets Monastrychurch nearby, we can experience impressions of a wide inspirational spiritual space in which we can stay very concentrated, - a space where we feel like connected with that in the nature-surrounding, which always speaks actual through us out of the spiritual world. Alina Serbu pointed to special paintings in the Bucovinachurches, six-stars and circles with mysterious meanings; – maybe here is an access to understand the special spiritual inspirations of Daniil Sihastrul!?

The heritage of all this many Carpathian hermits through the centuries may have a lot of connections with Skythianos – but this is a future case to research on. However, the nature- and global connectivity of young Romanians has an imprint of that staying and overviewing of the shepherd-quality of the Skythianos-Stream in Romania. Steiner in general said to the spiritual type of East-Europeans: „this eastern soul is able to see beings into a nature-event “ (Steiner in GA 121, 16.06.1910). That nature-connection is still strong in Romania and we have to turn our attention to the deeper essence in it much more. The Skythianos-aspect is another layer of spiritual background-substance than the Master Jesus Stream substance of empathic-brotherhood abbilitys and the Christnearness of the soul. 13

It’s looking for Christ in in the macro cosmos, in the global world and in nature. Specially in the awake standing and facing Skythianos-Attitude the eastern soul can develop self- consciousness and enlarge it’s abbilitys into the direction of the consciousness-soul and the preparation of the East-European and Russian spirit-self culture-epoch.

The role of Buddha in Romania and at the Black Sea

Specially in the Blacksea Area of Romania, so in Dobruta, we can feel - beside the stronger skytic atmosphere there - a peaceful seddled aroma of “the contemplative Wind from the east”, and deeper felt from Buddha. Buddha – following Steiner – once initiated in the Blacksea- Mysterys the individuality that later became the holy Franziskus from Assissi. Steiner spoke from this Blacksea- Mysteries in the early middlegage in GA 155, „Christ and the human soul“, in the 2. Lecture to Theosophic Moral in Norrköping on 29. May 1912.

We always have to see Buddha in the context of Steiners research here, so Buddhas connection to Wotan the northern god, Buddha as a preparer for Christs coming, Buddha as the great teacher of reincarnation, Buddha, who changed - by order of Christian Rosencreutz in 1604 - the soul of the cosmic Mars-Area into a more peaceful direction, Buddha as one of the 12 Bodhisattvas around Christ in the spiritual world.

Like mentioned, it seems, that tracks of the spirit of Buddha and Franziskus are blowing from the “Blacksea-Air” into Romania. You can have the impression that with it comes the outwardly eastern wind from Asia over the Blacksea and specially into the south-romanian flatlands until they are catched in Oltenia. And it seems it brings with itself also the Buddha-

Air, from the far east as from the Blacksea-Mysterys, a contemplative mood of letting-go and of becoming this non-attached eternal child again.

The connecting with it is available for aware souls! Where do you find this peace, this contemplative innerness, this non- attachment, this non- violent smile of pureness and eastern oneness-direction?

If people in Romania are aware of the gifts of the meditative peace of Buddha, the christic brotherhood-empathy of Master Jesus and the wide eternal wind of Skythianos, they can feel the spiritual embedded situation in the Romanian spiritual air. With the modern spiritual knowledge of Anthroposophy this connectivity can rise to a strong spiritual culture in Romania – if we grasp it.

The signs of Manes in the Romanian Legends

If we look to the fourth “Masters of the West”, beside Buddha, Zarathustra/Master Jesus and Skythianos, which prepared in the fourth century the initiation of Christian Rosencreutz from 1250, if we look onto Manes/Mani, do we find tracks from his stream in Romania? The stream, to which my dear Friend Roland van Vliet, that died last year, researched his whole life, the stream that has the main direction of “loving good the evil”. A stream that always worked very much on inner transforming of the evil, that specially practiced the “love your next one like yourself” in connection with bettering the culture. Do we see something from that in Romania? Not on the surface maybe, but if we look on typical Romanian legend, such as “Miorita” and “Master Manole”, we find some familiar directions with this motive of not to hate them that kill you, but stay in the true spirit and sacrifice and to go balanced into the death – following the destiny.

This sacrificial ability as an aspect in the empathy of the Romanian Spirit shows a preparing for the Manesstream I think, especially when we think of the connectivity of Manes, Buddha, Zarathustra/Master Jesus, Skythianos with Christian Rosencreutz whom they initiated. In 15 general, the empathic love in Christ, that we see as inner hidden fountain in the Romanian spirit, is the ability that is the high christian aim that leads to the background of the Manes- Stream to the Manu-Being, which is not a human Bodhisattva but a spiritual being.

