Kering and the Festival de Cannes will present the 2017 Women in Motion Award to Isabelle Huppert The Young Talents Award will be presented to Maysaloun Hamoud International film icon Isabelle Huppert will receive the third Women in MotionAward presented by Kering and the Festival de Cannes. Isabelle Huppert has chosen director and scriptwriter Maysaloun Hamoud to receive the Young Talents Award. François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering, Pierre Lescure, President of the Festival de Cannes, and Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Festival of Cannes, will present these awards during the official Women in Motion dinner on Sunday, 21 May 2017. Credits: Brigitte Lacombe For the third Women in Motion programme, official partner Kering and the Festival de Cannes will present the Women in Motion Award to French actress Isabelle Huppert. Exceptionally free-spirited and bold, Isabelle Huppert has taken many artistic risks in her career, and whilst acting with leading names, she has successfully established her own style in a variety of registers ranging from drama to comedy. She has pushed back boundaries with the strong and far-from-stereotypical roles that she has played since the early days of her career. Whether being directed by legendary filmmakers or by a brilliant new generation of talented filmmakers, Isabelle Huppert is one of the most inspirational figures in the world of cinema. Isabelle Huppert has in turn chosen to honour Maysaloun Hamoud by awarding her the Young Talents prize. In 2016 this young Palestinian director and scriptwriter made her first feature film, In Between (Bar Bahar), which chronicles the daily lives of three young Palestinian women living in Tel Aviv, torn between family traditions and their desire for independence. -

Succeeding the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 and the resulting immigration of Jews, the Palestinians living within the newly set borders of Israel were reduced to a minority. While there are various fiction and documentary films produced on the general issue of the Israeli-Palestinian contention, the Palestinian minority and their ongoing struggles to coexist within a hegemonic host state are often neglected. -
French Judaism Foundation Editorial Note from 1 the Chairman Message from 3 the Managing Director
DEUX MILLE SEIZE ANNUAL REPORT TWO THOUSAND AND SIXTEEN French Judaism Foundation Editorial Note from 1 the Chairman Message from 3 the Managing Director 4 Moral report 12 Financial Report Sheltered Foundations 52 30 Grants This has once again been a year of contrasts, largely characterised by the intellectual and artistic vitality of our community, its renewed commitment and engagement with regard to solidarity, while standing firm in the face of widespread insecurity and fear. It is true, you may well say, that it is reflected in the very history of our people that we have learned over the centuries to live with joy and hope, as much as with fear and fatalism. Let us acknowledge this extraordinary resistance of the Jewish people who refuse to fall victim to the evil from which it remains under constant attack, always knowing to reach unto the depths of their inner strength, and draw upon their faith, and their humour, their immense creativity and self - sacrifice along with the commitment towards overcoming difficulties and violence and continuing to move forward, strong and united, towards their future. "Never giving up" could indeed be the philosophy that guides our actions at the Fondation du Judaïsme Français / French Judaism Foundation. It means: Not giving up when it is necessary to fight ceaselessly and at all times against the multi - dimensional anti - semitism that the Foundation has sought to gain a better understanding of and to measure with the help of a major study conducted by the Ipsos institute. Not giving up when it comes to defending the poorest, the most disadvantaged and vulnerable who have been marginalised and left behind, in spite of the economic crisis that has made every donation and gift more difficult to obtain. -

Lalia, a criminal lawyer with a wicked wit, loves to burn off her workday stress in the underground club scene. Salma, slightly more subdued, is a DJ and bartender. Nur is a younger, religious Muslim girl who moves into the apartment in order to study at the university. Nur is both intrigued and intimidated by her two sophisticated roommates. When her conservative fiancé visits, he is horrified by her secular friends, entreating her to hasten their marriage, leave Tel Aviv, and assume her rightful role as a wife. She refuses, and his violent rebuttal leaves all of the women shaken. Salma and Lalia also face turmoil: Lalia has found love with a modern Muslim man whose acceptance proves less than unconditional, and Salma discovers that her Christian family in a northern Galilean village is not as liberal as they claim.
