WIELAND Württemberg existed as a county prior to 1495, and as a duchy from 1495 to 1806.[1] Its territory grew over this time, with the counts and dukes gradually displacing rival lords. This ruling family acquired Murrhardt with its filials, including Schönbronn, in 1395. Civil jurisdiction over this village was transferred to Grab in 1848.[2] 1. LeonhardI Wieland[3] of Schönbronn, parish of Murrhardt, duchy of Württemberg,[4] was married to Margretha ____, and secondly to Barbara ____. Their marriages are not recorded in the parish of Murrhardt, or in the nearby parish of Mainhardt where many Schönbronn inhabi- tants are also recorded (though marriages in that parish do not begin until 1571). Partly as a consequence, their parents are not known. He is also thought to be the “younger” Leonhard Wieland, widower, who was married at Murrhardt on 7 May 1583 to Appolonia Baumetzer.[5] Appolonia was baptized at Murrhardt on 17 November 1561, daughter of Hans and Margretha (____) Baumetzer of Steinberg in the same parish.[6] Child of LeonhardI Wieland, mother uncertain, is: i. HANNß WIELAND,[7] b. say 1557, inhabitant of Streithag, parish of Mainhardt, d. between 25 Jan. 1625 and 6 Jan. 1630 (marriages of sons Hannß and Jörg),[8] m. (2) Mainhardt 17 Dec. 1592 ANNA SCHOCK, dau. of the late Hans Schock of Fron- falz.[10] Children of LeonhardI and Margretha (____) Wieland, baptized at Murrhardt, are: ii. JacobH Wieland[37] (LeonhardI), of Schönbronn, was baptized at Murrhardt on 10 September 1579, and sponsored by Jerg Thiem.[38] He seems to have died before 1638, when his son Jacob was married. He apparently married Magdalena Schock in two separate ceremonies, at Main- hardt on 20 April 1607, and at Murrhardt the following day. She was the daughter of Michael Schock of “Kirchenhof,” parish undetermined[39] (see 7447. Schock, no. 1, i.).