The Roscruze-Stream in Romania

We spoke often about the Rosecruz-Stream, that has been builded with the Initiation of Christian Rosencreutz 1250 throughwards the 12 Boddhisattvas, which Steiner characterisized as sitting around Christ and being substancially the body of the “Holy Spirit”. The specific acess of this culminating stream towards the spiritual world is the deeply purified science that is healing among man, the social area and in nature.

The right alchemy, the right chemistry, also in the social processes and the intense work on spiritual developments are a sign of this stream. Christian Rosencreutz started this social direction more seeable in his 18th century incarnation as St. Germain, who was a born Rakoczy, a son of Franz the II. from Transylvania (you see an older Racozypicture in the Castle Bran). The heavenly alchemy in the social art of the future shall also include the brotherhood of all religions. The newest path of true Roscrucian work we find in Anthroposophy that has the Rosecruz-Stream as a main stream in itself.

In Romania you find the Rosecruz Stream still more in more hidden situations, like in the Bran Castle which in truth is not a Dracula- but more a Rosecruz Castle, in so far that it seems more to be made for a special care of an innerness on a special place of connecting the innerness of the special spiritual part of the Carpathians – with the Spinx, the Monastery in a cave, the highland-valley over Sinaia – with Transylvania and the direction to Hingary and Middle- Europe. It also contains signs of St. Germain throughwards the pictures of his family-stream

16 the Rackoczys and the imprintment of the the international and caring aspects of Romanias loved Queen Maria and her fine daughter Princess Ileana, which also stay for the appreciation of the Romanian folksoul. A sideview is also the strong freemason work in Romania which took traditional elements of the Roscruzians in their rituals. Sighisoara is one representative place of this influence. The anthroposophical work in Romania in the 20th contained the typical Rosecrucian aspects of searching deep in Christwisdom and of going even through martyrs for it, as some Anthroposophers in Romania did. In the 21st century the modern rosecruz-aspects of a dedicated work onto the perception-abilities of a spiritual science raised clearly in Romania very early. Also our work here, as some kind of learning social alchemy, is part of that.

Always we have not to forget: nowadays special supporting spiritual streams of the central Roscruzework are them of the Boddhisattvas Buddha, Zarathustra/Master Jesus, Manes and Skythianos. Rosecruzianism and Anthroposophy has been seen from Steiner as a language that connects all spiritual streams and all religion in their essences and backgrounds! We can imagine that such connecting language should live strong in a bridgebuilding country between east and westeurope as Romania is – and it is, but still more in a potential state.

To uncover “the intentions of the living Christ in full wisdom-, beauty- and doing-form” is the “deepest aim of the Roscecruzianism” said Steiner in his Document from Barr; which he wrote 1907 while staying under the Mount St. Odilie. That’s the work: Wisdom-, Beauty- and Doingforns of the Intentions of the living Christ!

If we search for todays atmosphere of the Rosecruzstream, as we’ve done with a group in Stein am Rhein in Switzerland, we can grasp that we have to understand and live this - in selfless simple Christ-Service - that man is made to become all-penetrating and to be able to be penetrated from all. We can see the unfullfilled shadow from this in modern nature-science that seems to penetrate everything. But the penetration of a modern spiritual person today is also clarification in experiencing the penetration of the etheric, astralic and spiritual forces and beings with devoted but awake consciousness. It seems had been a hidden preparation in the middle age is starting in our age to come to a broad but intim movement - of emerging the deeper perceiving-abbilitys in little groups all around the globe. May we have the right dignity to enter the consciousnesssoul-state of meeting the spiritual world.

The spiritual possibilitys

Romania, this is obvious, has a lot of spiritual possibilitys following this “intentions of the living Christ” today and in future. Looking on the connection between the Master Jesus- and the Skythianos-Stream, in fact between all mentioned streams, we can see that they are not dealing much with traditions, even if they are builded up on anchient lines; they are working on that which has still to come. The Rosecruz-Stream works more in integrative and purified scientifically penetration, the Manes-Stream in deep actions of humanity, the Buddha-Stream in independend devotion, the Master Jesus-Stream in Brotherhoods of loving the individual self while facing their actual spiritual tasks, the Skythianos-Stream in directly actual facing the spirit around us through the physical nature, but breating the global world and the cosmos too. It’s not much about looking back and keeping traditions, but by dignifying our roots fully 17 for to face the future with its new forms strongly. We might not connect this with Romania. But if we listen to the deeper treasure of the Romanian spirit we could say Romania, the Carpathians are like supersensible prepared already - to become a spiritual bridge between the east and the west in an international serving, and to become through all this innerness in its spiritual preparation an European retreat-area – in a spiritual- and an ecological way.

