It is located near the southern area of the Jordan valley. The salt-rich Dead Sea is the lowest point on the earth's surface, being 400 meters below sea level. The air around the Dead Sea is unpolluted, dry, and pollen-free with low humidity, providing a naturally relaxing environment. The air in the region has a high mineral content due to the constant evaporation of the mineral rich water. 3. The Dead Sea comes in the list of the world's greatest landmarks, and is sometimes considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. People usually miss out on this as they do not realize the importance of its unique contents. The Dead Sea has twenty-one minerals which have been found to give nourishment to the skin, stimulate the circulatory system, give a relaxed feeling, and treat disorders of the metabolism and rheumatism and associate pains. The Dead Sea mud has been used by people all over the world for beauty purposes. -

Pencil-pushers in the Human Resources Office, best friends Zohar (Dana Ivgy) and Daffi (Nelly Tagar) spend their time playing video games, singing pop songs, jousting with stationery and dreaming of Tel Aviv. The indolent twosome are watched over by their aspiring senior officer, Rama (Shani Klein), who dreams of a higher position and a significant military career, but with a platoon of unskilled, idle, female soldiers without any drive under her charge, her ambitions for promotion are constantly thwarted. With shifts of tone that go from slapstick to satiric to horrifying with fluid ease, and with a superb supporting cast of characters, Zero Motivation is destined to be one of the most talked about films of the year. DIRECTOR’S NOTE During my mandatory military service as a secretary, I dreamed of making an army movie with the pathos and epic proportions of classic war-films, but about the gray, mundane experiences that my office mates and I had, hardly ever getting up from our chairs. -

As such, he has not seen them for five years and in this time his life has had a turn for the worse, with a recent divorce and custody battles. One day, Shaul sporadically decides to come up and stay with his father for several days, despite refusing to be friendly with him. During this time, Bati, much to the irritation of Shaul, tries to get the two men to talk to one another. However her plans fall flat. After Shaul injures himself by slipping on a fish at the local market and his own young daughter, Michal (Bethany Gorenberg), arrives suddenly to be at the aid of her father. Her presence eases the tension between the two men, resulting in them rebuilding their relationship. UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ARAB FUND FOR ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT ARAB GULF PROGRAMME FOR UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS ARAB HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2004 Towards Freedom in the Arab World The Arab world finds itself at a historical crossroads. Caught between oppression at home and violation from abroad, Arabs are increasingly excluded from determining their own future. Freedom in its comprehensive sense, incorporates not only civil and political freedoms (in other words, liberation from oppression), but also the liberation from all factors that are inconsistent with human dignity. To be sustained and guaranteed, freedom requires a system DEVELO HUMAN ARAB of good governance that rests upon effective popular representation and is accountable to the people, and that upholds the rule of law and ensures that an independent judiciary applies the law impartially. The report describes free societies, in their normative dimension, as fundamental contrasts with present-day Arab countries. The enormous gap that separates today’s reality and what many in the region hope for, is a source of widespread frustration and despair among Arabs about their countries’ prospects for a peaceful transition to societies enjoying freedom and good governance. Moreover, persisting tendencies in Arab social structures could well lead to spiralling social, economic, and political crises. Each further stage of crisis would impose itself 2004 REPORT PMENT as a new reality, producing injustices eventually beyond control. The Arab world is at a decisive point that does not admit compromise or complacency. If the Arab people are to have true societies of freedom and good governance, they will need to be socially innovative. -

RE-MEDIATING THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT: THE USE OF FILMS TO FACILITATE DIALOGUE by ELANA SHEFRIN Under the Direction of M. Lane Bruner ABSTRACT With the objective of outlining a decision-making process for the selection, evaluation, and application of films for invigorating Palestinian-Israeli dialogue encounters, this project researches, collates, and weaves together the historico-political narratives of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, the artistic worldviews of the Israeli and Palestinian national cinemas, and the procedural designs of successful Track II dialogue interventions. Using a tailored version of Lucien Goldman’s method of homologic textual analysis, three Palestinian and three Israeli popular film texts are analyzed along the dimensions of Historico-Political Contextuality, Socio- Cultural Intertextuality, and Ethno-National Textuality. Then, applying the six “best practices” criteria gleaned from thriving dialogue programs, coupled with the six “cautionary tales” criteria gleaned from flawed dialogue models, three bi-national peacebuilding film texts are homologically analyzed and contrasted with the six popular film texts. -

It is true, you may well say, that it is reflected in the very history of our people that we have learned over the centuries to live with joy and hope, as much as with fear and fatalism. Let us acknowledge this extraordinary resistance of the Jewish people who refuse to fall victim to the evil from which it remains under constant attack, always knowing to reach unto the depths of their inner strength, and draw upon their faith, and their humour, their immense creativity and self - sacrifice along with the commitment towards overcoming difficulties and violence and continuing to move forward, strong and united, towards their future. "Never giving up" could indeed be the philosophy that guides our actions at the Fondation du Judaïsme Français / French Judaism Foundation. It means: Not giving up when it is necessary to fight ceaselessly and at all times against the multi - dimensional anti - semitism that the Foundation has sought to gain a better understanding of and to measure with the help of a major study conducted by the Ipsos institute. Not giving up when it comes to defending the poorest, the most disadvantaged and vulnerable who have been marginalised and left behind, in spite of the economic crisis that has made every donation and gift more difficult to obtain. -