Even if it seems unrealistic, I want also fix this as a statement: Romania has to become the first pure ecological country in Europe! True ecology is findable in the interactions of the Elementalbeing-World. And this is strong if a true spiritual activity is penetrating the nature and the work with nature. I see Romania as the first European country where – specially in the Carpathians - the spiritual regeneration, in a brotherhood-atmosphere or Master atmosphere of a purified Venuslove, can be found in incomparable way. Romania seems like a special station in the eastern connecting-zone between west and the east of East-Europe. Modest and anti-national, in service for the global world! In little steps, in little groups first, but with open communication. Working out of that what is there, in the spiritual reality here!

The Carpathian Mood is only the astralbody of its higher spirit!

The Master-Jesus-teaching that can reach us here in existential moods, is giving us access to feel and to be in brotherhood among man, among man and nature and among man and the spiritual world in Christ. Interreligious spoken: we can find to the the soul of a brotherhood living in the god-expression of the most personal-meeting with god. And we can remember here now: We found that he task of the Romanian Spirit is to teach Christlove to all nations (other nations, like Germany as example, have maybe to teach the Logos-Aspect of Christ) – here in Romania we can imprint us with a special empathic easyness of this existence-force of Christlove to all individuals and to all beings. It’s not a consciousness- form, its more, its an existence-form – like Christ standing with wide open Arms as a brother - in the most personal gods-expression - and he is looking with the simple deepest brother-love onto us, knowing and dignifying us more than anyone else. And not only us, - all creation too.

The other big spiritual possibility through the Romanian nature, connected with the Skythianospath, is the gift of sober, shepherd-alike eternity-seeing, eternity-feeling, eternity- being. A seeing and a dignifying of the long road everyone is coming through so many lifes, through so many pains, and through much more in future - on the way to a higher developement and to be a help for the fallen sisters and brothers in the future-lifes. Again its not only a consciousness-form, but an existence-form, - one that’s breathing with the royality of nature. Here, maybe in spiritual carpats-regeneration-weeks, we can take time to come to ourself, what in the same time means to come away from us, to come out of our lower-self circulating around our self. Here we can become sober and simple into a state of staying upright and responsible, overviewing from where we are (all) coming and up to where we are (all) called. Maybe something that once only touched some hermits, some monks, some sheperds deep in the Carpathian, can become a spiritual habit for true seekers here. Seeing through and listening to the futurecall or that skythianic singing of what and how the how the spiritual futurelife in Christ shall be. In the tradition of the Kalevala we may say, we can try to see the coming of the new “Sampo”, the central and mysterious etheric building in the Kalevala.

In our anthroposophical society collegium work between 2007 and 2010 we had this strong vision of an anthroposophical carpatian center, for to practizise with Romanians and internationally. After 7 years now, we should go another step – sure: first innley, but soon also outwardly. May them be remembered well!

The fluid that we already builded then and there, is always available, if we go on with it. We will try it this weekend and further weekends too. And – even if outwardly many traditional anthroposophical instituions have to go through death and rising in this years – a deeper spirituality of experiencing and deeper inner- and social selfschooling is emerging since the beginning of the new millennium.

Romanias Situation today

When the worldwide press and media gave in February 2017 - the first time ever – a hopeful mirror of the Romanian soul, even if it might be naive reports of the protests of partly naive young people. I think it’s time not only to think critical-distanced, but see the signs of time, read in the little historic symptoms. Symptoms that may tell that in our time of hardening, primitive acting in worldpolitics (Trump etc.), nationalism, especially in Romania a young generation is showing empathy, fantasy and creativity. In Romania this forces seem directly connected with the true folk spirit. We such forces a lot in this moment in our world! Steiner described how any nationalism has a tremendous anti- michaelic and evil potential, and how it has to be balanced with free spirit-breathing in the right michaelic and cosmopolitical direction - with all our forces.

The subtext behind the momentary situation worldwide is calling obviously for a brotherhood between man all over the borders of nations. Here we can see it by reminding the role-model of the Master-Jesus-Stream of such deep brother love for every inner individuality! And feeling the global dimension, we, as man, can share this productive looking for help with the true Christ-Connected Folk-Archangels of all nations! We are all-penetrating beings from our inner potential, we can try to step into a choir with the archangels of the nations with a skythianic attitude. The time spirit Michael can only find ways through man to come in the right presence in mankind. We can imagine to see him with us in the circle of aware men and 20 the Archangels of the nations … . Man and governments have to care for the whole world – and we cannot steal ourselves out of this responsibility. I we can imagine and feel the choirs of the spiritual world waiting for us, feel it in a very sober way of being ready to serve, we can have help to have courage and to sharpen our true inner direction and focus. Because more spiritual and political creativity is needed to build diverse ways to an international brotherhood-culture, including nature too.

The steps of this weekend for to understand the social development work better and better, with the background of spiritual streams and its cosmic differentiations, quality’s, rhythms and inner laws, is one step on this way, only one first next step … .
